Rashad is not one-dimensional.
He is good scorer from anywhere, avarage defender, and he is OK in other elements of the game. We need starting SF and he is one of 10-15 best in the NBA. He is not adding to our bloted roster another redundant peace. And Craf and Fry are redundant.
So it is no brainer.

Lewis was the no. 2 option on a 50 game winner in the West Nate's last season in Seattle.
Unless we're adding Ray Allen in his prime, who cares?

you play Steph at the 2 and he is just as effective scoring as Ray.

They're completely different scorers. Steph needs to dominate the ball. Ray plays within the flow of the offense and moves great without the ball. I still doubt Steph gets up to around 26 PPG or 5 RPG (maybe Eddy will, though!) or 40% from 3s like Ray Allen in his prime and I doubt he provides the leadership Ray Allen did. For Steph to score 26 PPG, he'd have to totally dominate the ball, leaving almost no shots for Rashard and Eddy.

Has anyone actually watched Lewis? You want to compare him the biggest waste in NBA history Tim Thomas?

Shard is averaging around 20 and 6 and stroking it a close to 40% from three over the last three years, without a pg like steph that can drive and kick and a big man that can command a double....

Does anyone realize that you could throw this thing up out there, you have close to 80 points out of that unit you have a blend of everything, and if q comes back alright, rose, and jefferies you have a good enough defensive unit, people seriously underestimate how much this move would help the team.

No, your absolutely wrong!

Tim Thomas is a career 43% shooter from the field and 37% from 3. His highest scoring avareage for one season was 15 pts.

Rashard Lewis is a career 46% schooter from the field and 39% shooter from 3. He's averaged over 20 per for the past three seasons and a career high 22 this past season. He's also an allstar in the loaded west. If you don't like Lewis' game thats one thing, but to compare him to Tim Thomas is assinine.

but how much will it hamper our chances of getting under the cap to target a true franchise player once Marbury, Francis & Malik's contracts come off the books in '09? with Rashard, Curry, Q Rich, Jefferies, Turd & the young kids still on the roster, will the Knicks be able to entertain any ideas of pursuing Kobe, Lebron, D Wade, etc. in free agency?

We are never going to get anyone, we always have this discussion, isiah isn't trustworthy and he is another awful move away from sinking the franchise so if you can get a guy to help you win

that's a moronic mentality to go into the future with... all this time you've been complaining that we don't have a true franchise player, but you want to strap our chances of ever obtaining one by trading for Rashard Lewis? does that make sense? Rashard Lewis is not going to help our chances of winning a championship... all he does is make us a slightly better mediocre squad... we need to keep our focus on guys who can actually have a real impact, even if it takes us 2 years of having to suck to get him... we have to stop focusing on Isiah's past sins & start focusing on the plan that lies ahead... no more big contracts that extend past 2009 unless it's for a legitimate franchise calibre talent.

Exactly. With moderate improvement from Curry and the continued improvement of Lee and Balkman the unit above competes for the eastern conference championship.

And once again, trading Crawford and Frye for a resigned Lewis doesn't hurt our cap position (and might actually help) until 2010/2011. The plan should be to use our cap space to sign a big free agent before then.

crawford is getting 10 million frye another 3 and nate close to two. Thats about 15 give or take a few hundred thousand on player that shoots a high percentage and can actually space the floor and isn't a human turnover like the guards we are getting rid of.

he has no plan, never has had one, regardless of this get under the cap, youth movement, uncoventional ways, we were in a bad position, injuries, etc.....we are getting one of the top 20-25 players in the nba.

Plus Rashard Lewis is an actual real-deal two-way player whose defense is at least as good as Q-Rich's.

I'm torn about him. His numbers are legit, but he has the look of a player thats looking to cash out and coast. Nothing concrete, but just a suspicion. A long term contract would have me trembling with trepidation.

Steph won't get 26 and 4 assists but he will get 22-23 and 6 assists with him being the no. 1 option. He is too good at creating space with his dribble and drawing contact and finishing plus if he knows one pass its the kick-out.

give the ball to Mardy and let him be the set-up man

Rashard Lewis > Tim Thomas

BUT... they're very similar players. I recall early in both of their careers they hit bit shots in the playoffs. TT's big shots w/ Milwaukee led to his max contract (big mistake). Seattle didn't make a knee jerk reaction and overpay Lewis immediately.

IMHO, Lewis is a MUCH more consistent player. A starting-quality player. One thing about Lewis is that he's a relatively poor rebounder for a player as tall and good as he is. He's a good rebounder at the SF position, but a poor rebounder/shotblocker for 6'11" guy who's demanding a max contract. He only uses his size advantage on the offensive end to get shots over defenders.

BUT... shooting is our biggest need... and he's darned good at it. His height makes him very difficult to contain.

So he'd get the same assists and seven more points than this year? I'm not saying it's impossible, but I don't think I've ever seen a position change cause a player to get seven more PPG. Most of his career he basically played as a shooting guard at the PG position and scored 20 PPG and that was when he was quicker.

Rashard isn't Kobe or Garnett, but we might be able to get him while keeping our best young players. He's also younger than Kobe and Garnett. He's a good player and will fit in well with our team.

How many block shots or rebounds can you expect from a guy playing out on the perimter? 6'10 or 5'10, defenders dont usually block jump shots. Nor can you expect them to average double figures on long rebounds from jumpers.

Take his 6'10 height and put him under the basket and his rebounds and blocks would increase even though he's not a natural power player.

seems to me the last couple years are the exception to his ability to flat out score with LB and Isiah asking him to actually think possession by possession about the other 9 players on the court. Let him roam and only have to think about beating 1 or 2 people and he will still light up a scoreboard.
