Are you following a particular team during the playoffs? What teams do you think will meet in the finals? Who do you think will win? Who do you want to win? Which team will be the NBA Champions in 2006?

My Mavs prediction is looking even better now!

i still think the spurs take the series. if duncan doesn't foul out, the game is done. manu re-emerged and now will take it right to howard. at the end of the day, dallas doesn't have a floor general so i think that will cost them at some point this series. spurs are looking old...but they still have duncan.

I don't care who wins it. I'm enjoying these playoffs. I can't remember when the games have been this good. All the teams are good.

I got love for all the teams. Much respect to all the teams. Just wish the knicks were good enough to mix it up with them.

Just as long as Chicago not in it anymore! Thank you, thank you, thank you Miami!
I'll never trust this' team again.

Guys, the Spurs win next game they're back to homecourt advantage. This was probably the Mavs' biggest win ever. The Spurs have a huge collection of wins in true must-win situations. We got a LOT of basketball to come in this series.

I agree. It's a very loooong way from over, even though the Spurs should not feel comfortable. Even if they do win the championship this year, it will be more because they were the best "good team" in the league, not because they were a great legendary team like most champions.

A great legendary team like most champions???? What????

This would be their 4th championship in 8 years? That's pretty legendary.

Sometimes the teams that have to battle and slog their way through every challenge and remain upright are more legendary than the ones who have all cyclinders clicking perfectly and sweep through.

Sure, it would be a lot of championships in a diluted league. If that's legendary to you, so be it. But if they had to compete against any of the legendary teams of the previous 2 decades, they'd probably get embarrassed.

Oh, now this is an interesting question. I'll have to return to this one later.

Here are the champions of the last 2 decades:

1985-86 Boston Celtics 4-2 Houston Rockets
1986-87 Los Angeles Lakers 4-2 Boston Celtics
1987-88 Los Angeles Lakers 4-3 Detroit Pistons
1988-89 Detroit Pistons 4-0 Los Angeles Lakers
1989-90 Detroit Pistons 4-1 Portland Trail Blazers
1990-91 Chicago Bulls 4-1 Los Angeles Lakers
1991-92 Chicago Bulls 4-2 Portland Trail Blazers
1992-93 Chicago Bulls 4-2 Phoenix Suns
1993-94 Houston Rockets 4-3 New York Knicks
1994-95 Houston Rockets 4-0 Orlando Magic
1995-96 Chicago Bulls 4-2 Seattle SuperSonics
1996-97 Chicago Bulls 4-2 Utah Jazz
1997-98 Chicago Bulls 4-2 Utah Jazz
1998-99 San Antonio Spurs 4-1 New York Knicks
1999-2000 Los Angeles Lakers 4-2 Indiana Pacers
2000-2001 Los Angeles Lakers 4-1 Philadelphia 76ers
2001-2002 Los Angeles Lakers 4-0 New Jersey Nets
2002-2003 San Antonio Spurs 4-2 New Jersey Nets
2003-2004 Detroit Pistons 4-1 Los Angeles Lakers
2004-2005 San Antonio Spurs 4-3 Detroit Pistons

I'm not sure who you're calling legendary here. But I'd say this - they lose to the Celtics, early Lakers, Bulls. Beat the early Pistons, Rockets. They've won as many against the latter day Lakers as they've lost, and they beat the latter day Pistons in their one meeting.

I agree with that. I think they'd lose to the bad boy Pistons. The Pistons had more offense and better defense than the Spurs. I think it would be close with the Rockets, but I wasn't even thinking that recent. I was thinking more when there were legendary teams: The Celtics, bad boy Pistons, Bulls, Lakers. If Tim played in that era, I think he'd be remembered as a very good big man who won no championships like Karl Malone and Patrick Ewing are remembered. (Or if you gave Duncan the teammates Ewing or Malone had, he'd have 0 championships and be remembered like Malone and Ewing are.)

I think the Bad boys win too. Don't forget that the lengedary Bulls teams won before and after Houston, that team was the "Bridge" Between the good ol' days and now and I don't see them as good as the Celtic, Lakers, or Bad Boys.

I don't know about the Tim Duncan not winning with the players that Malone had either. Stockton was an all-time great, I'd take him over any guy backing Duncan now. But Duncan does have a number 3 in...let's say Ginobli, that Malone never had. Ewing had his time wasted because he never had that number 2 star.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

All right, I pushed it with the Bad Boys cause I saw I was falling into Bonn's trap.

But think about it, they could have split with the Bad Boys.

They could have !!!

And as far as Duncan replacing Ewing or Malone, I'd say Duncan would have won championships where those 2 didn't. He could have done everything Malone did for Utah plus Stockton could have dumped it into him for low-post scoring too.

And while Ewing was a great great warrior, he often fell short in the clutch. Duncan just has a different knack for coming up huge in crucial games with series and titles at stake.

So you basically agree then that if Duncan played in the era of the Celts, Lakers, Pistons, Bulls, he'd win 0 championships and wouldn't be remembered differently than Karl Malone or Ewing? Even if you think he was better than those players, people don't make that fine a distinction. He'd be remembered as a great player who couldn't take his team over the hump. That's probably how he'd be remembered in any era until this recent one actually. (With 30 teams, the NBA talent has never been close to this diluted.)

Tim Duncan would lead a team to a championship in any era.

He could've beat MJ's Bulls and Isiah's Pistons.

with the exception of the Dream, there has been no big man in the last 20 years to dsiplay the level of intelligence, skill, strength, will, determination on both sides of the ball that Duncan has.

players who realize I can score 19 and win vs put up the 35 I'm capable of and lose get zero respect on the board.

My post wasn't that clear, I agree that Duncan is better than Ewing or Malone. However, I have a hard time seeing him beating the Bulls if he had the same Jazz, Knicks, or his Spurs teams. Mike was just too good and he was going to be better than anyone, and Scottie was great too.

So I guess the question was: Would he have beaten Hakeem? Maybe. We were one Starks play from winning that one (Not game 7, the turnover he commited in the last minute of game 6 was the killer.). But I think Hakeem at his very best was better than Duncan.

My fondest memory of Hakeen was when David Robinson got MVP, and then Hakeem destroyed his ass in the playoffs.

No way. I said just the opposite:

Think about it: Jordan/Pippen/Horace Grant or Dennis Rodman Vs. Duncan/Ginobli/Parker.

I bet on the Bulls.
