The D is what I'm impressed with. A lot of people have been on the guy for a few years now about his defense. WE always heard that he had no lateral quickness and was getting burned just like every other PG in the league because PG's can't be guarded. Blah, blah, blah. Now magically he's gotten lateral quickness and must be playing against PG's that aren't quick because his defense is like night and day. Orrrrrrr...........at least for these five games he's realizing that he wasn't being treated unfairly by the fans and is actually giving an honest effort on both ends.

He was being treated unfairly, maybe not in terms of defense, but in general he was.

Marbury always gives a good effort defensively. He seems to guard 2 guards a lot better than pg's. He's one of the few of our perimeter players that aggressively tries to fight thought screens.
"Man, who knows with this team." Aguirre.

wow, have u guys watched the games earlier this season & last year when Marbury was leaving guys wide open on the perimeter because he was too lazy to bother to fight through screens & over picks? he's played great defense the past week... let's see him sustain this over the rest of the season... u guys think the fans booed him even though he was giving a full effort on the D? please.

I agree with you in general. I was the first one on the parade defending him when they were booing him last year. I think he does get scapegoated. But I do think he's brought a lot of this on himself and I do not feel sorry for him. When you focus on the side stuff and not on basketball you will get boo'd if you don't perform. You and I may not agree with it but that's just life. That's why the greats of the game that are beloved by the fans normally pay attention to the game.

So in summary: I agree that the booing was ridiculous. But the opinions that people have about Marbs in general are dead on correct and not unfair in the least. Just because he's changed and performed for 5 games now does not erase the pouting on the bench and just being an overall bore the last few years. Truth is truth. Now the fans are cheering him. If he pulls the "I'm the greatest in the world" crap again he will get a negative response and it will be deserved.

The guy got a bad rap in this town because of the feud with LB...Lots of people sided with LB including yourself...To say he has been a bore the last few years isn't entirely truthful either...He played well his first year here before he was pulled into Larry's pit of darkness...

I'm impressed that it seems like Marbs want to toughest assignment on defense...Thats leadership by action my friends...I have always defended Marbury because I thought what LB did last year was unfair to the players and the organization...Good to see Marbury concentrate on basketball again without the distractions he had all of last year...

You are missing a lot of history if you think it started with LB. The truth is the guy has had a bad rap through leaving Minnesota, "all alone" in NJ and the "magical turnaround" in Phoenix. Then when he came to NY fans were more than willing to give him a second chance. They cheered every move he made and welcomed him home. Then we had to sit through more blaming of teammates, the "I'm the greatest" saga, bickering with his coach and pouting during comebacks and you can understand where fans are coming from.

Listen I understand that some of you guys love him. Some feel he is their favorite. That's fine. Noone is telling you to hate him. You can love him. But you can't fault people for criticizing him for his past actions. Truth is truth whether you liek someone or not. And it's okay to admit it. You don't have to hate someone to admit they've made some mistakes. We all have.

Judging by the standing O he has gotten on 2 of the last 5 nights fans are very willing to forgive him AGAIN. But this does not erase the past and make people wrong for criticizing his actions.

NY fans are the most forgiving in all of sports... we want our players to succeed (most of us anyway)... guys like ARod & Marbury who will get booed for not coming through in the past will get cheered wildly if they do... it's because of how passionate we all are about our teams, & how demanding we are with the players we root for.

And if you don't like it, don't sign the contract. Play in Utah.

Ive been sayin this since day one. the knicks will go nowhere if Steph is not the primary option. Let him penetrate for his own shot or create for others. Isiah needs to shorten his rotation. Steph just has to continue to play his game. Leave Nate on the bench. Steph is a star... let him play like one and carry these Knicks

In the short term I agree with you. When he's playing well he is clearly our best player. But I think this is our dilemma. Ultimately if we are going to start going deep into the playoffs it will come as Eddie Curry develops. By the time that occurs realistically Steph will be on the downside. So we have to be careful to try to create a balance of allowing Steph to be Steph and possibly helping us into the playoffs today. And making sure that we teach Eddie what it takes to CARRY A TEAM(at least offensively). It's a tough thing to do.

agreed... for this team to go anywhere, they need to keep featuring Curry & let everyone else play off of him... when you get ur bigman involved early they tend to give more of an effort on the D & the boards also... the last thing u want to do is make Curry feel like he's not getting the ball & he starts to lose focus on the court & go back to being lazy & uninterested... a PG's job is to get his other teammates involved in the game... Marbury's been doing a great job the past week & getting alot of his points in transition & penetration into the lane while still getting his other teammates involved in the action... kudos need to go to Jamal also for taking on more of an orchestrator's mentality the past couple games... there's nothing i would change in the way either 1 of them have been playing lately... let's just hope it continues.
