Sheed would be nice but you need a strong coach with good leadership on the court AND a win-now team for him to fit.

or a bad GM desperate to make himself look good...
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Sheed is definitely one of those players that'll make a bad situation (what he'd be stepping into here) worse.

You guys talk like Rasheed is a cancer. He is a highly animated player that speaks his mind from time to time. He has never been selfish. He has never been like Artest. He is a energetic team oriented player. Just at times his mouth and aggresive nature gets him into trouble. He would not be as bad on the Knicks as you make him out to be.

I don't see how getting Rasheed will help us. If we are only signing him until his contract runs out then what is the point? We aren't winning a championship in the next 2 years and he would only hurt the growth of guys like Lee/Frye/Morris.

I only want players that are going to be around for the long haul from here on out.

Ok first off Morris sucks, frye doesn't really have a bright future, we are trying to move a few contracts to the pistons, give them some defense and bench scoring while moving a couple of contracts.......

Wallace would be huge next to curry, he plays defense, blks shots and can stretch the defense and actually make threes. We would be an east power if cleveland is competing for a championship with Larry Hughes and Z who will be a year old next season why is it hard to assume, sheed would not vault us to that level if marbury is healthy and mariginal improvement to the games of lee, balkman, and collins occurs which it will......

Your looking at Balkman, Wallace and Collins making up for eddys horrific defense, and then replacing curry with lee shifting wallace to a center. if you add q to that lineup replacing marbury we have a lockdown defense.....

plus, keeping sheed one more year, makes his expiring $13 mil next summer 10X more attractive.

Crawford, Frye, Jefferies is a good deal for detriot, not a bad deal for us......

Frye/Nazar
Dice/Maxiell
Prince/Jefferies
Hamilton/Delfino
Billups/Crawford

Thats still fairly potent, wouldn't want to include our pick but if we have to we have too.....Its worth it not to see jefferies scared to death of dunking the ball and crawford shooting 25 footers

To be fair Martin, the guy did lead the team to the Western Conference finals. Wallace for his entire has been considered a great teammate. He has never given a head coach any trouble. His problem is with NBA officials and weed. People on this forum go nuts and salivate for Kurt Thomas. You want to know who was # 2 on the list after Rasheed after Rodman retired for accumulating techs in a season. I don't ever hear how glad they were to get rid of that headcase. O'Neal credits Wallace for keeping his spirits up while in Portland. The guy is great with younger players. He is passionate about winning. Yeah you are right this team doesn't need that.

personally I would like him, but as was said, if he did leave Detroit I wouldn't be surprised if he seeks to go to a contender

in all reality, i say dumars stands pat - re-signs chauncy and keeps sheed. it makes too much sense not to, especially considering they're still a top team in the east and a tweak here or there and they're back in the finals. building a long term sustained winner ain't easy, and they're still in that mix.

Can't have it both ways...

Either Rasheed is a malcontent that will never be as "docile" as he was under Larry Brown; or he is a key and irreplaceable part of a roster competing to stay on top of the eastern conference meaning trading him is a “rebuild” signal.

I don’t know if it’s either one. Clearly the Pistons must recognize that Sheed is on the tail end of his career and this may be their final chance to sell high, and I’m sure they weren’t happy with his melt-down in the playoffs. They also must think that with the rest of their roster intact, they can replace Wallace with a productive player who is less of a distraction and still compete. As they are not rebuilding but contending now, I don’t imagine that they would balk at taking back a longer contract if the player(s) is right.

Do we have that player(s)? I don’t know, probably not. But the chance that the Pistons are unhappy with him, and given Isiah’s history of taking on other team’s cast-offs and past interest in sheed, Wallace in New York is at least as likely as any of the other rumors floating around this early summer.

Take that for what its worth.

Rasheed is going to be 33 in September. It makes sense for a title contender to try to get him. Doesn't make sense for us.

Good point, unless we suddenly get Kobe.
I'll never trust this' team again.

I would trade Rasheed as long we are not overpaying for him. I can't see who Detroit would want off this team. Maybe a package of Malik and Q? Jefferies and Q?

I am not trading away a lot of youth for him. As long as we still have the pieces to make another move for a shooter at the 2 spot I would move on him. We are starting to acquire too much youth and I see a problem with trying to develop ALL these young guys(especially all these young guys at the 4 spot(Frye, Lee, Sean Williams(?), Randolph Morris)

sheed + dice for marion + diaw?

This is an iteresting trade. Nash is a old fart and that window is closing. Pheonix is trying to get past san Antonio. Would the chance of picking up 2 quality bigs away pheonix to make this deal?

Detroit would be getting 2 small fwds though. Marion has been getting away with being a power fwd. It might rejuvenate that team. Diaw gives the some more depth and a better rotation up front.

Very intresting.

Malik and Frye for sheed?

In reality, dumars aint trading sheed for nothing the knicks have. That's a done deal.

The knicks would be lucky to make a deal. Isiah is gonna have to overpay like always so he has to be very careful and decisive on his next move.
