I wouldn't jump the gun on this one. David Lee's minutes have not gotten cut yet. He's just going to the bench. Isiah may be saying that David has proven he is equally effective off the bench as he is starting so he's not worried about whether he starts or not but will get equal minutes. He also appears to be saying this move is to try and get the Knicks started on a good foot in the 1st quarter which has been a killer for us even with Lee in the starting line-up. I would just wait and see before I threw a fit over this one. Of course this would make even more sense if Isiah put QRich at the starting 2 and keep Lee at the PF spot. Then you have a PG, 2 wings that can play some D, a rebounder and a post up player. But not everything Isiah does makes a ton of sense. He is apparently still experimenting at this point. Something he would never allow one of his other coach's to do.

why can't Isiah have the balls to bench Marbury? the guy's clearly 1 of the main reasons this team gets off to such slow starts... everytime he leaves the floor the team makes its run... it's like freakin' clockwork!

start these 5 guys for cripes sake!

C - Curry
PF - Lee
SF - Jefferies
SG - Q Rich
PG - Jamal

TMS-eventually I think that will be the lineup we go with.

Good point. Also, I think when Frye comes back (hate or love it) the lineup will look like this:

Curry
Frye
JJ
Q
Marb

Are you really comfortable with Jamal running the point? Except for the last 2 weeks, he looked awful trying to run the point last yr.

very comfortable... i think he's at his best when he's asked to orchestrate rather than be a free shooter... he plays under control & makes smarter decisions w/the ball... he put up 25 & 9 the other night, largely in an orchestrator's role... yes, i know he started alongside Marbury in the backcourt, but for large stretches of the game it was Crawford setting up the offense, especially when Nate or Q was on the floor as his backcourt mate.

as for last season, i thought it was the best of his career playing under LB... i don't know what makes you think he looked awful running the point last season to be honest.

I'm not comfortable with any of our guys running the point. But in this situation we aren't changing minutes or how often each player plays what position. What we are trying to do is change the start of the games. Get some energy to start. When Jamal starts he seems to bring energy so at least at this point he makes the most sense in the starting line-up. Plus, that line-up shows more of a commitment to a youth movement with a leader in Q.

I'm not amazed by this move. What will be the real test is when Frye and Francis comes back, what does Isiah do with Q. That will be the real test.

JJ is one of our two best players?
Has Isiah been watching Lee at all this season?

Yes Isiah has been watching Lee this year and he has played real well but the fact is Lee isn't strong on the defense. He needs work on defense. Lee gets abused by any PF that has any type of offensive capability. That is why Frye is a better option at starting than Lee. JJ might be a better option also just for the sake of defense. Lee is vital role player off the bench no doubt about it.

Thats a nice lineup but when Frye gets back I have to start him at the pf position over Lee. I like Lees hustle more coming off the bench he gives the KNicks options.

Sounds like Isiah is trying to get David Lee the 6th man of the year award. Winning awards counts as progress. Progress means Isiah will be around next season.

If Curry makes the All-star team, and Lee gets the 6th man of the year award (and is a top candidate for most improved)... I think Thomas's job will be secured. And that's all w/o making the playoffs. The playoffs would be cake--- since that'd guarantee we're not looking like goats in the Oden sweepstakes.

i would think winning games is his #1 priority at this point & the best way to save his job rather than getting his players individual accolades.

LOL, Isiah just used the excuse "if we make more foul shots, we'd have 3 or 4 more wins"

That is just plain lunacy to the third degree.

I don't think it really makes a difference if Lee starts are or not at this point. Lee's defense has looked horrible for a couple of games.

It will be interesting to see what Jeffries can do. However I must say watching Jeffries all these years don't expect him to able to do anything but play defense and pass the ball.

I think Jefferies play so far tonight shows why he belongs in starting lineup. He kind of reminds me of Camby in that he is long a lanky and doesn't need any plays. It's not a slight to Lee to not start him or Isiah not seeing the bigger picture. It's just Jefferies is a better fit for the starting lineup. Besides Lee is prone to defensive lapses and turnovers.

When Isaiah said that Jeffries and Q were his two best players, I think he meant best defensively.
