But wont Philadelphia sign extension long (well, year) before that season? So, wont matter.

I could be wrong though, not sure when it's his time for extension.

EDIT: And I was.

That team(denver) will challenge for the western title, should also be fun to watch AI ball with the team before mello comes back.

I don't think denver does that deal if mello isn't suspended, but now AI can establish himself with his new teamates without mello and be accepted as a proven leader.

Then when mello comes back he fits in and does his thing as a scorer
JAMES DOLAN on Isiah : He's a good friend of mine and of the organization and I will continue to solicit his views. He will always have strong ties to me and the team.

well i would always put my money on something called "sham"

two questions:

1. does isiah get credit for sending iverson to denver? you gotta think melo's suspension expedited the process. heck, isiah could also get credit for rebuilding philly :)

2. when do they announce lb as the head coach in philly already?

Philly's in good shape for the future. Iguodala and Carney on the wings. Miller is a very good point guard. Dalembert will get better and Webber's outside shooting helps. You can make this work as an up tempo team. And, of course, three total 1st round picks in the bigtime draft this summer.

I might be in the minority here, but I think Denver could make a championship run with this move. Whether Iverson or Anthony become the centerpiece of the offense is not important. There are enough recipients/finishers on this team to make the offense unguardable. Anthony, Camby and Nene can finish in traffic and JR can bomb away from 3pt range. Both Iverson and Anthony can make plays at the end of the shot clock. There's enough rebounding there to win a lot of possessions and Camby is a premier interior defender. Thats gonna be a tough team to beat.

DJ is correct if he were to sign an extension it wouldn't kick in until the following yr. Only a certain % of his $3mil+ salary would count against their salary which would be his cap hold. They could go over the cap to give him an extension if necessary. Regardless they are looking more than likely at just 1 yr of cap space. It's overrated in some respects, I mean look how long ATL, Bobcats have been under the cap. People have to want to sign there in order for cap room to truly be an asset.

Yeah, but shouldn't he sign that extension next year (2007/2008), and that would kick in year after that (2008/2009). If they don't sign him, could risk losing him either via restricted agency or qualifying offer year after...?

And as that would be around $10m (most likely imo) they'd be again at around $45m - some $10m under the cap. But not counting other signings. That's still nice sum to be under the cap...

Larry advised King who traded To Karl who is friends with Larry.

Larry endorsed this to Karl.

IA when on this planet was great with Larry. Karl knows what he is getting. JR Smith must becoem a complete player to compliment AI and Melo.

This will be interesting to watch. As a hoop fan, this can be fun.

Good point but then a team takes away the option of setting market value for their player. Maybe Iggy won't be worth that kind of cash.

^^^^ YOu're right. 07/08 would be AI2 walk year if he didn't get his contract that year......

Andre Miller, Dallas pick(28-31), Nuggets pick(20-25) for AI??? Dn't think that is a goo trade for Iverson if you ask me. THey do not get under the cap and they do not even half of the talent back.

Denver is going to need to trade JR SMith for a point guard if this trade is going to work for them. THey wi miss Andreas playing, especially when getting the ball to Melo, AI and the rest of the team.
I would trade JR smith and Evans for Brevin Knight, Othella Harrington or hMelvin Ely...

melo doesn't even like andre miller , that's another reason why he was traded.

ya if im denver i deal boykins and 1 of their young guys for a true backup point...

watson, blake, etc, etc.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

that is an AWESOME deal for philly!!!

I agree...I'm not high on A.Miller, but he is a dependable PG. The NEW A.I. (Andre Igoudala) is going to have to step up

and two first round draft picks in one of the deepest drafts in a while...wow. Good job Philly.

Iverson is going to have to change his game drastically....I see problems with G.Karl.

i hope AI takes over their scoring & completely alienates Carmelo in the process.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.

IMHO, bad trade for both teams. You take away the top distributor from the Nuggets and add another 30 pt scorer and a guy that needs to dominate the ball. How do you reconcile getting both Ivo and Melo their shots. I have a feeling the whole isn't greater than the sum of the parts here.

>he has grown up a bit

For the last several years, he's been playing beautiful team ball. He is a hair slower now than he used to be and he's not as likely to head for the basket from midcourt but he more than makes up for it by playing smarter ball. For my money, he's still the most interesting player in the league. It's a shame he wasted a couple years being a bonehead early on. There were a few Philly teams that almost got it together but bad luck and poor management has mostly produced AI plus scrubs teams throughout his career.

I think Melo and AI together might work but it's going to require some serious coaching, patience on AI's part, and a bit of re-learning on Melo's end. IMO, AI plays a lot smarter ball than Melo. Probably the best thing Melo can do is to completely turn the team over to AI and then focus on doing the team thing and learn from AI.
