Yo killah how is the knee? I know the pain was bananas and to throw un the baby too? I know your lady must have been pissed in those early days.

Anyway, its gonna be fun. Lots of fides are saying they are coming out.

Last year when one of you guys posted pics my girl at the time just thought I was the geekiest of the geeks. My son thought I was nuts. Then as I pointed you guys out in the pic my girl was like "so did you get their real names?" we had a good laugh on that.

Honestly, the pain was short lived, only the first 3 or 4 days after surgery, and after that the pain was minimal. Physical therapy helped a whole whole lot, but its getting hard now because it is essentially weight training for my whole leg, not a bunch of cute little stretches anymore. But I'm doing good, x-rays show that I'm all healed up and the doc called me one of his star patients and said I didn't need to see him anymore.

I've still got a ways to go before I am 100%, but I am very please with my progress, and at least I can walk like a regular person.

It was just rough on the days I had to watch my baby, because I couldn't get up and hold her at the same time. Or when i still had the brace on my knee it was crazy trying to travel from one room to the next with her. But i am thankful there was not much pain throughout.

PT is a bitch once you get out of the initial couple of weeks. In the beginning it's like: Ultrasound and massages, PT isn't so hard!

Then you have to do those damn side leg raises...

I want to give you one piece of advice. Don't be too aggressive in your progression. Whatever the Orthopaedist tells you, double or triple it because it is really easy to hurt yourself again and strength is the biggest factor.

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Aren't you telling me 2 contradictory things? Don't be too aggressive but do three times as many exercises that the dr. tells me too? Huh?

Apparently you are a graduate of the Larry Brown school of advice. LOL!!

I think he meant... double or triple your readiness by making yourself stronger first and then come back to sports. lol

Bite your tongue! I meant take 2-3 times as long. He says a year, it'll probably take 2. It's all about strength. I'm sorry to give you that sort of bad news, but here is no percentage in rushing back as we are not pro athletes.

Best of luck dude.

Whatever the doctor says tell him/her to kiss your ass. Doctors don't care about you. After PT you kinda know what's going on with your knee. Go with how you feel. Like ooh ah says, we are not pro atheletes so baby yourself. Not too much but if something hurts shut it down. Work gradually. It definately is gonna take a few years to get back to playing ball. Don't come back too soon. Get that strength by going to the gym on your own. Use that as an opportunity to get into real shape.

I'm still rehabing my damn knee! It still hurts when I run and I hurt myself about 2 years ago. I just started to really feel my muscles clench and actually work again. I'm squating with free weights now for the last 2 months or so. That is a major achievement.

Well we can talk more about that stuff Friday!

damn man. I feel like I am progressing well, I have no pain at all, i know its just strength training for me. 2 years?!?!?! We'll see about that. Not that I wanna play ball, I just wanna be athletic. I need to take this strength training serious.

Killa, just wait till the first time you have to run for the bus or do any kind of activity that is demanding in terms of cutting or exploding. You'll see how much your leg has changed. Walking around is one thing, Athletic activity demands somehting totally different from you. You could be totally healed, but it takes time for everything to come back together after that. If anything, you need to be much stronger and in better condition than you were.

I am not trying to bring you down, but to give you a window to what guys like me, Eny, and Martin have experienced. I was the cat who played ball everyday as a kid, and 2-3 times a week as a younger adult before my knee went. (I always had knee pain though)

I feel good enough now to chase my cat around the house.

Taking your PT seriously is the best thing you can do.
