so we hear trade rumors for marbury. they trade for francis. the coaching situation is all up in the air. lb and steph were the only two talking all year and both job security is unsure.

so now he gives a sit down to marc berman telling him "i want to die a knick". what was the point of that, especially the timing of it? if lb is gone, steph can do his PR during the summer, but why do it during one of the craziest times in knicksland? and now, he's signing autographs "i want to die a knick"?

it just doesn't make sense to just make these blanket statements, especially if there is some sort of gag order on the team.

so IN MY HUMBLE OPINION, i think he sounds desperate and is making a public plea not to get traded. if he was getting assurances behind the scenes, he has ZERO reason to do this right now. maybe after lb is gone but not now.

if lb had assurances, he wouldn't be saying anything either. but he doesn't. so he's pulling over at the side of the road.

i never said he didn't mean what he was saying nor did i say he's trying to trick people. all i said is that he sounds desperate.

here's consistency: dj back in november 2k5: "this team is better off without steph". dj in june 2k6: "this team is better off without steph."

ditto. Steph said similar things before he was traded, after he got here, and now. He loves NY and wants to be a Knick, no different than if we were profeesional ball players. But leave it to DJ to concoct some bizarre theory that fits what he wants to be reality. It can't be that Steph really means what he is saying, its gotta be some elaborate move to trick people and hide his true intentions.

1 thing that seperates the LB-lovers from the rest of us is: the LB lovers reject anything that that doesnt fit their version of reality. Direct quotes from LB, direct quotes from Steph, none of those quotes matter unless they are negative towards Steph. A player who is bankrupt in credibility (Tim "Fugazy" Thomas) makes a negative remark about Steph and it ends up as someones signature. these guys are about as consistant as Jamal "I step up when it doesn't count" Crawford. get outta here!!

Ain't it the truth......

Seriously though, you make it sound like Marbury is calling Marc at night in a cold sweat. "I WANNA LIVE!!!!!!!!" LOL. It's not a murder mystery.

>>djsu - btw, why is (Stephon) allowed to talk?

djsunyc - just because you have a severe case of Stephobia doesn't mean he's a bad or dishonest person. Marbury was attending a charity event sponsored with HIS mony. Why shouldn't he be allowed to talk?

,, this IS America, ain't it?

Larry Brown is another matter.

Why? Marbury talks about his mental state when reporters ask him questions, as does Brown. Both under gag orders. Why is it okay when one violates the order and not another?

Then why were reporters kept away from the workout facility by police?

Maybe you're right, maybe it's just Brown. But after the workout facility was full of reporters and the draft prospects were asked what they saw between Brown and Isiah is when Dolan restricted reporters from the facility, so I just assumed it was a team-wide thing.

All I know is without a gag order, if I were a reporter, I'd be working real hard to gain access to a Mo Taylor or Jalen Rose (people with little or no future with the franchise to jeopardize) for the inside dope on what went down last year.

When Marbury said he loves Larry Brown, he was talking about this guy:

So you see, he wasn't lying.

I'm sure if any player or LB want to say nothing but positive remarks about what they gained from the last season and how it is going to help them in the future and how much they love NYC, there is no problem, gag order or no gag order. It is the discussing of private team business and/or trashing the team and organization that is off limits.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Sounds good, but lets face it, none of us are really sure of anything here.

Okay, let me rephrase:

I'll bet if any player or LB want to say nothing but positive remarks about what they gained from the last season and how it is going to help them in the future and how much they love NYC, there is no problem, gag order or no gag order. It is the discussing of private team business and/or trashing the team and organization that is off limits.

Steph sounds like he is just having his 19th nervous break down.

"I love Larry!"

Sitcom Idea in the works!

Knicks are a weird group these days.

It actually only got weirder from there:

http://www.nydailynews.com/sports/story/427533p-360571c.html
But what Marbury did was preach about how he grew this past season, which he said was the best of his life. With adoring children surrounding him, Marbury initially told reporters that he wouldn't answer basketball-related questions. He spoke instead about helping children and about how his mind, once "trapped," is now "free."

But then, asked what had freed him, the point guard quickly responded, "Larry Brown!"

As for his health - he sat the final 11 games last season with left knee tendinitis - Marbury said, "I'm beyond healed. I'm in a whole 'nother place."

http://www.nypost.com/sports/knicks/marbury_ing_hatchetsteph_says_he_passed_test__loves_larry_knicks_marc_berman.htm
Marbury said Brown is the reason for his "revelation" in which he no longer feels "trapped." Yes, Marbury, in kicking off his annual Stephon Marbury Classic at Surfside Gardens in his hometown Coney Island, went into some deep places, talking about a spiritual awakening that will lead to making a bigger impact on his downtrodden Brooklyn neighborhood.

"I was tested," Marbury said. "But that's all it was - a test and I passed the test and I'm moving on to the next grade.

"It was the best year of my life. I grew as a person, became a better man, better father, better husband, better communicator. I can communicate with you guys and allow you to understand exactly what I'm saying. I couldn't do that before because my mind was trapped. Now my mind is free. Now I can speak the way I want to speak. The kids understand me now. I couldn't come back and give them what I'm giving them now because I wasn't free."

In a recent Post interview, Marbury said he "wanted to die a Knick."

"I love New York more than I love myself," Marbury added yesterday. "Isiah Thomas has given me the opportunity to come home to play in the best city in the world. It's the only city so nice they named it twice - New York, New York."
