Just because a player plays center in college does not mean they are a center. Glen Robinson played center in college and became an excellent sf in the NBA.
was Glen Robinson 6'11 and 250 pounds? No.. more like 6'7 220. Thats kinda different

Frye's build in terms of height and weight is consistant with NBA centers.

It really doesn't matter where the guy plays as long as he is effective where ever the coach ask him to play...The Lee faithful wants him traded so Lee can inherit the position all to himself...Does that make the team better, probably not...Getting rid of Frye would only make the Knicks need a new PF or center or whatever you want to call him...

great point. When Frye's been played at center he's been effective. When he's been played at PF he's been terrible. Kinda the reason Ive been saying he should be playing at center.

Lee's earned the majority minutes at PF. Earned them. This isnt about favortism, its about effective play. Same reason I want to see JJ sit and Balkman get his minutes, because RB has played better.

Then there was this tall guy name Charles Smith.

But seriously I think Frye can't take the pounding against centers in this league right now night in and night out with major minutes. There is a reason why Duncan refuses to play center every year. Duncan has express several times that he would perfer to play pf. So what should we think about Frye?

Good points. I feel Frye has been jerked this season by Isiah, but let's see how Frye finishes this season.

Personally I think Isiah is going to say to Dolan look at the great job that I am doing. I have Curry who was an allstar candidate, and Lee who is up there for 6 man of the year.

Boris Diaw took the beating. Kurt Thomas took the beating. Its Frye's natural postion. Let him play it... thats all I'm saying. Isiah has asked him to do something he's not comfortable with (clearly) and he's been awful.

Just end the experiment and let him do what almost won him ROY last year.

BigC - c'mon, Frye has started nearly every game in just his second year in the league. How is that being jerked?

Does Frye look unhappy?

Frye is the golden boy of NY. Jared gets booed but frye doesn't? People are expecting duncan and KG out of frye when that is just impossible cuz frye is too slow and less skilled.

I'm sick of it. The guy can shoot so just ignore the fact he is the biggest retard on the court?

Frye is a jumpshooting center. The knicks have "shoulda been and all-star" curry on the roster. Frye should be florishing still cuz frye can play out of currys way with the jumpshot, buy the ****ing guy sucks because he doesn't impact the game in any other way. If frye was still mixing it up getting blocks, charges and loose balls, then a guy like me would not be complaining. The guy to me seems like a pretty boy retard that has no clue how to play the game. He is too freakin slow footed.

Benching frye is fine but in the business of basketball the mofo needs to be traded. The knicks need to get better as a team.

Does this guy look happy to you?

Also the answer to your question is yes he looked happy yesterday.

But two weeks ago he did not look happy. A player sometimes is happy when they get major minutes and they are there to close out games. Frye only plays 26 minutes. Do you think that is enough minutes for a starter and is that the norm for a starter?

Right now if he plays good off the bench I don't care of he starts or is off the bench. I just want this team to start winning.

Frye has has not really played the center position this year...Because player post up, he is not necessarily playing center...

He didn't play center against Orlando...

So that means when Curry was out with fouls and Jerome james was on the bench, Frye was still playing Power Forward in Orlando???? In the second half.

We can call it whatever we like, but he was setting up 15-20 feet from the basket. When Curry leaves the game Frye does not automatically become a center, he's still the same player. He might get a couple more low post opportunities, but I don't think that makes him a center.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Frye just needs a few opportunities near the basket early to get the confidence and feel flowing... and he'll be money w/ the jumper the rest of the game.

I don't know why you guys are pushing aroung our big SG. LOL
We have no better replacement for Allan Huston yet.
Smoebody needs to shoot... So we have Fry...
If he will not lunch (and make) this long jumpers he will get what - 2-4 points per game.
He is no better center that PF...

The team needs a starting PF, bottom line. Isiah knows this and that is why this is going on. He figures "outsize" them versus contiuing with our weak interior play. Plus Frye is not complimentary to Curry- I do think Frye is a center. He can block shots and rebound but under the basket! Curry currently resides in that area. Frye is consistently taking low %age shots which hurt our team.

I say this experiment lasts about 2-5 games (until we trade Francis & Nate for a PF and back-up PG...LOL) because Clips have Kayman and Brand, legit front court- and Milsap (boozer) and Okur...Odom and Bynum, not so much but in GS, all we have to do is slow the game down. Lee would be a nice option at this point because he helps Eddy greatly on the boards. We have enough jump shooters that we dont need a jump shooting PF. Lee is the obvious in-house choice, but I guess Zekey-poo sees otherwise.

We shall see what happens but Isiah made this change for a reason- he knows that Curry needs help on the D and someone to help him clog the paint...Jerome is large and accomplishes this in limited mins. He is doing this to mask Eddy's deficiencies. Isiah also knows that we need a stud PF. You don't normally change the SL to this degree at this point in the season. Frye's defensive deficiencies as a PF next to Eddy only exacerbate Eddy's defensive ineptitude.

It worked last nite...we have to see how well and IF it continues to work in the next few games.

That's what Im saying. Ho many do you what me to find if Curry played 40 minutes last night. And Frye still looked his best in those 8-9 minutes.

Dave Cowens often set up 15-20 ft from the basket. So did Bill Laimbeer. Even Patrick Ewing set up from about 15 ft sometimes.

so its where you set up? So when Ewing took all those jumpers he wasnt playing center anymore? Maybe when QRich posts smaller guards he's moved to center? This is just silly

Believe what you want... but Queenie is right, and this will last 3 minutes into the Clipper game when SnacksI or SnacksII has to guard Brand.

Also we just won, so our guys will go back to loaf mode until we lose horribly again.
