LOL, the post/threads do increase after loses............ I know everybody is beating down Curry from every angle and it's easy to do right now(prediction= next there will a "how dare curry shake Ewings hand" thread), but I believe he will come threw. IT's a 82 game season... time will tell.
But to the point of the thread, when is a player not compared to the greats???? Marbury and Francis could be like Walt and Pearl or Dumars and Isiah, are things Isiah and even Brown said. Balkman reminds Isiah of Rodman and Artest. Pepople do it all the time, Hell there is a thread in here that says does balkman look like Scottie Pippen!!!! Why???? Because Pippen is someone people remember because he is an great. THe thread didn't ask, " Does balkman look like SAR" LOL.
Walt and Francis were great players but they are not on the same level as guys like Willis and Ewing. In the Knicks hierarchy, Willis and Patrick are on the top and both personified the warrior mentality that exists in New York. I also think a big part is everything Ewing brought to this team and he never was able to give us a championship, through no real fault of his own. He was surrounded by what some loosely would consider a championship team for 3 years from 93 to 95. After that, the teams were good but never on championship level. Willis was surrounded by All-Time greats and won 2 championships here (69 and 72, right?).
Also Rodman and Artest will never be considered legends.
Please tell me that you didn't say Walt Frazier was NOT on the same level as Reed and Ewing. Walt belonged on any level as any great player that ever played the game. EVER!!!
Yes I did say it and I do mean it.
joe!!! brother!!! explain thyself. personally i have walt as 3rd team all-time guard behind only michael, oscar, magic and west. willis and patrick are considerably lower down on my center list.
Maybe I came across the wrong way. Walt is a great player, but I don't think he or anyone else signified the Knicks spirit like Willis and Patrick. I have never seen Walt play nor have I seen Willis play, but I have always felt there is a certain lore behind Willis and Patrick that guys like Walt, Earl, Bernard just didn't have to me. Patrick and Willis are considered the two greatest Knicks of all time. I have heard that over and over again.
It's like how Jeter is billed as one of the best Yankees of all time, but he isn't the best player in Yankees history. Imagine if the Yanks converted Cano to shortstop and then started billing him as the next Jeter. Or if they traded for a guy like Tejada and touted him as the next Jeter. Tejada is a better example of what I am saying because his motivation has been questioned and he isn't a proven winner anywhere, nor is he a strong personality or leader.
You think it's an insult to Jeter to compare Tejada to him? I do.
