He ended up overpaying for a draft pick. Then again we don't know if Brown was begging for Rose or not. So that move was a poor move.

But I don't believe waiving him is a poor move. Other than an enigma with a long contract. Or a contract with 2-3yrs left with close to the same amount and a mid draft pick. The state of the Knicks around the league is we are a laughing stock. Nobody is going to give us value back. Why would they give us a J'Oneal or KG when they can stay away from us and keep us in the gutter. But if they do want to give us those players they are going to want EVERY asset we have and keep us in the gutter. I don't truley see us getting anything back at the deadline worthwhile. Especially at 16.9mill. We had a better shot at value with Taylor's 9 mil than Rose's 16.9.

The only contract we should be focusing on actually trading is Francis. I can't name Marbury since there is no way any GM takes his contract or James contract. We should be working a Francis for Eddie Jones trade until the deadline. Give Francis his mins, talk about how great he has been, how much he has matured, yada, yada, yada. Hopefully win some games. And then make a deal with his value high.

Im thinking Isiah wanted to get rid of any players that he has the option to get rid of that might be a distraction throughout his season.

while i completely agree w/everything you just said (i much prefer buying Jalen out than taking on another horrible contract player like Zach Randolph or C-Webb), it's just the complete lack of planning behind any of the moves being made over the past few years that gets me so frustrated... i'm glad that Dolan is finally putting his foot down on the irresponsible spending at least... better late than never.

i like the idea of angling for a Francis for Eddie Jones trade... if Isiah were to pull that one off, i'd actually start to see a light at the end of this tunnel this franchise is in... like u said, Marbury's not going anywhere whether we like it or not, so we need to start thinking of other ways to achieve some sort of cap flexibility in the coming years.

Absolutely insane. Really speaks volumes on reckless contracting with NBA players. Why does Dolan and company feel the need to pay a guy 15 to 20 mil, five year contracts (example figure) to play here, and the fans and everyone else knowing that they will fail?

I'll say it again, We need to sign players to no more than two or three year contracts, to have a chance to get rid of the losers sooner and open up some money for when the big free agents come along, that is unless of course we have a few stars already. The math is so simple and just mind boggling that no one figures this out. It's a 'wait for the right time' game and it's the ony game the Knicks don't know how to play.

I thought that Sacramento just had to pay vet league minimum to Taylor and the Knicks pay the rest.

Guys before we get wrapped up into all this...The Garden is a huge establishment..I'm sure these are being written off as losses at tax time...He is throwing huge sums of money away that would have probably gone to Uncle Sam anyway...It's like the Yankees building their own stadium without any city help...Their income is so massive that their tax liabilities are covered in the business expenses and losses...Is Dolan really the fool you think he is??..I'll say no...I'm no accountant but I'll bet this is the case...

The Yankees get luxury tax benefits building a stadium, and are probably much more of a cash cow.

So it's okay that he goes out and acquires all the wrong talent? It's okay for the Knicks to be in salary cap hell because he has a can just write off the bad moves? No it not okay and it's time that a GM is brought in here that won't make stupid signings that put this team in further salary cap trouble. Say all you want about Isiah waiving Jalen, MoT and whoever else. He's the one that brought them here and put himself in the situation that he's in now. There are no if's and's or but's about it.

You are right Holfresh but does that give Isiah a license to screw it up as well?

Well, now that you cleared that up, what's the commotion all about -- we've been managed to perfection

Let me give you one example of what we have been paying. When we bought out Larry, it came to a grand total of $80 million dollars that we still owed him. A contract is a contract, and mis-management is a mis-management. Remember, when he was signed before he came to us, it was a mind boggling 12 year contract, and we ended up picking up the rest, bad back and all. This is one reason I have been complaining about these contracts for the last several years. Paying all of this money is one thing, but the return? There is no' return for it, which makes it a major fiscally mis-managed team.

What does it mean? It means we lost out on shots at (possibly) getting guys like Duncan, Kobe, LeBron, Chris Webber, as well as number of other star names. George Stienbrenner is a smart man. When he spends big, he gets something big. When Dolan spends, he ends up paying through the nose for years and years, with no return. That's what this whole thing is all about. You can talk about insurance and releases, but what's the return? It's zero, with our hopes hanging in the balance of guys like Frye, Nate, Lee, Curry, Craw, leader, Francis and the few other no names at this time. I really don't like our chances at this time, but we ain't got nothing else to look foreward to.
I'll never trust this' team again.
