on a side note - what the league really needs is contraction. close up shop on 4 franchises: new orleans, charlotte, memphis and seattle. hold a contraction draft and each team's talent level immediately goes up.

I said that for years. Stern was too greedy with Toronto and Vancouver. That was not necessary. Stern now admits to be short sighted about some of these expanison teams but I guess that money must be hard to turn down when they put it in your face.

Add the Clips to that. No city should have two teams unless its NYC.

Charlotte is a homer city that just likes to be a part of somthing.
Seattles issue is a building, not attendance.
Milwaukee is irrelevant satillite of Chicago and does not deserve to have a team.
Memphis should at least change the name of its team if it won't close shop.
NO Hornets are in a bad market.
Oklahoma City is like Charlotte. Homers who need to feel legit by having a big time team.
Kansas City had a team. Lost it. Has an Arena so its entittled.

Teams that deserve cities are Norfok/Hampton Roads/Virginia beach. 3 million people live there! No pro sports!

Mexico City. 10 million people. Mexicans love the NBA! They love us!

Yeah. Add me to the chorus. People love to blame the young black American for the deterioration of the league, but its clear that Stern's excessive expansion efforts have resulted in a watered down product. Add Atlanta to that mix too. Franchise is a black hole.

I didn't know that Mexicans were into the NBA. Do you think there enough fans in Mexico City who will come up with a high enough ticket price to keep an nba franchis going there?

Stern wants to put a franchise in either Mexico, Japan and Europe before he retires. No way does the Player Association sign off on any of those locations.

Perhaps not ticket prices but a large enough venue might work for volume. And for some reason I would think that jersey sales would be good but I am just guessing.

Hey you guys mention starting a team in Mexico City when it might end up being the Shanghai Dragons or the Paris Stompers.

I disagree. Each team has something going for it. Youth, Cap space, Vets, etc. It's just because of injuries that Memphis, Seattle and NOK werent playing for the playoffs. Char was just young.

If anything, I'd add two more teams to the NBA and roll from there.

If I were the NBA, I'd extend the League in Vegas, Paris, London, Madrid, Berlin and go from there.

Didn't the lottery get instituted this way b/c of the Spurs basically cheating to get Tim Duncan?

The lottery was instituted long before Duncan.

The first Lottery was in 85. The Lottery was instituted in that year because Ewing was so good, the NBA decided to give all the teams that weren't good a shot at him.

Stern wanted Ewing in NY, so in turn the media would hype up ewing with the whole of the "NBA DRAFT LOTTERY " being put in effect.

What other city could stern sell the idea better but NYC the media capital of the world !

JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

If I were West, I would be unhappy too if my team had a great chance at landing at least blue chipper and now the best they can do is walk away with a probable bust in Yi.
