What are the names of the complemetary players that were going to win the Championship with Ewing?
If it didn’t work in Phoenix with Nash and Stoutamire... it’s just not a winning formula. It’s an entertaining formula, but not a winning one. - Derek Harper talking about D'Antoni's System

Why not, you're asking us to do the same thing.

I know you are not keeping track but the leading candidate to replace Flip is Isiah...

I guess you're not keeping track either.

O'Brien Up For Detroit Job If Flip Bolts?
16th February, 2007 - 11:09 am
Pioneer Press -
A source tells Charley Walters that former Celtics and 76ers coach Jim O'Brien would be the front-runner for the Pistons job if Flip Saunders were to leave to coach his alma mater Gophers.

Speculation has been rampant for several weeks now that Saunders might bolt Detroit to coach the University of Minnesota.

This argument as gotten off track. The past is just that. Ewing had a good run with some OK players, but nothing great. just really good role players. He never had that other guy like Shaq has had or Kareem etc. Ewing lost to a team that was very similar just Hakeem and good role players. It was close and they were able to pull it out. One bounce of the ball in our favor and We'd have a championship, but the team wouldn't have been considered one of the elite teams of that period when we look back. Tho I did feel that we had a couple of other squads that could've won the Title during Ewings run. The infamous Charles Smith no call and the Miami Heat suspension year, when Ewing barely moved from the bench. We got robbed in both cases IMO.

Now in regards to Isiah. You all know how I feel about what he's doing. What I think we have to remember is how he had to go about his job, because of Dolan. Dolan didn't want a rebuild, SO Isiah had to make it seem like he really believed he could retool this team and make it work with Steph, H2O and KT. All along tho you could tell that he wanted to go young. He said from the start that he wanted to make the team younger, longer and more athletic. He had his hands tied at first, but then he was able to finally convince Dolan that the H2O/KT era was over. That didn't take him long. Just the half of season in 2003-04 and half of 2004-05. Then he trades Nazr and get's his extra draft picks and from then on he was on to building the team we have now.

In case you can't do the math that's half of season in his 1st year and then half of his 2nd season here. Tell me what other GM has been able to make a course correction like that and succeed in doing it? Last year LB killed what should've been our 1st rebuilding yr. Since the 05 draft we've added 5 1st rd. picks and a bunch of solid young players. So I don't get what it is that so many of you think he did wrong. This group has played for all of 1.5 seasons or less together. Before that his 1st Dolan influenced group had been together for 1.5 seasons or less. Out went all the junk and now we have a team full of young players that still have a lot of promise. AND HE'S NOT DONE YET! We can continue to tweak this team until we get the right balance.

Knicks = Ishtar

So does that mean the '73 Knicks = The Graduate ?
The new new core: Randle, RJ, IQ. Maybe Mitch. Future pick. Future trade. Future FA.

My other ambition is to continue to tweak a Honda Civic to win the Indy 500.

Bwahaha. Nice one.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.
