Would you root for the Knicks to lose if it meant Isiah was fired and a competent GM replaced him that turned them into a contending team in 5 years, with the alternative being competing for the 7th and 8th seed for the next 10 years,at best, with no chance of contending for a championship?

The more accurate question is:

"how many years would it require a yet-to-be-named, mystery GM, in NEW YORK CITY... starting with THIS roster, to repaint the championship artistry of Eddie Donovan?"

You can't excuse the salary cap mismanagement.

I may not be a very good fan, but I've never felt like I wanted the team to lose, even when Scott Layden was the GM.

So Isiah gets fired - who's the next GM? Will he be what the Knicks need? Dolan's track record isn't very good in this regard. He could be someone worse. Be careful what you wish for.

https:// It's not so hard.

keep this on the DL but i'm 2nd in line to be the GM and president.
only problem is that everybody else is tied for first.

when we had a lottery pick i wanted to tank so we could have a chance at Lebron or Bosh instead of settling for late lottery talent... i guess that makes me a horrible Knicks fan in some people's opinion... to me that's just valueing longterm success while sacrificing short term failure over settling for the short term minimal gain of mediocrity... if we had a lottery pick this year, i'd be in favor of tanking the season for a shot at Oden too.

The salary cap was mismanaged long before Isiah Thomas was in the room. You can either sit on your hands for three years (which would have had people labelling him as a "do-nothing") or you get aggressive by any means available.

He chose the latter.

One more thing, the New York Knicks will NEVER be under the salary cap. It ain't that kind of party.

Oh yeah, "it ain't my money"
