Nate said a couple of things that actually bothered me, regarding the showmanship stuff. He really has to grow up. Channing is just the Knicks cheerleader. He might be trying out for the City Dancers too. Knicks need to take him to a strip club. I hear there's one called Anucha's House. That should do the trick.

>>Earl, everyone who speaks is gold?

Non none said anything about placing VALUE on the content of opinion.

All I'm supporting is the RIGHT to voice that opinion, which some feel because a players status ( ie a rookie, or hasn't "won enough" games), is therefore NOT entitled to have documented.

"If I told you to do something different every day at the newspaper or the TV station, how would it work out?" Frye said of Brown's roster roulette. "But that was his coaching style and he made the decisions he made, and our record showed it."

What does this talk mean if we go out and win 23 games again? Enough talk. We've been talking since 2001. Win some games. Show some effort. Dive for a loose ball. Trust your teammates. The obstacle has obviously been removed so now show me Knick basketball.
I just hope that people will like me

I was the one who mentioned the rookie status and the "never won" comments. Don't ever remember saying that they couldn't have it documented (Earl, let me know where), though I was alluding to the VALUE and the content of the opinions.

It means that its a 23 win roster. No matter who coaches.

Who got next?

i agree with your comments about nate. i like the kid but he needs to get over it. until he can separate showboating in blowouts from 'his soul' he's gonna be another tough nut to crack. it's like marbury staying back to argue a non-call while his man is draining a game winning three. gentlemen, learn to pick your spots.

nate's a kid, and an immature one at that, so i can live with it for a while, but enough with these guys feeling so damned sorry for themselves. stop playing for affection already and play to win.

listen if the whole team has a problem with Larry, and it seems like the whole team did....than you have to put that on the coach. Frye seems like the most genuine guy on the team....def would do whatever coach tells him...and even he had issue with Larry. It just really is a shame b/c I knew he would have trouble with a few players and I thought that was a good thing, but there isnt one guy speaking up for him now....that has to tell you something.

Taylor breaks silence: Brown not only one to blame

Friday, June 23, 2006
BY DAVID WALDSTEIN
Star-Ledger Staff

GREENBURGH, N.Y. -- As soon as the Knicks fired Larry Brown yesterday vice president for public relations Jonathan Supranowitz called the players and told them not to say a word to reporters.

According to one player, who asked not to be named, they are under a strict mandate of silence.
This was made clear when only a few of them answered their phones.

Most of those who answered declined to speak, citing orders from the team. But forward Maurice Taylor was reached early in the morning before receiving the order (or, perhaps he simply had the courage to speak publicly), and said it was up to the players to turn things around for this troubled franchise.

"As players, we have to take responsibility for what happens," Taylor said. "We don't decide who coaches the team. It's not our job. It's our job to play for whoever the coach is, and I think we're all ready to do that."

>>"The way how this world is right now, we need more people like me." -- Stephon Marbury

Translation for the empathy-impaired

"I was honestly touched by the events related to Hurricane Katrina and decided to contribute in the best way I knew how. I am just one person trying to do the right thing.

I've always maintained a connection with my beloved Brooklyn community. I would challenge others who want to make a differrence to join me and visit a playground or teach at a sports clinic just ONE day out of the year to give something back to those less fortunate. Thank you for your support and GO Knicks!"

Nalod - we shall soon see if a Knicks player rebuts Lee, Frye and Nate's comments.

I don't care. Larry is history.

All that matters is building a new sense of trust and confidence among the tired, weary, huddled masses yearning to run with number 3.

Roll out the ball racks and get in the layup line!

"I'm trying to express my love for the game to them and I want them to fall in love with the game again, particularly the young guys," said Thomas. "I want them to have that good feeling on Saturday morning at 9 a.m., wake up and can't wait to get back to the gym like they were little kids.

"I know how important confidence is in terms of playing the game. You need confidence to do the things you'd like to do. The two things I'd like to see happen to our team is A: they fall in love with the game again; and B: they become confident players so they can go out and perform at a very high level. Make them fall in love with the game again and then you play the game for the right reasons and you're not playing for the lifestyle. You're playing for the love of it."

Balkman said ... that he wasn't upset at the booing at Madison Square Garden when his name was announced.

"That really didn't mean a thing to me," he said. "They're going to boo and everything else, but they don't bother me. They'll see what I'm about next year. I've proved people wrong before. I'm going to go out and play hard. Whatever it takes, I'm going to do it, dive on the floor, play defense, whatever."

This is the first thing said by a player that gives me hope, not that feel good BS.

Now if only Massagebury would say something similar....

This stuff is like the twilight zone. One of the guys who came to camp out of shape, played(s) little defense, does little board work. And one of the guys that people believe tuned Brown out. And was somone Brown was trying to get rid of. Says that its on the players and not the coach.

But the guys that everyone say worked there asses of for the coach and listend to the coach are coming out saying that Brown put them in a bad position or whatever they are saying.

I guess it does make sense when you think about it. The guys who worked there ass off, and care. feel they were wronged. While the guys didn't know they were wrong.

to be fair, the second year players are all in Vegas right next to the beat staff with their mic's. The rest are somewhere near a beach with the cell phone OFF.

I suspect there's not a single player on the team that would fully exonerate Brown from the failings of last year, but the players are professionals and it's their job to play hard and compete to the best of their abilities, and had all 15 players done that we'd have been a lot further along than we were. Mo knows that, as does Malik, Q, Jamal, and others.

It's not twilight zone at all to say that last year was difficult under Brown, but he was just one of the problems, and the players still need to come out and compete.
