Definitely No...
Kmart is jerk...
Was very good before but has a fragile body that is now recovering from a serious injury to a very critical part of his body.
I remember when he broke his leg in College... I felt bad for the guy.
But after our playoff encounter last year... I can't stand his attitude.
Add his brittle body to that attitude along with an obscene contract.
It's too much risk for an organization already overly burdended financially (capwise).
i don't think his body is (brittle), he had an injury. i don't think that would make your body brittle. let the knicks doctors be the judge of that. as for our playoff encounter last year, when was the last time a knick had the marbles to call somebody out AND backup his words? the guy plays w/heart, that sounds like a KNICK to me. (if it's the right trade ofcourse)

We can judge it. Martin has broken his leg twice and now he has a degenerative knee condition. He has some pretty serious wear and tear at this point.

By the way, no to Martin. I think KM + LB is not a good match. Too much attitiude on both sides.

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

If we could get k-mart for Mo, then I'd take it. The worst that can happen, we get another Mo. The best thing that can happen, K's knee is good to go, he tames down and dominates the boards, and' I think we have another expiring contract (I think, correct me on that will ya guys).

Yes, Jalen. $17M.

KNICKS EYE K-MART

By MARC BERMAN

April 28, 2006 -- The Knicks will again bid for Kenyon Martin now that he assuredly will be traded by the Nuggets this summer, but Larry Brown has also asked Isiah Thomas to target another potential injury risk: Miami's free-agent center Alonzo Mourning.

Brown is desperate for Thomas to obtain an inside banger, a rugged rebounder and shot-blocker. Brown does not appear to believe that Eddy Curry or Channing Frye will become stout defenders.

Martin is as available as ever - though the Knicks are one of few potential suitors, as they were at February's trading deadline - because of Martin's long-term contract ($54 million over four remaining years) and knee problems. He missed 26 games because of tendinitis in his surgically repaired knee. He's now at war with coach George Karl, who suspended the power forward for two playoff games.

Mourning, whom Brown loves, plays it year by year. Despite his kidney illness, Mourning had a ferocious defensive season, averaging 7.8 points, 5.5 rebounds and 2.66 blocks. Playing against the Knicks in November, he notched nine rejections. He returned from a partially torn calf muscle, playing in Game 3 of the Heat's series against the Bulls last night in Chicago. As a potential draw, some of Mourning's kidney doctors are based in New York.

Mourning made just $1.7 million this season and the Knicks could easily outbid the thrifty Heat by using all or part of their $5 million mid-level exception. Owner James Dolan's generosity gives the Knicks the advantage of extending long-term deals to risky players.

The Nuggets will likely look to dump Martin for an expiring contract; the Knicks have two of those, in Maurice Taylor and Jalen Rose. Last February the Nuggets were interested in Penny Hardaway's expiring deal but also wanted Frye in a larger package. The Knicks instead made the Steve Francis trade.

Thomas returned yesterday from a European scouting trip. In Paris, he saw 6-11 Ukranian center Oleksiy Pecherov, slated to be drafted from 15th to 25th. The Knicks have picks Nos. 20 and 29.

Herb Brown will be enshrined Sunday in the National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame in Commack, L.I., along with former Knick center Neil Walk. Larry Brown was inducted 10 years ago.

Trading for Martin would demonstrate more of the same thinking that got the Knicks where they are today -- huge risk and huge salary. No thanks!!!

No to the K-Mart blue-light special. He can help us now if he stays healthy, but we aren't winning anything anytime soon with/without him.

This is no Mo Taylor trade either, unlike Mo, K-Mart will still have 4 years left on his deal. The negatives outweigh the positives by a decent amount here. Forget K-Mart, give the reigns to Frye, and hope that we can sign or draft someone like Evans in the offseason.
"This is a very cautious situation that we're in. You have to be conservative in terms of using your assets and using them wisely. We're building for the future." - Zeke (I guess not protecting a first round pick is being conservative)

Put me as a no because we have better, less risky options with every player I want to get rid of.

I'm used to being in the minority and being right 100% of the time so when Kmart becomes a Knick and the indentity of the Knicks completely changes this thread is going to get very interesting

I don't think there is a person on here that would be upset with you being right.

The reality is none of us know if KMart would have any effect on this miserable organization. It's a crapshoot. I personally just am tired of the same risks over and over. If we can get him for crap or get a draft pick in return I'm okay. But if we do the same nonsense throwing in draft picks, expiring contracts for injuried guys. Let's not treat him like a savior and it's all good. Denver doesn't want him. Let's not oversell to get him. Let's not get hosed, this way if he fails it doesn't hurt us. Like the Francis trade.

I don't think the Knicks are crazy enough to give up Frye or a draft pick but the rumor is Taylor or Rose for Kmart or Francis or Steph. Maybe if more people realized that more people would be in favor of adding Kmart. Ahh nevermind, there's also the onces who are perfectly content with adding more incomplete 13-20min per games players like Dalembert, Evans, Eddie Jones to this already imcomplete team and think we'll be fine in contending for the 8th seed

i outlined the question very plainly in my initial post... this is under the notion that the Knicks will get KMart in exchange for Mo T, Malik or 1 of the disgruntled primadonnas on the team that LB wants to be rid of this summer (Francis, Marbury)... obviously if you can get him for crap like Jerome James, that's a no brainer also... no one is saying let's trade away our draft picks or any of our young talent for KMart.

It's not what you are saying that matters. It is what the Knicks actually do that matters. I can't say I'm completely confident that Denver won't finagle a draft pick out of any trade. That's what we do.

KMart is a great guy on a mature team with great attitudes. But with our miserable atmosphere he scares me. I dont' want to give up anythign of value just to get another "superstar"

we won't and its not going to be miserable for long with Larry running the show. And Kmart is more than a superstar, he's an emotional leader. Stephon Marbury is a superstar

believe me Bip, if the Knicks give up any picks or any of our young talent to get KMart, i'll be right there with you on the NO list... I'm only in favor of this if we can get KMart for what I outlined earlier.
