Hey if some Ny fans want to act like ignorant tamper tantrum 2 year olds thats fine. If they want to make us have a home court disadvantage fine. Booing makes players tiogght and afraid of making a mistake. If fans want to be PART of the problem go for it. Dont complain when it takes another 33 years to win a championship

So what your really saying is that the Knicks haven't won because the fans boo and not because the players on this team suck.
That's the same misinterpretation Briggs kept making. All he's saying is booeing makes matters worse, causes players to hate playing for NY, and probably deters good FAs from ever coming here.

cash money. you throw the dough, players will come. yankees get the best free agents every year b/c they give them top $$$.

That explains why so many players avoided the Knicks and Rangers for years despite better offers. This goes back for many years. Remember our offer to Kevin Mchale? When you get players that only come for the money above all else you end up with problems.

First off those boos about the entire state of Knicks basketball its not about that game perse but about Dolan, Isiah, and whole entire mess. Most Knick fans approached this season with pessimism and hoping that this whole Isiah fiasco will come to an end even if that means having another losing season. Fans are trying to send and the message to Isiah that he is no long welcomed in MSG unless something drastic happens like the Knicks playing consistently well hahaha.

I don't want people coming here if they are afraid of fans booing!

The Yanks have nor problem getting anybody they want, the Rangers have gotten star players for years, even the ones that actually worked out like oh I don't know, Messier, Gretzky, and now Jagr.

Like somebody said Houston came, so did LJ, and we probably could had somebody else over Childs who back than was a hot commodity.

The reason people havent come here recently is because we have so far over th cap we only work out sign and trades.

The whole argument about players not coming here because the fans are tough is full of shiat.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

If your afraid of getting booed you don't belong in NY.

I agree that booing in NY can be OBNOXIOUS. I have never personally booed anyone--but that's how it is. That being said, I've never heard of this discussion in 30 years until recently. I watched the game--I was not there but I agree with the booing. People PAY a lot of money to see a good product. To continually fall behind double-digits--- so easily--- so early at home will be met with a response after 5-6 years on the downside. The fans at the Garden will light up at ANY positive point--and they did so even behind 20+ points. But the lethargy that leads these games into huge deficts in the 1st and 2nd Q isn't going to be tolerated. My suggestion to the NY Knick players is play hard and well for 48 minutes. They've played porous, ineffecient and lethargic 1st halfs at home. I think that they OWE the paying customer the full 48 minutes at this point. That's business

Like I said, I don't have a problem booing effort. It can be an effective wake-up call. My problem is the egregiousness of the booing. You don't even have to look at the stats to see the tentativness that players, OUR players show at MSG. The only ones who are aggressive are the players who don't get booed. Telling them to suck it up because they get paid millions is unhelpful because a lot of loot is not going to make you feel any better or play any better. Furthermore, booing is not a classy way to show displeasure with your team - it buys into the mob mentality. Stop buying tickets! It's like constantly railing against tobacco companies while paying outrageous prices for cigarrettes (almost as deadly an addiction). I know a lot of loyal fans who refuse to buy tickets until they see the team headed in the right direction. Hell, I know some people who refuse to watch em even though it's free.

All I'm saying is chill on the trigger finger. I remember earlier this season Frye was starting to hear boos. What type of sht is that?

And I disagree about this being the first time this issue has come up. I used to talk about it back when Patrick was booed. Ridiculous. We drove him out of town and now we say that we love him. Will we learn from our mistakes?

Thats why the 90's teams were so great and everyone seems to remember all this booing taking place during the time period and Patrick in particular getting booed all the time but that VERY RARELY HAPPENED! The place almost exploded a few times during the Knicks great runs. The place was always sold out and the only people who got booed was Michael Jordan, Reggie Miller, and any opposing team. Sure you had some idiots on talk radio bitching about Ewing not doing this or not doing that but at the Garden Knicks game night a completely different story.

I'm sorry I initially misinterpreted your post.

What about when Allan Houston, Larry Johnson and Chris Childs all signed here? That also happens to be the last time the Knicks have been under the cap and able to sign any FA other than midlevel players. I just don't see how NY deters players from coming here because the last time the Knicks had money to spend, they had 3 major FAs sign here in the same offseason.

Well some players are different than others. Childs got offered what was considered an insane deal at the time for him. Larry Johnson did not have a choice in comming here. He was not a FA. The only exception among those 3 might be H20. I did not say NY deters all players from coming here. I said it is a reason many players choose not to come here. Havent you seen how many players use NY to drive up their price than sign elsewhere. Tim Duncan said he would never ever play in NY. Do you want players who only come here soley for more money? The only exception in the last 20 years I can remember is Brendon Shanahan. But look if you wnat to boo then boo. I couldnt care less at this point. some Ny fans are great and some NY are total ignorant idiots that have no clue because they were geeks who never played sports at a high level themselves.

Yeah because the booing fans are so tough themselves, lol.

Hey bob I couldnt even make my JV team but I'm a master at NBA 2007 so I'm an expert. Hey Joe thats great. I was picked last in every sport but my company can afford $1500 seats so I'm an expert now as well also.

With fans like some of these the team might as well play all their games on the road. Enjoy the next 33 years of booing with no championships

even as a poster i used to hear the same argument against my criticisms of isiah and steph; it was taking their joy away and making their message board experience unpleasurable, plus players read the boards and i was destroying their confidence.

ny fans are passionate and opinionated, so sue 'em. guys who like quite crowds always have atlanta, or they can take the LLE to get to SA where the fans cry when malik is traded.

the day we have and play the players who don't get derailed by such distractions will be the day we can be proud of this franchise again with the hope of being competitive on a nightly basis. until then...

fwiw, so far this year i've already heard boos in boston, chicago, detroit, denver, and one other locale of which i can't recall. this is not unique to ny sports.

btw, isn't it interesting that the nets, with Kidd and Thorn, are so much freer of the distraction of boos even though they serve the same obnoxious NY metro fan base?

Man you really think the guys in the expensive seats are the ones doing the booing? Its the guys seating in the nosebleeds who boo because they care. They actually paid for their seats, they could have gone to a much better show for less money. But the came to support their team. They are the guys who do all the cheering, and fck you man if you don't think they are guys who have the right to boo when they are getting ripped of by lazy players and an incompetent organization.

True, most of us have not been blessed with the athletic talent the guys who actually posses, but that does not mean we don't understand the game we follow. And it does not mean that we do not play hard when we play sports, JV, varsity, or just pickup ball.

The booing this season is well deserved. It is the result of the compounding ineptitude displayed by this once proud franchise over the past six years. People are booing because that is the only thing left for them to look forward to, we don't even have the rights to our pick this year.

The Knicks have not won a title in 33 years because the teams they have made were not good enough, Ewing never got enough firepower around him, and after him it has been a joke.

The fact that the Garden is still full of fans is a testament of how great the Knicks fans are. There is no reason for anybody to even be there, there are so many better things to do in NYC.

LOL 15000 fans on some nights in a city of 9 million is not something to brag about. I know cities under a a million that have more devoted fan bases. I'm not saying all garden fans or ny fans are bad. Some NY fans are great. Its only around 10% that make the majority look badly

And 15000 coming to what is going to be a crappy show 90% of the time is pretty damn good in a city with a billion better options.
