As far as this thread goes -- what's your plan?

I don't really know yet, but here is something I have been hoping for that I have posted a couple of times:

It is my understanding that Ray Allen is on the outs with Seattle. If Francis is featured and can play more games like he did the other night, that open the door for a Franchise for Allen trade, with the Knicks probably having to throw in some more value (JC?).

I think Ray Allen would fit in perfectly with the uptempo style and would give a us a bonafide sniper--better from long range than Houston was--an athlete, and a decent character. Allen had his best season last year and I think he has at least 3 high-level seasons left.

My other plan is this: Make Eddie Curry get all of his points off of rebounds and cutting to the basket. It may take some time but it will eliminate his game-stopping while he figures out what to do and cut his turnovers down too while featuring his ability to overwhelm and dunk on anyone around the basket.

EDIT: It will also help eliminate some of his god-forsaken bolwing people over and getting offensive fouls.

My third plan is this: Feature Frye in the front court. The kid can flat out score and I think he will make things happen--as opposed to EC stagnation possessions.

Ray Allen would be an upgrade to our SG position, but his contract would still be on the books during the Summer of '09. This is officially the Summer I am looking forward to now. Barring anything ridiculous, it looks like we can realistically be primed to at least make solid competitive offers to both Wade and LeBron.

I don't want to pretend like it's a sure thing they'll sign, but at least we can make an offer instead of dreaming they'll sign for the MLE. One dangerous aspect to the Summer of '09 is -- if we don't sign a major free agent, we are probably not going to have another shot. We will have to renew Frye, Nate and Lee. Chances are that will put us above the cap or close to it. Hopefully, in the unfortunate event that we strike out on the big FA's, we don't make a desperation signing and pick up a B-Level FA for A-Level money.

What we need is a top young player to build the Knicks around. We don't have one and we don't have the tradeable assets to get one from the teams that do.

We have been so bad that we should have had the lottery picks to do so, but instead we traded for a guy who still isn't our top building block.

My first move would be to fire Isiah, who is one of the worst gms in sports history, he does not have a plan and doesn't know how to trade, sign or execute.

He is an ******* with limited knowledge and somehow continues to get a pass, stop by short sighted the cap situation wasn't as bad as it seemed when he took the helm, Layden was a horrible gm but at least he had players that would play hard.

All you need to know that Isiah has now cost this franchise close to 100 million dollars without question, season tickets drop, national attention is non existant and everyone love dumping on the knicks because of him.

If we are talking dollars and cents.

He essential paid 22 million dollars to draft Balkman
He paid 28 million to draft David Lee and Marty Collins
He gave a career loser that can't play defense a six year deal that runs through 10/11
He brought in a carbon copy of a pg that doesn't win and can't win.

Zeke is a loser, and he has brought in losers, a plan is drafting players and brining in players that are mentally tough and strong, which is something that is critical when they come to this market. He is not qualified to do what he is doing, coaching he may be alright but as far as creating a team there are 100 guys in the street that can do a better job than he has done.

Great article by Bill Simmons this week in ESPN, GM's always overthink and make the wrong decisions, while the average fan can just tell you what the team needs and more often than not its the right move

Wow, that was an awesome post. You summed it all up into one short but sweet post. Awesome MS!

What plan did Isiah steal from anyone to date?

oohah

I remember that he pretty much lifted the Marbury trade stright from Scott Layden's notebook.

That is if you are of the opinion that he wouldn't have wanted Marbury anyway. In any case Layden had plenty of time to pull the trigger on Marbury.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

the plan should be: play Frye and Curry as much as possible and it they can't play together, trade one of them as soon as possible for a young defensive PF/C. going by what I've seen this pre-season, I'd say Frye is a bigger defensive seive than Eddy right now, so he may have to be the one to go.
