What is he getting better at every month? His defense and rebounding are still just as bad as they were in November.

December, Jan and Feb. Only 3 months. Did you think you would you have seen threads about Curry in the all star game in November? The dominant force he has become on offense is huge. Why not give him some more time to start D and rebounding? I mean, its only been 3 months since November.

The problem I have is that he's not a rookie. His offense has always been there, he was just never given the ball on a consistent basis. His defense and rebounding was always bad and it's still terrible in his 6th year in the league. You can lead a horse to water, but you can't make it drink.

nah dude... his offense has not always been there... before this season his career high was 16 ppg average while he was in CHI... now he's up to 20 & 7 against consistent double teams in the low post... that's a huge improvement on the offensive end... he needs a lot of work on his defense & shotblocking, everyone knows that, but you can't say he's the same player he was last season... he needs to get his butt in the gym & drop some of that weight & improve his stamina, & work on that FT shooting... he gets to the line & now he needs to make teams pay for fouling him on a more consistent basis.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

Last night we didn't force the ball to him every time and he didn't have to use all his energy on offense. The result: He played very good defense and was great on the boards! Imagine if he took his conditioning seriously and had the energy to play hard on both ends of the court!

You guys just need to be fair in your critique. David Lee also goes #2 sometimes. I hate seeing these posts bashing Eddy Curry all the time. Its gone too far. After a win we have several threads bashing EC, and people bring up these examples from the game to bash him. Fine. I am not defending those plays by Eddy. I'm just saying you guys make too big of an issue out of his turnovers and when I point out DLee made similar mistakes, i get all these folks all uptight like we're not allowed to look at DLee with a ctitical eye, as long as he hustles everything is okay. Is that the rule now? As long as DLee gets X rebounds i should shut up? Thats the same thing as saying as long as EC gets X points you should shut up.

This is a very cogent argument.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

there was one play that stuck out in my head from last night:

jameer drives to the hoop, and eddy, instead of stepping up to challenge, stepped AWAY from him and looked to box out. he could've easily just stepped up and made the shot hard for jameer. instead, he shied away and nelson went in for an easy layup.

there was another drive, i think it was jameer or hedo, where eddy actually jumped BACK on the layup attempt.

the guy has no clue. i mean absolutely no clue. you can go to the local ymca and you'll see guys that know how to play defense or at least attempt to. he makes no attempt and he has nba coaches around him 24/7.

his post offense tho, is downright dominating. but his total absence on the other end of the court makes it very difficult for us to build a team since we need a MAJOR piece at the PF spot. not an OK one, but a MAJOR one.

Golden Boy DLee also did the same thing.

Shhh not yet... First its Marbury, he got his, now its Curry's turn, next season it will be Lee.

What a perfect post. I agree 100% which is why I try to bite my tongue on all these kinds of posts because they are infuriating and biased.

Average rebounding in Nov - 6.47
Average rebounding in Feb - 7.5

God I love it when you people are right.

How about critiquing him off his improvement from last season rather than making something up?

7.5 is still pretty bad. Curry was an overall bad player in the month of November anyway. Even Nixluva says he's forgotten about that month.

If you want to base your opinion of Curry on hard stats, be my guest, stats never tell the whole story and Curry is still lax on both the defensive and rebounding ends of the game.

Hey Jay, if you want to get technical, Currys Rebounds per Minute are actually worse now than they were in November.

Feb-.206

Yea, how dare i base my opinion on facts rather than assumption. Is Curry not getting better? Curry may be in his 6th year, but what did Chicago really do for him? What did LB do for him? Isiah has been the only coach to get him to improve and work on his body/game and that has only been going on for less than a season. I understand this is year 6, but he was seriously stunted by Chicago.

I'm glad you're basing your opinion on facts, you said it not me. His rebounding is worse now than it was November. Thats a fact.

I think it's so funny that when you critique something a player does bad, you're automatically deemed a hater. You guys crack me up, maybe I should send Eddy a box of chocolates just to let him know that it's just tough love. Shame on me for wanting the players on my favorite team to play above their heads for once!

See, month. Your words, not mine. Eh, but what can you would expect from someone who based their original post off of assumptions and was proven wrong.

That was a pathetic attempt at rebutting my point. So you're telling me that if Curry had played 3minutes in November and grabbed 0 rebounds and then this month he played 20minutes and grabbed 1 rebound that he was getting better because he got a rebound this time around? Please.

You just won't own up to the fact that Curry's getting 7.5 rebounds this month, but it's also he's playing 36.4minutes a night compared to playing 30.6minutes a night and grabbing 6.5 rebounds in November.

Yeah, he's really gotten better.

I was just rebutting your original post, which was obviously wrong. You are bringing in all these other dimensions that were not in your original post or argument. Yes Curry is playing more, but thats because he is improving both in his game and conditioning. Just based off your example that he plays 6 more minutes a night supports this.

How was my original post wrong? You still havent provided proof. Sure you said he's getting better at rebounding and sure he's averaging 7.5 compared to 6.5 but its because he's playing more minutes. As I said earlier, he's actually grabbing less rebounds per minute this month than he did in November. How is that improvement?

Sure Eddys playing more minutes and based on strict numbers it supports that he's "improved" but he's playing on only one end of the court. His rebounds and blocks per minute are still putrid and worse than the first month of the season, which does not support your point at all.

If you want to grasp at straws fine, it's not my place to tell you not to, but I for one certainly will not.

Your original post was correct. Rebounds/min is obviously a better stat than just total rpg and Curry is NOT improving. Over the past few years, he's actually gotten WORSE. Same with shot-blocking.
