marv going nutty with the new YouTube funcationality. Nice.

Who said old people couldnt get a grip on technology.

dude, don't think for a second that Marv hasn't contemplated selecting a whole bunch of files in Windows Explorer, right-clicking and choosing Copy and thinks he can unplug the mouse and move it to another computer and right-click again and select Paste to move the files to the new computer.

LOL! It's funny but believe me, people think they can do that. Thats hilarious Martin, I still don't think Marv would have figured out how to use all this stuff if it didn't get him any visuals of Jessica Alba on the Alba thread. JK Marv!

telfair to green:

Can't tell who that is throwing the ally oop, but it'd be difficult for Telfair to do it since he was traded to Boston this summer...
Sorry, just got up in a nitpicking sort of mood. Carry on.

summer league, my man. summer league.

I'll give ya the second one, but first one is an actual game vs. Raptors (Pierce is even there with the towel on his head).
(I'm done nitpickin, just wanted to point out I'm not ENTIRELY out of my mind)

"He was drafed as a 22 yr old, while Perkins and Jefferson were drafted at 18."
not to say that the celtics are'nt better than us, but they were all 22 last year and avg'd about the same amount of rebs, and frye avg'd much more in points than both. (as a rookie ofcourse)

Perkins was drafted 3 years ago and will be 22 on Nov 10-http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kendrick_perkins/index.html.
Jefferson was drafted 2 years ago and was 21 on Jan 4-http://www.nba.com/playerfile/al_jefferson/index.html

Frye was drafted last year and was 23 on May 17th (during the season)http://www.nba.com/playerfile/channing_frye/index.html

Frye-May 17, 1983
Jeff-Jan 4, 1985
Perk-Nov 10, 1984

Frye came out after 4 years of college and was basically a ready made big man, Perk and Jefferson came out after high school.
so 2 and 3 yrs in the nba qualifies as what? needing more time? frye was a "rookie" and outplayed both nba "vetarans".

There is a HUGE difference between 20 and 23 in the NBA. As I pointed out, Frye came in as a 4 yr. college, ready made player. Perkins and Jefferson are projects.
Here are a few examples-

Kobe at 20-19.9 points, 5 rebounds 4 assists
Kobe at 23-25 pts. 5.5 rbs, 5.5 assists
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kobe_bryant/

JO at 20- 2.5 pts, 2.7 rbs, .39 blks.
JO at 23- 19 pts, 10.5 rbs, 2.3 blks.
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/jermaine_oneal/index.html

TMac at 20- 15.4 pts, 6 rbs, 3 ast
TMac at 23- 32 pts, 6.5 rbs, 5.5 asts.
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/tracy_mcgrady/index.html

KG at 20- 17 pts, 8 rbs, 3 assists, 2 blks, 1.4 stls.
KG at 23- 23 pts, 12 rbs, 5 assists, 1.5 blks, 1.5 stls.
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/kevin_garnett/index.html

Rashard Lewis at 20- 8 pts, 4 rebs, 1 assist
Rashard Lewis at 23-18 pts, 6.5 rebs, 2 assists.
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/rashard_lewis/index.html

Eddy Curry at 20-10.5 pts, 4.4 rebs, .8 blks.
Eddy Curry at 23-13.6 pts, 6 rebs, .8 blks
-Keep in mind his best season came at age 22 with 16 pts, 5 rebs, .9 blks.
http://www.nba.com/playerfile/eddy_curry/index.html

3 years is an eternity in basketball especially when talking about kids drafted at 19.

OK so with all of that cleared up, the point remains that Curry and Frye are currently better overall players than Jefferson and Perkins. Admittedly they are a bit ahead of the two young Celts, but until they step up all they have is potential to be as good or maybe even better than our two young Knick bigs. My personal opinion is that Frye and Curry will continue to be ahead of them for a little while longer, as I anticipate much bigger production from Curry/Frye this year.

They are not better overall players. They are better scorers. That's it. Even combined, I think Jefferson and Perkins form a much better combo because they are both so well suited to play with each other. Jefferson and Perkins are both better defensively, and better rebounders.

Jefferson averages 21, 13.5, 2 blks per 48 minutes(at 21).http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/splits?statsId=3832&avg=48
Perkins averages 12 pts, 14.5 rbs, 3.78 blks per 48(at 22).http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/splits?statsId=3730&avg=48

Curry gets 25, 11 rebs, 1.44 blks per 48(at 23).http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/splits?statsId=3514&avg=48
Frye averages 24 pts, 11.1 rebs, 1.44 blks per 48(at 23).http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/splits?statsId=3934&avg=48

Curry and Frye are better scorers. Noone is denying that. Jefferson and Pedrkins are better all around players. Perkins is a horrible scorer but a great defender(Actually if you put either Jefferson or Perkins next to Frye or Curry that would probably be a great duo because they would compliment each other so well).

AS a whole I would rather have the Jefferson/Perkins tandem. Look at the numbers, Frye and Curry are basically exactly the same production wise, they only do it in different ways (Curry inside, Frye outside). If I had to choose right now who I would take, I would take Jefferson and Perkins because they just bring alot more to the table-especially skills that are stereotypical to the power positions of PF and C-than Frye and Curry.

Wow!!!! I thought I was the only one who picked up that. I almost fell out my chair when I read somebody say they would give Green the edge over Frye and they would rather have Perkins/Jefferson over Curry/Frye.......... I damn, "Dog Pooh on stick not in a knick jersey >>>>> every Knick". LMAO

The season really needs to start.

Once again....Perkins and Jefferson compliment each other 100 times better than Frye and Curry. The fact that Curry's work ethic needs work is also a major concern to me. I still think Curry does have the most ptoential out of all 4 guys but he needs to get off his arse and do it instead of just showing glimpses. If Curry can improve his rebounding and defense around the basket, I will definately give the nod to him and Frye over Perkins and Jefferson because then our starting frontcourt wouldn't be so one dimensional.
