You can laugh but believe it or not this time last off season there were some Knicks fans saying Jackie Butler would have a better 2006-2007 season than Curry would.

Yeah, right. Show me one post that said that.
I'll tell you what was said. It was said that we should have kept JB
instead of wasting the MLE on JJ2. That's what was said.
And they were right.

Only if they are being compared to Zach. These 2 always appear on both positions if its to put down Knicks players.

And that is why Curry's teams have won so much, especially in the playoffs.

When did hoops become a 1 man game. What was KGs playoff record the last 2 years?

Why rely on a sample size of two years when these two veterans have had careers to judge them by? (It wouldn't be that you needed to reduce the sample size to fit your argument, would it?)

[Edited by - bonn1997 on 08-03-2007 4:46 PM]

Its to illustrate the point that no one player carrys his team to the playoffs alone. Not KG, not Patrick and not Jordan.

KG has been out of the 1st round once in like 11 or 12 years. Curry never has in 6. I dont see a huge difference.

Curry's also had $100 mil of talent surrounding him and is playing in the "leastern" conference.

You are saying no Knicks fans said Jackie Butler was better than Curry last off season? How much would you be willing to bet via a pay pal account today?
Make it worth my while to find the posts. $500? $1000?

What does salary have to do with anything?

If somebody paid you 100 mill would it make you in to a good hoops player?

So you think KG playing with Marbury, David Lee, and the rest of our squad wouldn't even make the playoffs in the leastern conference last year? We're talking about a .488 win% getting you in.

That's what I'm saying. If anyone did, it was in hyperbole.
And no, I'm not paying you sh!t. If one loser said it that's not the point.
The general negative feeling about letting JB go was not about his being better
than Curry, but that he was a good servicable backup and should not have been
allowed to go for nothing just to sign JJ2, because as everyone knows JJ1
can't manage to play more than 5 mins without getting winded.

Did Curry have Marbury and Dlee for a full year? I thought Dlee played about 52 games healthy all year.

Minny with KG won less games than the Knicks. He had Ricky Davis, Randy Foye.

Once again nobody said Curry was better than KG. It just shows the point that a teams record is not about one player. That is unless you are going to say it was Ewings fault when his teams missed the playoffs or Jordans fault when his teams missed the playoffs.

No one's saying one player should be able to carry a team. You seem to take that statement as indicating that individual players (at least those on the Knicks) bear zero responsibility for the success of their teams.

Another thing, Camby can play defense in the low post and on the perimeter. He used to guard T-Mac when he was on the Knicks. And his help D is great. And on offense, he moves very well without the ball, cuts to the basket, hits open shots, sets picks and is a good passer.

Curry is good at one thing and that's low post scoring. So what bothers you tfk?

What bothers me is that my center is supposed to play with his back to the basket, score points in the paint, camby does neither, curry was the best in the NbA at points in the paint. In other words there are forwards that can do what camby does, none that can do what curry does.. This is why I have the problem.....
So for a center, scoring points in the paint (or scoring with your back to the basket--it's really only one thing even if you list it twice), is more important than all other facets of the game COMBINED?

I actually think it's a level deeper than that, Bonn. No offense to tkf, but reasoning like that actually sounds like pure denial that other facets of the game exist. However, we all know that if a NBA game was purely "who has the best offense", the Knicks would be considerably better than a 33 win team, perhaps among the elite. There's more to the game than that. Why people choose to ignore it is beyond me.

Camby is much better than Curry in all other facets of the game except interior post game. Then add into the fact that he's reasonably efficient when he gets the ball and requires few shoots. He also can hit an 18 foot jumper, which is something Curry can't do. Interior scoring is nice, but highly overrated on this board.

let me put it this way for both you and bonn. Jason kidd can do a lot of things better than most centers or bigs in the league, but I don't want him playing center and neither do I consider him a center. Caamby is as much of a center as kidd is. Camby can't and doesn't post up, and has no offensive game. A lot of guys can defend, pass and dunk, but for my center I want him to control the paint on both ends, now while curry is not a defensive guru, rarely does his man ever have big games with the exception of yao. Curry usually outscores the opposing center while keeping that centers scoring at bay. What I want from my center is to dominate the painted area, so far curry can do it on one end of the court, that is fine for now, i hope and expect he will get better on the other end, but camby is no center, doesn't provide what I want in a center, I can get from balkman, and kirlenko, what camby can get me, but there are not many if any guys who can control the paint with his back to the basket, draw double teams, get the opposing bigs in foul trouble and shoot over 60% from the field. sorry but I will take curry over camby any day of the week...

See, what I expect from a center is for him to be a dominant force in the paint, too... ON DEFENSE. Curry is a lazy SOB on defense. You're right that the guys Curry's directly defending rarely go off for huge games. That's because there's only like 5 centers in the entire NBA who can put the ball in the basket. But PFs also get by Curry and guards have a field day since they blow by our perimeter defenders at will and Curry offers no help. Jason Kidd as much of a center as Camby? That argument is ridiculous. Kidd couldn't defend an NBA center and you know it. Camby having no offensive game is also a lie. Camby's offensive game is okay for a center. He can hit a 20 foot jumper, he can get put backs. He's a much more complete player than Curry -- it's not even close.

You like the ONE thing Curry does well on the court. Congratulations, your post was an 100% homeristic post that wasn't based in reality. Sorry, dude. You could try to argue Okur, but Camby... give me a break. Just because you don't consider Camby your prototypical center doesn't make Curry better than him. Give me a break, seriously.

The Jason Kidd comparison may be the worst thing I've ever read in MESSAGE BOARD HISTORY. He seriously tried to compare a point guard to a center GOOD GOOGALLY MOOGALLY!

why do you like to jump the gun instead of actually reading and discerning what is being said. The kid example wasn't a comparison, but in your bizzaro world of knicks hate, I guess it seems that way. My point is that kidd has more dimensions to his game than camby, does that make him better at center than camby? Camby is not a center! he has no offensive game, uless you call the occasional lopsided jumper offense. Call my post homeristic but yours is laced with venom and hate. You even blame guards blowing by our guards on curry. You still miss the point, camby is not a center, he doesn't play a centers game and honestly I can get from so many other players in the league what camby give me, and why? because camby does not play a centers game, curry does, one of the few, true back to the basket centers in the game and he is damn near dominant at it....

Ok, whatever. In your world being good at one thing trumps all else. In your world, there are very few centers because the only true centers are the ones that play with their back to the basket. Okay, whatever.

They both came into the league as 4's. Amare started playing the 5 that year when they had Q and I dont remember when D-12 was a 5, wasn't Darko and Battie the 5?

why do you like to jump the gun instead of actually reading and discerning what is being said.

Okay, whatever.

whatever? LOl... geez great conversation man, whatever... LOL... I guess in your world Ron artest is a better player than reggie miller because reggie did just one thing good. right?

Reggie Miller is a clutch player, Artest is not. If Artest could get past his mental issues, there's no doubt that Artest would be a better player. Sorry.
