Balkman is 6-6 205 when he gets into the BL where guys weigh 30-100 pounds more than him, he will be exposed. the average nba player is 6-7 220 hes a very small SF

But you don't think that Marcus Williams' slow foot speed, atrocious defense, and poor shooting will be exposed?

Balkman is much more of an NBA body than Williams. Williams is a big PG and that is where his physical talent runs out compared to 99% of other guards.

Did you notice their vision, oportunism and smarts?

I'm not going to judge that on a few clips, but I'm also not going to act like I know more about scouting than Thomas and Suhr who have a pretty impressive record. I'm not unhappy with the draft. I'd like to see some of the cancers removed from the squad now. I really hope keeping Francis is not the plan.
The clips confirmed a bunch that had been noted about them elsewhere.

ever see david noel play--i dont mean a few clips but actually watch GAMES? Ive watched both players and there is NO doubt in my mind that Noel is a BETTER scrap type player than this guy better at every faet with a real NBA body and MUCH MUCH MUCH more athletic with better skills
I watch an insane amount of college hoops and I've seen tons of Noel. If Noel was a BETTER anything than Balkman, maybe he would have been drafted somewhere even remotely close to him. He wasn't.

I watched every one of Marcus Williams games at Uconn. there is no question in my mind, he was their best player. he took over the last 10 games of the year avg nearly 20-10-4 when the other guys couldnt tie their shoes. you watch a snippet of one game and give an opinion? this guys basketball IQ is off the charts unreal---he dominated games late this year he was at some points a top 3 player in CBB. he made hilton and josh first round picks.

Briggs, try to bring some rationality into your arguments. You are making up how often I watched Williams play in order to support the ridiculous theory that Williams is better than Gay, Armstrong, Boone, or that other kid that is coming along with off the charts ability? (I forgot his name.)

Williams has exactly one facet to his game, passing. He is a nice college player, and maybe a reserve in the NBA. And don't give me that tired comparison to Mark Jackson, he can't hold Mark Jackson's Bishop Louhglin jockstrap.

Now please take a breath and tell me why his atrocious defense and poor shooting won't be exposed.

they guy shot 40% from 3 and near 90% from the FT line. He averaged nearly 20-10-4 during the last 10 games of the season. He had a triple double at HALFTIME against ND. hes not a bad defensive player at all thats malarchy heisnt gary payton but he can hold his own. he is a solid rebounder for a guard ignites fast breaks hits his open shots is a weapon at the FL. his efg is very high--the only reason his FG is 41 was overextension due to other players bumbling plays and forcing marcus to take many bailouts

Gimme a break. He had so many good offensive players that he had very good looks on 3's. Who do you leave alone: Armstrong or Boone 2 feet from the basket? Rudy Gay? No, you know who's man helps out.

40% from 3 is nice (2.5 attempts per game) but then you notice that he is the same percentage from 2. And by the way40% from the college 3 is 40% from the NBA 2. And we haven't even accounted for the much increased pressure he will be seeing.

Williams = Rick Brunson, but time will tell for sure.

when you say rick brunson, i have to laugh you have no clue. im sure your opinion is better than Rod Thorn who called him a top 5 player in the draft tonight--th same guy who drafted MJ

Well, briggs was right about Guillermo Diaz being a lottery type talent, so I guess we should listen to him rant and rave about Balkman too.

PS I do not think it is possible that briggs' uconn fandom or general emotional stability is biasing his judgments in any way. So, in conclusion, briggs is right. Let's all get out on the ledge, shall we?

And when you're wrong, I'm sure you will own up to it just like our Antoine Walker disagreement.

Because Thorn took MJ that means that anything he does can't be questioned?

Everyone but Portland would have taken Jordan.

well he also stole richard jefferson for eddie griffin. although drafting Wright last year was dumb
and traded for Kidd and Carter

Yeah because Marcus WIlliams is this can't miss talent but 21 team passed up on him.

Is that why you can't take me too seriously?

Or was it because I was so far off about Antoine Walker being a winning player, and I didn't predict that Steve Francis would end up here 4 months before the fact or that Lb would get canned and Isiah would take his place a month before the rumors even started, and I didn't break down how LB was f**king up at game 29 and now my posts are being echoed by Knicks management and sportswriters all over.

But Isiah made a better offer and was rebuffed by Toronto, so skill had nothing to do with the Carter trade.

Do I wish Thorn was our GM? Of course, but there were obviously red flags about Williams.

So did Ben Wallace and Brad MIller. I am not sure I understand your point.

Look at their games and you will see that Brunson and Williams are very similar. Slow, not very good shooting or defense playing players, but good floor generals considering they will usually be the least talented player on the court.

But I guess I see what you are saying, Rick Brunson is a proven NBA player and Williams is not so there really is no comparison.

It's does not matter where a player is selected

it's only whether that player can play or not

besides

Al Harrington just got more expendable in Atlanta as they selected two more forwards

strangely, I'm just getting sound and no picture.

Yeah, it was just audio for me too.

btw, Isiah knew that picking Williams would have bought him goodwill with the fans at a time when his popularity is low. He had a conviction, and stuck with it.

let's face it guys... Stephon Marbury's his boy... he's not going to take Marcus Williams & have the city be on Marbury's ass all season long wanting to run him out of town... he's going to rise or fall w/Marbury for better or worse, it's clear... nobody's going to be screaming for Mardy Collins to be starting games anytime soon... Isiah chose to go w/the need position & address our need for a defender/hustle player on the wing... i can't kill him for that, unless Balkman turns out to be a big bust... if he turns out to be a better version of JYD, i think i'm gonna like the kid alot.
After 7 years & 40K+ posts, banned by martin for calling Nalod a 'moron'. Awesome.
