My .02

Eddy Curry must focus all his energy in improving himself before he can concentrate on how to make his teammates better.

I won't say he hasn't made any strides since coming here. Although..it would have taken an effort to NOT improve from last season's dismal showing.

I have hope for Curry putting some Rodman/Barkley into his rebounding game. Till then I always get a kick out of these types of plays:

Curry is guarding ["guarding'] someone in the post.

Opposing players throws up a shot.

Opposing Big Eddy is guarding leaps for the rebound. Curry's feet still on the floor, eyes on god knows where.

Curry is between the opposing big and the basket normally as he does not need to front many players. Thus I find it hilarious that somehow they get to the ball and he doesn't.

Maybe Q needs to shout "SHOT. EDDY. BOARD!!!!" every time a shot goes up?

I did see a play where it looked like he ripped down a rebound during the Wiz game.

Hope springs eternal in the Garden of Madison

i have a bad feeling about the Bucks... if Michael Redd goes off like Arenas did last night, we're in for another long night... hopefully Curry can help his teammates play better perimeter defense tonight.

Or at least try to defend guards who run into the lane. Novel concept.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

i think curry makes his teamates better enough. centers generally speaking dont average a ton of assists. besides currys noticably improved in the area of passing out of double teams from last season.

Eddy Curry scores alot of points when he's given the ball and he does nothing else on the court. No defense, no help defense, no intimidation in the paint, NOTHING.

I don't mind keeping Curry if we have too, but if I was given the chance, I'd let him go for expirings or draft picks and hope to find for an all-around good center and instead have a PF of the Bosh type be our dominant frontcourt player. You get these guys in the draft, you don't get them in the trades and you don't sign them in free-agency. You HAVE TO draft this guy.

All in all, no he doesnt make anyone better.

If he ever learns to pass out of a double team then yes. Until then, no. He's made himself better but he does not help his teammates

The simple fact that Curry is playing better than he ever has and all people comment on is his downside shows the hatred. The simple fact that Curry is playing better than most the guys on the team and all some posters can focus on is bashing him instead of other players shows the hatred.
I think a lot of the hatred is Isiah related. It is rare to see a Curry hater that doesnt hate Isiah as well. People hate Curry for a trade Isiah made. How illogical is that? Curry didnt make the trade. Isiah did. All we see from Curry is our leading scorer, 2nd leading rebounder, a 54% shooter and a guy that unlike many Knicks is working to improve his game.

Substitute "marbury" every time you say "curry" and you'll have the exact type of post I've been reading for 3 years.

LOL I was thinking the same exact thing. But I thought Marbury was hated because he fought with teammates and was considerd a chemistry killer. Curry is quiet and humble.

The plan changed when Curry was traded for. First it was Marbury with Houston. Then Marbury with Crawford. Now Curry is the face of the team. But Marbury & Crawford & Francis are just not a good fit with Curry. With Curry we need guards that stop penitration who can shoot outside. A floor general at PG. Shotblocking, rebounding bangers at forward & backup center.

20-10 at the center positon is not the same as 20-8 at the pg position. There are very few teams that can get a 20-10 center. So that would put the this team one up on a lot of teams. Just that all the other pieces are not put together around him well.

Id say keep Lee, swap Frye for a versitile inside outside SF who can consistantly shoot threes. Keep Q, Balk, Nate. Move Marbury, Franchise, Crawford for players that can stop penitration & hit outside jumpers. Get rid of James and bring in someone that can be a productive defensive backup center. Rose for an athletic shotblocking rebounding forward

Curry will also never be a leadership type. Q has been good in that are. We need a floor general though. We should see what we got in Collins. Id like to see Curry in that type of situiation.

I see Eddy doing a better job passing out of the post to open guards on the perimeter. He's not Shaq but he has shown some progress. It looks like Curry is finally learning to do the little things needed to be successful in the nba.

I disagree. He's only scoring more because he's getting more looks from the guards and his FG% is barely above his career average. I really don't think he's that much better, he just looks better because he's actually being featured.

there's something to be said for Eddy's improved stamina, ability to stay out of foul trouble, & better moves in the low post... that to me shows improvement... i don't expect him to become a good defender or shotblocker... if in time he can learn defensive rotations & learn to box out on the glass so he can grab more rebounds, i'm satisfied.

right now he's growing into 1 of the few consistent low post scoring options this franchise has had since i've been following this team... first it was Cartwright, then Ewing, then LJ... ever since then we haven't had a guy who was capable of 20 & 10 type #'s out of the low post... i'm encouraged by what i'm seeing out of Curry this season... i'm hoping his development into a more well rounded C continues & doesn't level off w/just his offensive consistency.

While he is getting 20pts a game because he is being featured. His low post moves are way more consistant. He actually looks like he has a better feel around the basket than he has shown with the Knicks all last season. He isn't trying to take people off the dribble anymore. He is using drop steps and spin moves. He is also getting better position which is allowing his jump hook to be more consistant as well. He is also avoiding running over people.

Whats funny is some of you guys absolutly killed our guards last yr for not featuring Curry first when it was Larry Browns plan. Now Curry improves his game and is featured and is producing. Now Curry is getting bashed for it(not a dig at you Bippity). Curry is who he is. Get a backup Center that compliments him and play matchups thats the only thing we can really do. And though Curry doesn't provide the intimidation and rebounding that is preferd. He still provides an ability that very very few teams have. Getting a defeinsive minded center who can intimidate & rebound is a lot easier than landing a natural center who can score 20pts a game strictly in the low post. Its not that hard to land a defensive minded center to backup Curry and come in when its needed.

And Curry's passing is improving, its not great but its improveing. He should look to make his moves only to kick out sometimes. Which I see Curry cappable of doing if thats what Isiah wanted him to focus on.

you can argue curry's performance is similiar to marbury's, but two things:

1.) as a fan im not touting him as our savior, and either really are the knicks. just isiah is.

2.) he doesnt piss off teammates and create mutiny.

3.) he's still young and has trade value b/c he's not 30 y/o making 20 mill.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.
