^^^^ how are you guys construing trading for O'Neal, with Lee somehow being on the block? Thats just irrational. Milesknicks is right, you guys are too caught up over him, Lee is a solid player; he is not untouchable.

Lee is not just a solid player. He's our best player and a lot younger than JO. He probably would have averaged 13/13 or 14/14 if he'd gotten starter's minutes.

i still don't get why people are talking about trading Lee. he plays hard and produces results, and he's the one on the block? I mean isn't it the other guys who need to start producing or ship out? Francis, Jeffries, Frye, James, etc? he's not untouchable, nobody on the roster is, but imo you exhaust every possible option when trying to get a player like JO who has so many miles on his body, and even when you're down to your last option you rethink whether its really worth it in the long run.

I dont think anyone here wants to see Lee traded. However, Oneal is an allstar, and if the Knicks really want him, Indy is gonna want value in return. Despite being screwed by GS in that trade, Walsh is a schrewed GM and I can't see him taking back a package of Francis, Frye etc....We as fans complain about how soft Frye is.....how Francis overdribbles, doesn't fit into a structured offense, etc....dont you think a GM of Walshes stature can see the same weaknesses in these players? If so why would he want them if we dont. Bottom line, if we want an allstar type player, we have to give up something of value and Lee is the startig point.....

Concerning Lee, I dont think anybody is trying to throw dirt on him, he's an intangible-laden player that will help you win ballgames. No arguments. Its just that with his lack of skill on the offensive end, his ceiling is that of a borderline All-Star level player. There is no way that I would let David Lee stand in the way of acquiring somebody like O'Neal, thinking otherwise is just taking one's "David Lee man crush" way too far.

I wouldnt give Lee away, but O'Neal is an elite talent --- does anybody see Lee reaching that stratosphere?

IMO, we absolutely need intangibles now more than we need another star-caliber player.

Another star-caliber player? Who are these star players this 33 win Knicks team is stocked with?

O'Neal didn't make it to the all star game this year- and I seriously doubt that he'll ever make it again.

His best years are behind him.

If Walsh wants Lee, he can want him all day long- unless they're sending us some first round picks our way, there is no way you include him.

I dont want to come off like I'm endorsing a package of Lee for O'neal. Personally, I'd rather see us keep our youth and build with more youth. However, whether O'neal made the allstar team last yr is irrelevant. Shaq made the allstar team. Was he an allstar? J Oneal put up 19 pts, 10rbs and nearly 3 blks per. Those are allstar numbers, allstar team or no. He's also been on several allstar teams which is something Lee does not have on his resume.

I understand Knick fans love Lee's hustle and all but come on, he's not on J O's level as a player. J O plays both ends of the floor, has the ability to be a number 1 option on offense....its not even that close other than in the minds of Knick fans. Lets be objective here.

franco12--- Where were you J.Oneal was on the All-Star team this year. Come on people get the facts let's look beyond color. Let me first start by saying I love the knicks of the 90's but Oakley how many A11-Star games did he go to????? And lee is not even at that level yet. Please stop it people.

but why should we give up assets and youth for ANOTHER #1 option on offense?

As I said at the top of my post, I'm not endorsing a trade for J O. I'm not sure how he would fit next to Curry. My only point in this thread was to dispute the notion that giving up Lee ( role player) was too much for J O (a proven allstar).

Whether or not Lee turns into anything more than a role player- debatable.

I do not think its debatable that JO will be 29 when the next season starts and that of late, he's been injured a lot.

Sorry, to me, that is a has been all star.

And Lee brings effort, something sorely lacking on this team.

And, Lee is cheap.

Its also not debatable as to whether JO is cheap. He isn't.

For the third time, I am not endorsing a trade of Lee for J O. I would rather build with our youth. But to imply that giving up a role-player for J O is too much is not being realistic.

Jermaine Oneal was on the allstar team last year not debatable

Jermaine put up 19 pts, 10 rebs and nearly 3 blks. Allstar numbers not debatable

If Jermaine aint a franchise player, he's very close to one not debatable

You say jermaine is a has-been allstar....yeah, he has been an allstar last yr and the yr before etc...I dont think its debatable that he can put up allstar numbers again this yr.

At this point, David Lee is a role player not debatable

Will Lee ever reach the level that J O has reached? debatable unlikely.
