West was a helluva player, but donn't you think he got more than his share of credit for the long regulation jumper against the Knicks in '73,

By the way, no one mentions the Knicks rallied to win that game.

Okay, I'll give you West over the indefatiguable Hondo- but was he more clutch than Clyde?

They wouidn't have if there had been a 3-point line!!!

That was probably the greatest shot in the history of the NBA. Tho my personal favorite was Don Nelson's. Remember that one???

Nah, I'd still say Zeke (the REAL Zeke!) was the most clutch player ever. Even more than Hondo or MJ.

C'mon Marv, if there were a three point line Jerry Lucas would have won that game LONG before Jerry West had a chance to hoist that luckky shot

Lucas' ICBM range made a World B Free jumper look like a layup.

Don't get me started

Jerry Lucas is one of the most underrated players in the history of the game.

Guy didn't look like a hoop player but man was he good.

I'm sure HE never forgot a play!!

But still, the point is JWest and clutchness. I'm afraid nothing will change my opinion on that. I saw him do it SO many times. End of game. Ball in Zeke from Cabin Creek's hands.

Money!!

No doubt, logo was in a class by himself, but the Lakers struggled to get past the Hated Celtics for years with some pretty decent teams. Even with Wilt.

More clutch than Oscar Robertson?

More clutch than the despised Michael Jordan?

Could he double clutch like Earl Monroe?

The REAL question is can Jamal Crawford grow to become a clutch point guard?

Lakes couldn't beat Celts because Celts always had the better overall team and played better team ball. As great as West and Baylor were, and later Wilt, the Celts just had it over them when it counted. Celtics had a mentality like the Bulls in the 90's. They simply were not going to lose and everyone knew it.

As far as Jamal, that's easy. The answer is no.

Earl - excuse my language - GET STEVIE THE F OFF THIS TEAM!!!

I like Calderon.

Barbosa's an interesting talent but I don't know if he's rally a PG.

Jose Calderon?

on a side note, toronto is my 2nd favorite team in the nba. i probably have seen 30+ games of theirs this season. calderon is like if you took steve nash, cut him in half, then made him impregnate his sister and she had a son. that's jose calderon.

i would LOVE the raptors to trade their #1 pick for brevin knight and a future pick. that would be a good move. some are saying ridnour...who is OK but not worth that lottery pick.

djsunyc - does that mean if you took the nephew of Wilis Reed's half brother and hooked him up with LaWanda Page (Aunt Esther from Sanford and Son) and they had a kid - he would be Jackie Butler?
