I like what NYNY said. Collins looks like he has potential to be a solid NBA starting PG. I'd imagine as a regular starter, it wouldn't be a stretch for him to average 12ppg/5apg/4rpg over the course of a season, and perhaps better than that.

Ron Harper was mostly a SG for most of his career, until he reinvented himself w/ Phil Jackson as a PG.

I don't know if we should read into this too much, but Walt Frazier was outspoken about wanting to work w/ Collins. I don't know if he's ever spoken about mentoring/teaching any Knick guards in the past. Walt clearly sees some amazing potential in Collins (he sees himself in a less developed form needing nurturing). It'll be interesting if 1) he every harnesses it, and if he does... if he'll even be a Knick by the time that happens.

I want to see Collins come to games dressed in 70's suits and pimp hats.

Alan Hahn: Nate Robinson has been on a ridonkulous scoring tear lately (remember when he couldn't hit Jerome James with a Big Mac in early January?)

4rbs dude, thats the strongest part of his game......

Final 10 games

14.7pts 6.3rbs 5.8ass 1.9stls 3.3tos

I think those are pretty realistic numbers if you play the guy the whole game, which i think we should marbury can split time with collins in the point role and we can reduce steph to add to his explosion.....

We don't have to deal with Crawfords lack of defense and wild shots and would be much better off and will be a playoff team if collins and balkman minutes go up drastically

MS, those numbers look plausible to me if Collins gets big minutes. Maybe a few less points, depending, but generally I agree, he's going to average more than 4 rebounds a game. Allan Houston averaged 4 boards a game, and Mardy is a much better rebounder than Allan was, that's for sure.

Actually Allan averaged only 2.9 rpg over his career. Come out to 3.4 rebounds per 40 minutes.

For the season Mardy's reb% was 8.0. A few ticks behind Jason Kidd's reb% as a rookie, 8.7, and better than any reb% posted by Gary Payton save for one season. Take it with a grain of salt since he didn't get much PT but it looks like he might be a particularly strong rebounder for a PG.

It's hard to compare a young player to any other player. What we can say about Collins is that he will have a respectable nba career, which in itself is pretty good for someone who was drafted where he was in a weak draft. The rest depends on how successful he is in developing offensive skills.
