I've said this again and again. We have the pure TALENT to win 50 games. Problem is the talent doesn't fit and the players are constantly getting a pass. And the best player we have talent wise-who has the ability to be one of the best at his position is so mentally weak he has to contnually have his ass wiped by his "best friend" all the while stating how great he is but never showing it.
See joe, thats the kinda stuff I agree with. The talent doesn't fit. Should have forced the trade for Jalen and Francis. Curry needs to be meaner! Thats stuff I'll talk about day and night, and I have a feeling I'll agree with you 95% of the times. But 'Isiah shouldn't say we'll be flat' or 'Isiah shouldn't say stuff to Greg Anthony' etc is really nitpicking. And you know what joe, I really like talking basketball with you. I like our trade scenarios etc so I just want to make it clear what side of the fence I am on.

Here is my point. Everyone is wired different. You say, "the guys should show more effort" will have a different effect on players. Same with "we could be flat tonight."

Hahaha! Joe, thats your interpretation. I really don't see it that way but let me ask you this, did you expect us to win tonight? I as a fan didn't and neither did any of the other Knick fans I know in person. We are hoping for a win but realistically we expect a loss against the Pacers. What Isiah says doesn't prepare me for ****! I hope you give the fans more credit. I think he just wants the crowd to being energy.

Silver mainly this makes our team sound like a bunch of pansies. Whatever he is saying behind closed doors. Fine, he can keep it there. I don't need to know. But to me saying stuff like this furthers the sterotype of us having weak minded players.

In all honest, this is the same problem Larry Brown had but the exact opposite. Larry aired all this negative, too hard on his players crap. Isiah is doing the exact opposite airing all this pat the but, hold their hand crap. I also don't see what Isiah as telling the media as positive because it is enforcing the one sterotype this team has-it has soft players. As a player I wouldn't want that type of stereotype to get around about me.

isles, marv, anybody that wants to go to a knicks game and sit in section 404 - let me know.

we should pick a game and try to get the entire row and just ball out at a game this year. $40 seats, midcourt. can't beat 'em.

i'll try to schedule something up.

guys, get used to it. Isiah isn't going to say anything negative about any of the players in the press. He's not going to call out anybody unless it's in an encouraging manner. I guarantee that he's not saying this stuff to them. But I'm sure he's promised everyone of them, that as much smack talk they'll get from the press, none of it is going to come from him.

As long as he can win, I don't care how he comes across.

Close. I almost agree with you man. I think one of the players will come and and leak something to the papers that Isiah is yelling at Nate for not passing etc. I want to know what happens behind closed doors. Difference is, I haven't completely lost hope in this team.

You never said anything about LB calling out his players in the media and neither did I. So why call out Isiah for not being critical? I strongly believe that people know how to deal with criticism. All this is fair but it still doesn't mean Isiah said we will lose. Thats what my basic argument has been the whole time.

I think what Isiah is really saying is we probably will be great tonight but there is a tiny chance we may stink. :)
I LOVED how Curry just exploded in the 4th, speaking as a fan of the Raptors, Curry looked well, scary I think is the word. Or Shaq-like Curry: 19.1ppg-7.3rpg-58%fg

I'll be down for that, once I get my voice back. Right about now, whether cheering, booing or just talking, I sound like that ghost chick from the Grudge.
Another season, and more adversity to persevere through. We will get the job done, even BETTER than last year. GO KNICKS!

SIlver, so far Isiah has flat out said that we "may" not be good this year. He has said that we didn't do anything wrong after blowing a 19 point lead(when you blow a 19 point lead to a team giving heavy minutes to 2 rookies and without it's star, you did something wrong). He has now said we may lose a game.

Silver, I am 25 yrs. old. I have been watching basketball and understanding and playing basketball for somewhere around 15 years(this is not a call out or anything just saying in all my years watching basketball)and I have NEVER hear a coach say we may lose a game.
Dude, you are really nitpicking here. I remember Van Gundy saying "we will lose becasue we cannot rebound" etc plenty of times. I'll look for the quotes later just to prove it to you cuase I know for sure you will not remember them. Isiah also said "we are going to be tired so we will need the crowds engery" not "we suck we are going to lose" etc so why dont you say something about that? Its obvious you dont like him but dont tell me he is a bad coach because you dont like what he says to the newspapers. What next, his shirt?

Find something real to call him out on and you will not see me argue with you. The last few times we locked horns was Isiah saying something to Greg Anthony an now Isiah saying something about us being tired. SugarRay said it best, he is managing expectation. Take it easy with this stuff. Isiah isnt saying we are going to lose tonite. He said we need the players energy. Really joe!

Yeah, IT is working the media. But instead of taking LB's approach to berate players, IT is trying to manage expecations and is letting the fans know that the team needs the fans to support them tonight. It seems like a smart move IMO. You really think Isiah is all hugs and kisses with the team behind closed doors. Did you watch this guy play? This guy was a pure killer on the basketball court and wants his players to play that way. I have no doubt that he is on these guys about the mistakes last night and in Memphis, he just is not going to let the media see it, which IMO is a good idea.

I think okay for Isiah to ciritique the players in public, so long as he does it in terms of "manliness". "What we need from our players is more manliness." Something like that would be consistent with prior public statements he's made.

Note, that is in contrast to "Our players are a bunch of pussies." Saying something like hat would be wrong.

Why does this group of players ALWAYS need a built-in excuse for absolutely EVERYTHING. It's freaking pathetic.

I heard Joe Torre make excuses for the Yankees the last 5 years. It doesn't seem specific to this group of players.

Hold up hold up hold up........ THe quote was taken out of context....

"We're going to need them," Thomas said of the fans. "It's a back-to-back game for us. We're going to need the building to be energetic for us. There's a possibility with everything's that's gone on, we (might) not have legs. I'm really concerned about being flat tomorrow night."

Thats the real context... Hes just asking the fans to help encourage the team... Not too bad

Jim Calhoun has a team of about 8 sophomores and freshman. After our exhitbition game he listed every mistake to the press that the team made. Why is it that freshman and sophomores in college can be called out in the press and ultimately be successful but grown men need someone to build confidence for them? We are becoming so soft in so many areas.
I just hope that people will like me

Joe Torre doesn't make excuses before games. Please, your going to compare the Knicks to the Yankees and Isiah Thomas to Joe Torre now?

Comparing excuses bro, nothing else. I called it nitpicking. Joe Torre makes excuses before games all the time. Makes excuses for A-Rod, makes excuses for Matsui and made excuses for Clemens. I'll find you quotes before the game about Joe saying Brown has come a long way but still might get knocked around etc. Will that really make a difference? We have all read them. I only used the Yankees because they have been the Paragon of excellence and even they use excuses before and after games. I don't need to compare the two TEAMS under different managers to show the fallacy in your generalization.

Good post elite. joec has been really nitpicking on stuff about this team lately and now the quote out of context! Whats the deal joe? Really? I've been saying it all over this thread. All Isiah said is he wants the crowd to root hard so the players can feed off the energy. Good job pointing it out Elite.
