Come on misterearl, explain why you're on record as saying that clearing cap space "might help", even though you continue to dismiss anybody who even brings up cap space.

I know you're reading this.

Rich - you didn't answer the question.

Override several seasons?

How about "overriding" over a decade, except for the "magic in a bottle abbreviated, strike-shortened" season?

I did answer the question. What does one shot have to do with taking on a multi-year contract at big bucks that Isiah didn't even want?

What are we playing/talking here - basketball or Monopoly?

sheesh

Part of the NBA is managing the salary cap. Isiah turned a salary cap mess into a salary crap monstrosity.

The kool-aid must be going down good today.

Even the late great Ray Charles would've seen this coming. :)

I still want a new GM but I don't mind Zeke as coach. He's so much better at that.

A huge part, especially when you have traded high draft picks.

Just answer the question. Now that I know that you saw it.

Oh yeah. almost forgot

>>The Knicks have improved their winning percentage each month - the only team in the league to do so. Since Nov. 25, they are one game over .500 - 24-23 after a 5-11 start.

Suicide watch? Hardly. I think this is great news on multiple fronts.

First, it shows what a liar Dolan is and what a farce the whole, "Isiah has 1 year to show evident progress" was. The team is 5 games under .500 with a brutal schedule to finish the season. They could easily finish the year 10-15 games under .500. Especially now that they know they don't have to play to keep Isiah. Didn't Dolan come out in midseason to remind everyone that it was going to take the entire season to decide? Well I guess that was nothing but more BS.

I agree with you 100%

Secondly, Isiah still has to do both jobs. I was afraid that Isiah would be able to sneak back to the front office and hire another scapegoat coach. But it appears that his head is still thoroughly on the chopping block when this team shows no signs of progress next season. There won't be anymore comparing them to the absolute lowest of standards. At that point we'll be approaching year 5 of Isiah and still wondering why they can't top 40 wins.

Again, this is no surprise that Isiah is getting an extension, I've been saying it for months now. The timing of it is though, since Dolan has been insisting on waiting until the end of the season. But like I said, that's just proof this whole thing was a sham from the start.

I want to leave something that's going to stand for a long timeI want to leave a legacy,I want to leave tradition.I want to leave an imprint,a blueprint in terms of how people play, and how they coach and how they respond when they put on the Knick uni.

Keep him as coach. Fine. I think it could end up biting some of these players at the end of the day though. I don't think there's any other coach in the league that tries to be their friend, like Isiah does. It would be a splash of reality and cold water in the face if they eventually have a different coach on this or another team.

However, I think Isiah the GM needs to go NOW NOW NOW!

misterearl: "In 2008, Allan Houston and Shandon Anderson come off the books. That should help."

Help what misterearl? Please explain.

we seriously need a new gm.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

Wow I hate this move. I know I know I'm a hater. If the Knicks were inclined to grant an extension at least wait until the Knicks season is complete. Take the case of the Detroit Pistons: Rick Carisle was fired after having won 50 games but because the Pistons were swept in the Conference Finals the owner found that reason enough to fire him. Than ask yourself why the Pistons are continuously in the hunt for NBA Championships while teams like the Knicks are barely flirting with a playoff berth.

Carlisle got fired because LB wanted the job and nothing else...
