What? Who could do a better job? I'm pretty sure every other starting 2 guard in the league could do a better job. As far as our team is concerned...Marbs, Q Rich, Balkman could all play MUCH better D.

Don't know who the best defending guards in the league are buth Kobe, Parker, Rip, Kidd, Hughes, Bowen, all come to mind...

Nobody tryied to assemle defensive team in NY lately.
This suppoused to be a showup group with some spectacular and controversial action.
Craf is wery nice feet for this.. but Lee... I guess he will be happy to go somewhere else.

What is silly about it?
There's a few posters here whose TVs block out the defensive end of the court. That's why they love Curry and Jamal and our whole team. Obviously any discussion of defense with them is silly.

stopping is a very tough word to use. no guard can "stop" any other guard. but it is troubling that crawford doesn't really even stay in front of his man for the most part or make shots difficult. he is deflecting some entry passes more often now, so he is using his length. but still don't understand how a guy that althetic can't move his feet just a little better to cut off some drives or make attempts tougher.

He's only 26 though DJ, it's a great sign that he's starting to deflect passes, it means he'll only get better!

Since when is Parker and ginobili stoppers? When do they stop anyone? That's bull**** and you guys no it!

D-wade is a solid defender. Especially when he looked stupid trying to guard Craw that night he dropped 50 on him.

Bowen is a good fouler. Most players still get what the are supposed to get on him anyway.

Larry Hughes is nice gathering steals and he can stay in front of his man, as long as the player he is guarding isn't skilled! Craw owns Hughes!

This guy hates JC. I can understand JC not being your cup of tea. BUt Crawford is a scorer, that is his job. He isn't a bigtime superstar scorer on AI, ect, level. But he is paid 6-7 million to be a third, fourth option scorer.

You look around the league and tell me how many guys like JC are blamed for the D. We blame him, as the teams scorer, because our Point guard and Small forward isn't as good defensively as people want to make them out to be.

Or how many of them have to get themselves offense and the team offense. And are on most nights the only offense player who can beat his man and has to take every shot in the fourth. Why do we blame him for coming up short when the teams superstar(marbury) hasn't been that player for this team out side of 5-10 and the Q has been injuried/hurting so bad that he hasn't produced in atleast half of the games this year.

For a guy who should be the third or fourth option, Crawford as a scorer is responsablie for alot on this team every single game. I would rather ride with JC, A real point and A real small forward, then act like we can find the perfect 2 guard who can cover two players who are injuried alot, disappear scoring wise alot and can't guard anybody who is quick alot.

A dude like Hughes can be had most likely in a trade for Crawford.

Would you guys make that trade if it could be done?

If you would do that trade, how much would you fear seeing lebron in town with Craw as a sidekick?

Give me Hughes for JCraw in a heartbeat. I wouldn't fear Crawford. He doesn't shoot it that consistently. Lebron wouldn't help him with hitting jumpers. He ain't going to the hole.
We could be the Dallas Mavs of the East.

^^^ Hughes is about to traded be from the cavs because he isn't good defensively and he doesn't score. WITH LBJ taking all the attention that guy can't score enough, but he is better then Crawford, who is going 1 on 4 because nobody but curry is a threat most nights.............. No knicks fan would make that trade. He makes twice as make and is worst as a player.

Who called them stoppers? Not one person in this thread. I called them above-average defenders. I didn't know Above-Average = Stopper.

Glad we are taking isolated games into consideration.
Bowen is a good fouler. Most players still get what the are supposed to get on him anyway.
Tell that to the coaches that voted him onto the 1st team All-Defense 3 years in a row.

Hughes hardly ever lets anyone get by him on dribble penetration and is quick in the passing lanes. He's definitely a top-notch defender.

I'm just bustin chops. I wasn't gettin on you though nyk.

The spurs are a machine. Tony and manu play good team defense. Tony can't guard Marbs or anyone like him. Manu is the same. Thing is they are good and overplaying and other guys are good at coming in and stopping the ball.

Stopping the ball. The knicks would be so much better if guys just came in and closed up the lane. You can't let guys just get a sprint without getting bumped. You gotta make guys change direction and cause turnovers. That's how the spurs play defense. Not cuz tony and manu can guard, cuz they can't.

He's in the dog house for not being very good period. He is being shopped and hasn't missed a game this season. The guy is not a top notch anything.
