I know its a little early for this but fuk it im excited!!! Most people will prolly say they would rather face Cleveland. But I'm not so sure, we have shown we can beat detroit on a number of occasions. (even tho Jamal has been a Piston killer and we will miss him in the playoffs) and Cleveland is playing well............... tough call, but we are only 1/2 game behind Indiana who will prob loose to minnesota tomorrow and surrender the 7th spot.

Is this a hater trick? Repeat same post but swap teams? I notice most haters do this. No offense. Just trying to study the tactics of the opponent.

I think we took care of Cleveland pretty handily last time we were in their house. Beating them in Cleveland gives me confidence Solace.

The one time Cleveland beat us was early in the year to drop us to 2-6 at a time when we were completely lost as a team in MSG.

These are the things that give ME solace.

just learning the intensity of the playoffs is a good experience. you gotta start somewhere. No sense waiting til we're a 50 win team and hitting the playoffs for the first time with the jitters et al.

What did getting bounced in the 1st round of the playoffs do for Mike Sweetney and Frank Williams a few years ago?

Nothing. Because we're talking about Mike Sweetney and Frank Williams.

Regular season wins are much different than post season wins. How many post season wins do we have since Isiah has taken helm? Hmm... could it be zero? We're not a team that can win in the playoffs (if we even make it to the playoffs) until proven otherwise. Enjoy the team, fine, but we're not on Cleveland's level. I would buy that we'd have a *slight* chance of beating Cleveland in the first round. Stranger things have happened. To sweep them, we'd have to be quite superior to Cleveland and dominate them. That's just not realistic. Now if your argument is that we're sweeping Cleveland, we really should put money on that, if you're so sure.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Detroit is a very well balanced team; we have an edge on them at center - they're better or even at every other position. Better two-way players almost across the board.

We're arguably better or equal at every position but LeBron's when matched up against the Cavs.

No one on our team can approach LeBron's brilliance, though.

Solace,

I said we could sweep them. Which is not the same as saying we will. But if you wanna wager something appropriate, lets do it. How about, if the Knicks don't sweep, I owe you a custom-made fire-Isiah t-shirt?

yeah that's something i feel strongly about. early playoff experience has proven to be so good for letting young players mature more quickly than they would have otherwise. even against detroit in the first round, it's valuable experience. they learn a lot about playing under pressure, where to manage themselves in the offense, feeling momentum in the game, stuff like that

Ok, talking about possibilities, it's possible, but when you say it in such a way, you make it sound likely. Tell me, honestly, what do you think the *likely* outcome of the series is? Do the Cavs sweep us, do the Cavs beat us easily, do we take the Cavs to seven, do we beat the Cavs or do we sweep the Cavs? Which is the most likely?

I like to take the temperature of both teams. In 99, that second round, i didn't even wait to say we were going to sweep the Hawks. We had just crushed our biggest post-Jordan foes as an 8 seed and had all the momentum to take a weak (yet highly seeded) Hawk team.

If you ask me today... (and if i can assume Lee and Craw, or at least Lee can play) i say the Knicks win and do it with shocking ease. 6 games most likely.

The Hawks were a fourth seed and we had just pulled off an amazing upset of the #1 seed in the entire east. In addition, we had a good team that was still jelling in a strike shortened season. I think most know and believe that we would've been higher than an eighth seed had it not been for the strike shortened season. Furthermore, is there any doubt that the '99 Knicks are way better than the '07 Knicks? In addition, is there any doubt that the '07 Cavs are considerably better than the '99 Hawks? I don't see the similarities.

Are the CAVS better than those Hawks? No.

I don't like the idea of having to shut down LeBron to have a chance to win.

You don't have to shut down LeBron to have a chance to beat the Cavs. Last season the Pistons beat the Cavs despite allowing LeBron 25.6ppg, 8.6rpg, and 6apg. Not exactly a shut down effort.

The Knicks would be underdogs against the Cavs but at least would have a fighting chance. The Pistons would dismantle us.

everyone in the east has a fighting chance against everyone else in the east except for detroit and a healthier miami.

It's not ridiculous to say that this year's Cavs aren't better than the 99 Hawks. Both teams average about 3 more points per 100 possessions than their opponents. Their winning percentages are basically identical too (.62 for Hawks, .6 currently for the Cavs).

Of course, the 99 Knicks were much better than the current edition, so yeah, the chances of a sweep would be pretty much nil.

the Knicks can beat MIA w/o Wade IMO... Shaq needs that perimeter go to player down the stretch to get his team over the hump... w/o Wade, that team is severely hampered.

Yaah, thats what I should've said. The KNicks won't sweep anyone, we know they're too inconsistent for that. But i give us a shot toe-to-toe with the Cavs for sure. They don't strike any fear into me.
