The thing that I feel is missed with adding Zach is that the PF guarding him can't take it easy like he could last year. Now he's gonna have to work hard and stay out of foul trouble having to guard Zach. Zach already faced the best PF's in the league out west and with very little help and he wasn't fouling out of games. Zach is a PLUS player. We didn't have that last year and I was just watching tapes of last season and it was pretty weird when Curry wasn't in the game. We had no real focus to the offense. Now we will have a focus and he's an extremely capable player at that.

While it's true we won't likely be a great defensive team, neither is Wash. and people give them all sorts of credit. No one seems to mind that they're primarily an offensive team. The Knicks will be similar but with a better defense. I'm more concerned with our Point Differential. With the slight changes we've made so far I'm expecting a more efficient offense over 48 mins. We were very up and down in games and I'm expecting that we'll be much more consistent from qtr to qtr. With Zach getting major minutes and being able to play with Lee and Balkman there to clean up the offensive boards and slash to the basket. Jamal and Nate being able to take advantage of the attention Zach will draw. They haven't had that when they've been out there with the 2nd unit. Now they will.

46-36 is what i'm guessing at this point.

There's still the issue of what he's gonna do to clean up the roster, so this is an early guess and not my final one.

Since you predict 46 wins, if the team wins 35 are you going to yell at people that are upset with that? Not being sarcastic, I just want to prepare myself for next offseason.

If the teams win even 3 games, they will get yelled at for being pessimistic.

Any of you guys ever notice that we are always "missing stuff". Good thing we have someone to point it out.

Perhaps there are some who didn't look at it from that perspective. What i'm getting at is that he avg'd 7 FTA's a game which is one less than Eddy. That's gonna be a big factor for this team. We were already a top team in terms of FTA's. We were # 6 in the league and with a guy like Zach that should go up. His impact may be greater than some realize IMO. With those extra FT's we'll be better able to dictate the pace of games. Slow them down to our pace, while adding points.

Hey you don't know that.

Of course I do. I think it goes something like this:

Record only matters if we win.
Stats are only useful if they show 100% pure Knicks love.
What we see on tv is a mirage and all complaints are irrelevant.
What we see live at the Garden is a double mirage.
Winning is due to skill and Isiah's greatness.
Losses are due to bad luck and must be erased from memory within 15 minutes of the Knicks losing a game.
The guy we loved and defended last year is this year's goat, but we will never admit having liked or defended that player in the first place; he is the real problem.
The fans are the real problem; if not for the minority of supporters, the Knicks would've lost even more games.
The referees have always been against the Knicks, and the Tim Donaghy scandal proves it.
Character is irrelevant, as long as they perform well on the court.
Performance on the court is a red-herring, as long as they're young and athletic and try hard (sometimes).
We Are The Borg. You Will Be Assimilated.

HEY! At least i'm actually stating why I feel the team will win a certain amount of games. I don't know why there's a need to go on and on about my personal take on things, but go ahead and have your fun. If I didn't actually show why I feel there's a reason to be more optimistic about this team, then I could see your points, but the win total from last year isn't the whole story. There are other factors to be looked at for this team.

This summer i've already gone on record in several threads that I don't believe there should be any kind of moral victories for this season. i've gone on record stating that I believe this team should make the playoffs and no excuses offered. That was before the KG deal. So I think you guys are way off base in making these jokes about me. If I hadn't said any of those things then by all means take me to task, but I did. What else can a person do to make his position clear. Now you have a prediction and my previous statements that this team must make the playoffs for this season to be a success and I even added that I don't mean making the playoffs and getting swept either.

I'll go with 48-34. Only thing the Knicks are missing is the desire and they showed some last year I think they make good on it and make significant progress.

I'm pretty sure that everyone on this post has spent the majority of the summer explaining why the team will have the win total that they predict. Most of us read the names and pay attention to what is being posted so we understand each others reasons. You on the other hand race from post to post defending the honor of the knicks and may have missed what everyone has said. To you, everyone is predicting hte knicks to stink.

I do want to make sure that we are on the same page since our predictions are similar to last year. If the team wins 35 games do the fans now have your permission to be upset or do we wait another year?

It's interesting that with all the heated disagreement on this site, everyone is picking the Knicks win total to be in a range centered around 41 wins.

It was the same way last year. That's why all this hater/lover crap doesn't make sense. I guess the difference some are happy with those results and others are not.

I think if we really get going we could win 50..but that's the homer in me talking. I'm thinking 42-45 games.

You are miss reading those predictions. Those are not win ranges. They are season records.
37-45 = 37 wins.
43-39 = 43 wins.

What's all this "race around from post to post" BS? SCREW YOU! So now i'm the only one who likes to respond to multiple threads? You don't know me well enough to start characterizing me. You certainly wouldn't be disrespecting me to my face. SO take it easy with the condescending tone.

I not restating a damn thing. I said what I said and it's not the 1st time i've done so. If you have a personal problem with me we can take care of that. You don't like what I write don't read it and certainly keep my name out of your posts then. I already have a father and I have my own children, so don't try to tell me what to do.

Poor Nixluva. I think you overreacted to Bip. He's being blunt, but he's right.

Now, what I posted, wasn't entirely at you or anyone in particular, just a general trend I've noticed.

I said 37 wins about 3 weeks after the season was over and said I may potentially give them a couple more wins after I see how they play in preseason.

Right now for me 37-45 and this might be 4 or 5 wins too many.
