Why is Curry's weight such a big deal when he is playing 33 plus minutes and is scoring on guys off the dribble like J Oneal?

When he played on the Bulls he came in camp losing a ton of weight yet he was not able to close out games.

b/c it takes him forever to react to anything on defense. he literally takes a long time to recognize, then a long time to move. weight loss can only help his career, not hurt it.

Is that because of his weight or is it because he plays bad defense? Look at Frye, he is in shape what is going with his defense? Certain players have to be taught how to play defense and adjust their timing to make things work.

Have people thought that Curry's weight is what gives him an advantage on the offensive end?

I have watched Curry when he came into camp in shape on the Bulls and I can tell you he was not scoring at will in the post. In some games he actually looked like he was getting bullied around.

^^^ well, a couple things. One is this isnt a team of rookies. Isiah has spend quarter of a billion dollars to bring in experienced players that can win (remember the Dolan mandate).

Marbury, JJSkinny, Crawford, Richardson, MAlik Rose, Francis and Jerome JAmes have all been in the league for some time and are being paid a lot money. Its not unfair to expect some wins when you go out and spend what Isiah did on NBA veterans. 23 wins is where Isiah put us, NOT where we are starting from. So get that measuring stick out of the equation.

As for stages of improvement I would much rather be talking about guys improving their games, then talking about how nice it would be if the guy our GM annoited to be our franchise player showed up in shape to play the sport he gets paid $10mill a year to play.

Right now the core of this team is Curry-24yrsold..Frye-23yrs old...Lee-23yrs old..Craw-26yrs old...
Q-26yrs old..Marbs 29 yrs old...Nate and Balkman on the bench...Thats young...Win now...Not even..23 wins is a result of LB's actions..Lb could have done a better job of coaching this team than Zeke ever will be he chose not to...Fact remains this young core showing up at 39 or 40 wins put the Knicks in a much better situation than what Isiah met here because of the age difference and upside potential of this group as a whole...Curry is making 8 mil a yr and 9 mil per next yr...A bargain in NBA terms...He is in shape, and is one of the better centers in the league...You are still harping on the guy being out of shape last season after his heart ailment...Well he is shape this season and playing well and you are still not happy..Not sure what else to say...

courtesy of majorleads:

"I bet if Isiah played Lee at center and had Marbury dump the ball into him 20 plus times a game, Lee would find a way too average 20 and 10."

Yeah but would the Knicks win ball games?

nobody knows the question to that. steph was 20&8 and didn't win. SAR was 20&8 but didn't win. zach is 20&10 but didn't win. i wouldn't consider what we're doing now as technically winning. and what would the difference be if it was eddy or lee getting those #'s?

In our 18 wins Curry averages 21.6ppg
In our 24 losses Curry averages 17.3ppg

Seems to me Curry scoring over 20 does indeed help us win.
Almost every player will have better #s in wins than in losses, partly because on average your wins are against tougher teams.

On the topic of the thread, Curry's definitely improved his scoring and is outstanding at it.

I don't think he needs to lose 30 pds but a nice 15-20. That will help his bounce to grab rebs. And maybe challege shots.

He also needs to focus as much on defense as he has on offense. But that I guess is all part of the process. Finish mastering his offense this season. Like passing out of the post. And then put 100% effort on improving rebounding and defense next season.

Can't argue about the weight. But we could back off a little on killing him for his defense for another yr. Though we all agree it horrible.
