If we can argue we have seen Frye's ceiling already. Just a big man shooter, soft defender. Then what about DLees ceiling? Hustle man, putback guy. Never gonna be anything more. Never gonna be able to defend a post.
I'm not down for limiting either of these players. Both have the potential to be more than what we see today. Both can improve their weaknesses, but only one is an offensive threat that can spread the floor and keep taller defenders out of the paint. Which by the way, helps hustle guys like Lee get rebounds.
Not at all. I saw David Lee in college as well and didn't think he was anything special, I wasn't really in favor of the draftpick when Isiah drafted him, glad he's turned out as well as he has. Lee has shown an absolute improvement from his game in college to his game in the NBA. Frye on the other hand is the same thing that he was in 2001 when he played his first game at Arizona. A SG who is 6'11.
Of course I agree that both CAN improve and I hope both improve, without a doubt. At the same time, I've seen Frye alot the last 5 years and I haven't seen his game change all that much which leads me to believe he has a much lesser chance of improving. I hope I'm wrong.
