Can someone tell Gus that "talented" is not the best way to describe Balkman?

David Lee looks like he's in very good shape.. It's only summer league guys, but he seems really vocal also.

just gotta bulk up so he can hang with the big boys

I wonder how he could play with added weight- similar to an Anthony Mason role maybe? Good rebounder, handle, inside scoring ability with more overall athleticsm. I would be more then happy if he wound up like that.. And he seems to be working on the jumper, which would be a huge plus.

IDK if he can ever be as physical as Mase was. His post up game was just brutal both to defend and to watch. I don't see Lee being that physical.

Dead on Joe..

Mase could not score outside of 8 feet LOL, I was thinking more in terms of overall game (bounding, handle, finishing ability among taller players).

Similar demeanor- not affraid to mix it up. If David puts on weight (as some have suggested) could he be even more Mase-like? Probably not, but I do see similarities that bring back some pretty good memories. :)

If we are talking just in terms of versatility with no nod to "style", I agree. I actually think that Lee can be more versatile on the offensive end (his jumper extends to 20, he is also capable of driving with his good handle, and posting up on occasion) while Mase was much more limited offensively but was able to guard all 5 positions on the court-something I don't know if Lee will ever be able to do...The do also have the same mix it up attitude, but I think Mase was MUCH more of an agitator while Lee just plays.

In a Jack-of-all-tades-master-of-none sense, yes, though, I can see where you compare him to Mase.

Mase was a beast in the post. his moves were incredible. much like LJ. Lee is not wide enough.

Fair comparison, at least for a couple of white guys

Googs is a pretty good Comparison. I think Harpring is another one. I almost want to say Scottie Pippen, too, to a degree.

Mardy has only gotten better as summerleague progresses, which is what I thought would happen. There is a HUGE learning curve when you come into the league as PG.

If Balkman can develop a short jump shot, it would really make his quick first step to the hoop even more effective.
