MAgic was a horrible broadcaster (which is why he didn't last, because everyone loves him) and he was even worse as the host of a show (The Magic Hour). I am glad I'm not the only one who remembers this. Magic has said things far worse than Marbury has ever said, grammar wise.

"All the big mens with the strong bodies"

As a black man (or adolescent), I was horrified that someone thought it was a good idea to have him on TV. It was a reflection on all of us, imo (if you don't get it don't worry about it).

Magic has made huge leaps and bounds, and still leaves a little to be desired, although he is passable right now.

I love how everyone wants to bring up championships, etc. I was talking about speech.

I'm not sure I was on the same side as anyone, but the point I was trying to make was similar to Killa's and I was adding on that it is possible to get better with effort. Look at John Starks...he may have been one of the worst ever: "No doubt Al..." and he has gotten better though I don't think he will ever be good enough to be a regular game broadcaster.

It's tough because if you did not grow up with proper use of the language being drilled into you, it probably means that you have had improper use of the language drilled into you.

I don't wanna hear no wack English in my game broadcasts.

Hey Sparticus, that comment wasn't directed at Oohah, it was directed at those who brought up Magic's championships in a discussion about the corelation between speech and inteligence.

The fact that we are arguing his intelligence is comical.
Ok, so I take it you think there is direct corelation between Grammer/syntax and inteligence. You are actually wrong about that, but that of course doesn't mean you are necasarily wrong about Marbury's level of inteligence. Whether Marb's is dumb or not wasn't my point, I thought it would be interesting to highlight something that is commonly, and erroneously used to gauge others' inteligence. No one seems to want to concede the point (because there really is no debate). Maybe I should try that discussion on a different forum.
(Sorry Killa. This ain't directed at you personally. I know you're the premier social scientist of this day and age.

Yeah, I don't wanna too accuse anybody of being racist......... but I think white people could understand how hard it could be for some black people to talk in public and using the right words. I listen to Marbs and I think he wants to speak in slang. Not on this tape, but he slipped up at times when he called Ariza a killer on low..... stuff like that.

But yeah, Bong/Bong, we make love to pressure, talking threw the airwaves. You know I understood what he said when he said we have talked threw airwaves but we haven't talked to each other..... but I'm used to stuff like that, so it didn't bother me.
