Another pointless post.

"who's the biggest cancer?" How lame is the question? The whining on the board never ceases. The question sounds like something you'd find on a note passed between Junion High School students. It's as if people stay up at night thinking of new ways to disparage Marbury.

And, by the way, who in God's holy name had a better all around season on this team than Stephon Marbury? Doesn't this roster offer more promise than any we've seen in almost a decade? And all you want to think about is "who's the biggest CANCER?" What the hell does that even mean?

Wow, some people must have considerably disappointing lives. I couldn't try to be disgruntled enough to come up with some of this rubbish.

If you dont know what it means why are you getting so upset? Why are you acting like the thread was about Marbury or any 1 player? Marbury was never singled out in anyway by the poll. It wasnt even only asking about the players. The media and fans are listed as choices as well.

After TRU's post, I'm changing my vote to fans. j/k Man, he seems to have gotten awful upset about nothing.

I have to go with some of the fans as my number one choice. Even when the team makes positive moves they are negative about the team in general.
What positive moves are you referring to?

Clearly he means Zach... and maybe he liked other Isiah trades for some reason. The problem with the Zach trade is if it backfires, it will be worse than the Raul Mondesi trade for the Yankees.

When you have a team that's finished sub .500 six years in a row, "positive moves" requires explanation. We're not talking about the Spurs here!

You don't have to be a political scientist or statistician to know that placement of choices in any poll affects outcomes. The poll put Marbs first and Fans last certainly not by coincidence.

And I'm not so much upset as I am BORED. This team isn't infected by some cancerous individual. It was JUST BAD LAST YEAR. And we weren't even the worst. I'm not entirely sure why "cancer" was the term of choice, but it does seem unduly harsh.

Let it be known: I believe in the Knicks this year-- deep into the playoffs, I swear to you my brothers...

Yeah, it's more boredom than upsetness(?). Every thread degenerates into the same conversation. I just wish there was more basketball discussion, is all. Anything but freakin' cancer.

The order could have a small effect but it's not going to give the 1st choice triple the votes of the next highest choice.

See what I mean you still don't know about the positive moves.

When you have a team that's finished sub .500 six years in a row, "positive moves" requires explanation. We're not talking about the Spurs here!

When a team is young you don't automatically get to .500 you have to earn it and the Knicks are going in the right direction. But you lack the patients. You are already to write the Kicks off for the up and coming season without giving the team a chance to show if they can get to that elusive .500 mark. Last year the Knciks were close to the .500 mark on numerous occasions but injuries did them in. At one point they were holding down the 7th spot in the playoff race, unfortunate for them and the fans injuries just took to much of a toll on the team. But you are to enamoured with .500 but in your need to be .500 you lost sight of the fact that this team was and is going in the right direction which is towards .500, playoffs and possible contention.

As for the positive there have been many positives for the KNicks.
+Hirig LB was a positive a HOF coach isn't that positive.
+Firing LB was a positive because he had his motives.
+David Lee his play is always positive
+Trading for Zach for basically Frye positive
+Getting Curry for two overrated first round draft picks and a bust in Sweetney postive
+Mardy Collins play in the Last few weeks was positive nearly averaged a triple doube positive
+Jamal Crawfords presence and his ability to create for the big men was positive and the team played .500 your elusive number when he started positve
Drafting Balkman was a positive because it doesn't lool ike he will be a bust but a vital contibutor to the team positive.
+Drafting Chandler who seem to have a solid game is positive.
+Getting Randolp Morris as a free agent basically Isiah stole him and got himself a first round player before the draft positve.
+Nate's play in Summer league showing that he can dish it.
+ Nichol's shooting in SL has NBA range.

There are so many positive with the Knicks but like I said when you have young players that are finding their way you aren't gonna get to .500 that easily they will have to do their time and come this year you will see more positive out of the KNicks then negative even in the won loss column.

The exact effect is difficult to quantify, but even you admit the inherent bias in the poll. What is your point, anyway? That this board loves Stephon Marbury? The thread and poll really don't make any sense and are both negative by design.

I might as well start a thread entitled "Who do you think was the cutest New Kid on the Block?"

#1 Out of the options its easy to see Marbury have the highest %. I didn't even need to open up the poll or vote to know the results.

#2 The timing has a huge effect of the outcome. There are 2-3 anti Marbury threads, about his blog, when he was on that tv show etc... Post this if Marbury does another positive action other than his sneaker thing. Or if the season started and Marbury dropped 15pts in the 4th to win a game and Curry only had 2 rebs I bet Curry would get majority vote.

Was there really a need for the poll you probably already knew the answer to? Or was this question really eating you up in side that you had to ask it?

Reguardless think any player can be successful in the right situation. Though some players need more than others because of there character flaws. Isiah is just as guilty as failing to put a balanced team that could have good chemistry as Marbury failed to make the best of each situation and lead it to victories reguardless of the team. What plan was there to build around Marbury with his talent and character in mind in order to get the most out of Marbury & the players around him as well as keep the chemistry solid?? For that reason I cannot completly fault Marbury for his failure here though he of course gets his own share of the blame.

Zach hasn't played ONE game yet and he's already a cancer?
lol @ being BANNED by Martin since 11/07/10 (for asking if Mr. Earl had a point). Really, Martin? C'mon. This is the internet. I've seen much worse on this site. By Earl himself. Drop the hypocrisy.

Tru I'm sorry the poll or the placement of poll option order bothers you. I honestly did not think in any way the options order would matter. I figured people would vote what they believed not based on what order the choices were listed.
Please feel free to make a similar poll and change the order of the options to any order you like. Than we can see if people are voting based on their believes or based on the order the choices are listed.

Gentlemen,
In order to avoid this issue in the future, I suggest that all future polls leave a blank first choice so as
to avoid influencing the user base and creating any bias in the results. I'm surprised we haven't thought of this before!

But then the second choice would in essence be the first choice and so on and so on. I like your proposal but I am suggesting that in the future all the choices be on the same line. That would completely erase that bias.

In all seriousness, if you want a legitimate poll that can't be spun than try to ask without the inflammatory words. Sayign who will be the cancer? That's a slanted question to begin with. What if you don't think any of the choices will be a cancer. I have such a hard time answering these questions because they are so inflammatory.
