the pitchers that were available aren't worth their asking price... a guy like Zito would take trading away your top blue chip prospect... why pay that high a price when the guy's a FA at the end of the season? an acquisition like Cory Lidle is a very smart move on the part of Cashman, because you just need someone to eat up innings in the #5 spot in the rotation... w/Wang & Moose established as our aces at the top of the rotation, we are in good shape... Unit is the 1 guy that concerns me in this rotation, but we have no better options available to us, so we just have to hope he can give us some solid starts going down the stretch & in the postseason.

in the offseason, we have many options open to us via free agency... you can target a topflight guy like Jason Schmidt, or go for a solid #3/#4 type guy like Gil Meche or Ted Lilly... or if u want to bring Rocket or Andy Pettitte back, you can consider those options as well... or just wait til Phil Hughes gets called up & make due w/Moose, Wang, Unit, Wright & Pavano next season.
