hey, you know what's weird - Coach K is using Lebron, Wade and Melo in international competition and the US is blowing out Puerto Rico. I bet Brown wishes he had those players in 2004. oh, wait, he did.

Yeah{sarcasm}. And yet another team that Stephon left and it has improved in his abscence{no sarcasm}.

Oooh... LOL. You beat me to it.
Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

i still say the Knicks need to fire Don Chaney & hire someone reputable & has some clout in this league... someone like a Lenny Wilkens.

Lenny is senile, it's time for him to go. Anybody is better than him. I would take Donald Duck

Lets rephrase the question

How many defenders, not even good defender did brown have last year: Q

How many players came into camp out of shape: James, Curry, Mo Taylor

How many big man couldn't rebound: James, Curry, Taylor

How many shoot first players were on the squad: Marbury, Crawford, Francis, Nate

How many players don't give a **** about defense: Marbury, Crawford, Francis, Mo, Curry

So would you want to coach a bunch of players that don't care: NO

You guys can argue all you want but the bottom line is this. We hired the worst coach in the NBA last year. All his accomplishments were a result of luck. Now he is gone. Now everything is fine.

We did hire the worst coach in the NBA last year, but I do think he does have a legacy of being a great coach but he didn't bring it with him to NY.

I found this, questions poised to Brown right after he accepted the Knick job.

What’s the hardest part about coaching today’s game?
Getting players to understand the difference between coaching and criticism. You know, I don’t think it’s only players now. I think it’s a societal problem. But I think you have to develop a trust where they know that when you say something to them, you’re trying to make them better, and you’re not trying to be critical of the things they do. If I came home and ever complained about the way my coach treated me, my uncles (Brown’s father passed away when he was six) would have me against the wall and tell me, ‘the reason he’s on you is because he cares about you. And what he says, you do.’ Now, I don’t know if kids have the support that we had. If you got out of line in your community or village, there were people there to keep you in place, or to tell your mom and dad that you were messing up. That’s not happening now. Your high school coach and teachers used to be the most influential people, now you got AAU coaches and street agents and people like that. Kids have different things that I think sometimes get in the way.

New York Knicks general manager Isaiah Thomas says that, when he was younger, he started putting white handkerchiefs in his suit jackets to imitate you. Are Knicks going to be walking around New York with white hankies?
I don’t know. It depends if they have a runny nose.

While recruiting you, the Knicks sent you a tape with the cast of The Sopranos asking you to come coach the Knicks. If you lose, think you’ll have to join the witness protection program?
One of the remarks on the tape is that I move more than the witness protection program. One of the Sopranos actually said that. I don’t think about winning or losing. I’m just concerned about doing a great job.

You're focussing too much on LB Bip. Every one of your posts is about him now.

I have such a hard time understanding why we can't focus on fixing what is wrong with the Knicks. Every offseason it's the same topics we discuss just different names. Five years and everyone keeps searching for the ONE PERSON to blame. It's surreal.

Well my eyes have been opened. We finally got the guy. And now everything in NY is great.

Really? Better men? How so? So if your boss never confronts you directly but snipes at you behind your back and berates you over the PA, you're gonna be happy and say 'he's making me a better man'?

I would love to play for Larry Brown. I would send my kids to a camp coached Larry, Parcells, Bobby Knight, Coach K any day of the week. I'm sorry that the Knicks players are so fragile and couldn't handle Brown but these coaches make you better at your sport and they make you better men.

I think it's all those things you mentioned that led to 23 wins instead of 45.

The geezer is now nothing buy a complainer and a snake. He is not loyal and he has no respect for his players on any level. He probably was always like that but it came out more after he left Philly.

doesn't this directly contradict what the players in Philly and Detroit were saying about Brown?

Brown & team had a bad year in NY and things didn't mesh. Did Brown agitate things? Sure. Did some of the players? Sure.

Could we not say the same things about some of the players on the NY Knicks as you have with Brown?

It doesn't contradict what the 04 Olympic team was sayng about him however...

the whole team or just some of the players? LB is old school and maybe teams and guys that understand it and grit it out will come through OK. Weaker or under-matured personalities are not so good with this type of coach, and that's understandable.

How about this scenario? If the Knicks won 45 last year with the same yelling, lineup switching, mean spirited, to-the-press blabbing coach, would we all say the same things? Is it the personality we are talking about or the 23 wins everyone is upset with?

NOt sure he really did. He always improves at the end of the season and he really seemed to regress in the begining-2/3 of the season from the previous season. It's gonna be between nate and him for SG.

Jamal Crawford was very hard-working and had nothing but good things to say about Brown. Funny how Crawford got better last year too.

Couldn't play for the man. Unless I had to since his team drafted me. College? Not going there if he recruited me. He wants to be the show. Would have to deal with it in the pros, not in college.

My signature says it all I think.

Personally I work for an agency that thinks the workers don't do anything and I have to deal with people hiding behind walls for me to run my eyes so they can suspend me for not wearing saftey glasses. I work for a company that had a 600 plus million dollar surplus that refused to give any of that to its workers. Then the come around just a few months later reporting a 200 million dollar surplus. But still want to raise the train fair. I work for a company that will suspend you 30 days over a customer complaint no questions asked, try if you get hurt or assaulted on the job they put you through the bs and will get a little to no compensation to show for it.

I still have to go to work and do my best and give them my heart and soul. Is this job making me a real man? Or a better man? Do I want to work for them because the abuse is actually good for me? Nope I do it cuz I'm broke and I need the money.

These NBA teams are not real world stuff. No one can say brown was trying to make these guys better men. That is the dumbest thing I ever heard. Most of These guys are already fathers and are grown people.

Brown did a terrible job of working with what he had. That's it. The players have up on him. Yes they can do that and they have every right. Coaches get Fired all the time even when they win. These mofos are all rich. Brown can care less cuz the dude is already rich even before the knicks 50 mill deal.

You guys like to talk all the mumbo jumbo. These guys are rich. American kings and queens. Aside from that no coach or supervisor for that matter is gonna have much of an effect on the development of a person other that on job stuff, unless there is a personal relationship going on. That is usually a rare occurance.

Talk about the game and get a grip on reality. Larry brown is gone and good ridence!

My last post is refering to professional players.

I just want to chat about the game. Brown would have started me on cinco de Mayo if I was on the team due to my Latino heritage!

I dunno talking about all this stuff feels like I'm posting on an oxygen network forum.

If brown was my coach I would have sprewelled his arse! I would have taken the suspention or lifetime ban and played summer ball the rest of my life for free. These mofos are rich!

On a personal note, you do realize the international game s totally different than the NBA game, right?
http://www.usabasketball.com/rules/rules.html

Perhaps, just maybe, they had a hard time adjusing in the week they needed to before playing. I mean if hard working, vets like Duncan, Iverson, Marion, etc., couldn't grasp the what makes you think it was so easy for rookies to do it?

At the time the ONLY player who would have fit the international stage well was Lebron. Wade was a piss-poor outside shooter (the international game stresses outside shooting), Carmelo was a one dimensional scorer, international play also stresses passing. Amare-a BEAST down low in the NBA-was a pure power post player in a tournament that stressed running in transition-which he can do with Nash running the point. With Steph and Iverson, that may present a problem- and a more perimeter based game.
