How am I picking and choosing my stats....This is his fourth year in Houston...

Do you think Jeff is a good coach??

Yes I think Van Gundy is a good coach, do I think he's a Great coach, no, but he's a good coach.

What would you say if Isiah as a coach had 45, 51, and 34 wins with TMac and Yao Ming on his roster??...

4 more years right??

[Edited by - holfresh on 02-16-2007 3:43 PM]

Well let's see, you think that 39, 33, 23 and approximately 37 wins is cause for celebration so based on your scale a 4 year deal sounds about right.

Isiah is a better coach then Jeff Van Gundy period and thats not saying much...

Give Isiah the same amount of years as JVG, with the same squad and he does a much better job...

I don't get this Van Gundy love...

Based on what? His 23-30 record this year? The underachievement in Indiana despite having a healthy team?

Jeff to me is very overrated and benefited from the hype that is New York...He has never had a team that overachieved...When teh Knicks got the the Championship their record was 27-23...Their seeding was the key to them getting to the Championship...What happened the following year???...What has Van Gundy done in his ten year career outside of that 27-23 season???

Yeah Isiahs 3 straight 1st round exits with the Pacers dont count in your world. The talent on those teams was RIDICULOUS, but since it's Isiah you turn a blind eye. Unbelievable.

Oh so now the excuses start. Yet you refuse to even acknowledge the injuries the Rockets have had.

You do realize that the Rockets are a only game and a half behind the Spurs right now.

I don't think much of that argument but ok, that's one year. What about the other 2?

Yoa Ming has been there for the most part...They should have gotten better results with just Yao Ming...With TMac, they should be pushing Dallas and PHX every year....

holfresh, i suggest you bail out of this thread. your opinion of jvg is duly noted. now it's time to move on - bringing up jvg's job in houston is not helping your argument. so as a friend i suggest you let this thread go.

Maybe they would have if they hadn't missed as many games as they did.

33-19 is nothing! JVG must be a terrible coach since they've lost 19 times.

Holfresh, Yao has only played 27 games this year and the Rockets are 33-19 in the toughest division basketball knows. Yeah, Isiah is a better coach than JVG What kind of world do you live in?

Don't be so hard on holfresh. We should thank him for expressing this opinion. Now we can throw it in his face everytime he praises Isiah.

It's a good thing MSG policy is to criticize JVG as often as they can.

Lets put it this way....

JVG is doing better with his $64M roster than Isiah is doing with his $110M roster (i left out Houston and Anderson).
