I think a Gerald Wallace/Josh Howard/Josh Smith-type. Maybe one half step below these guys. He doesn't have Smith's passing or Howard's scoring potential yet.

Guys, I was at the game yesterday, and it is clear there is a reason why Balkman is not getting more minutes than he does. He is very awkward and clumsy with the ball. If he started as some of you call for, he would be exposed big time. For every "little thing" he does right on defense, he might just do something wrong on the offense. He's very raw.

Is there *anything* that Jeffries, who plays ahead of Balkman, does better than Balkman? (I also don't think Balkman is normally as sloppy as he was yesterday.)

I saw some sprewell like comparisons, which are fair.

Spree came into the NBA as a defensive force, but somehow transpired into an offensive threat, probably with his quick speed. So its not written in stone that Balkman cannot develop offensively. The guy can get 10 points just by scrappin...

What, in anything I posted, implied in the least that I think Jefferies does better?
Jefferies is a waste space... No, he's a waste of plasma.
Just saying that Balkman is not ready to start. Our starting SF has to be either Q or Lee.

Pippen, AK47, Josh Howard, Bruce Bowen, etc etc etc are not great shooters. If Balkman can just become consistant from 15ft in or a 3pt shot like Bowen, he will be fine.

why doesn't frye try to shoot threes? He would hit a good % if he set his feet and was ready to take it and wasn't rushing it.

That's funny. Everybody wants frye to get closer to the basket and Sky wants him to shoot the furthest shot more!!!!!!!!

The only reason not to give Balkman more min would be if everyone playing ahead of him were much better than he was. You seemed to think not giving Balkman more min was reasonable. So I was trying to put 2 and 2 together. Maybe I misunderstood you.

he looks awkward because he has been getting very sporadic minutes... in games where he's been given extended play, he's put up some very respectable statlines this season... given Q is probably the better choice to start games if he's healthy, but if he can't go, Balkman needs to be the guy & not the waste of human plasma.

That other thread was right that if the Knicks want to make the playoffs Lee and Balkman should get 40 and 25 mpg.
