because they've been in the lotto each of the last two seasons and are over the cap with few assets? They've lost 8 of 10 with Ricky Davis, they're in a tailspin, Garnett is unhappy and admits he doesn't have the energy to do it all himself anymore. Trading him gets them out from a $90 million salary obligation to the man, gives them $20 million in cap room. I just think they'd want a lotto pick or an established player in addition to Frye.

also, he's a great two way player, but as a superstar he is flawed. he has no go to move, is an above average offensive player, not the kind of scorer that Ewing was or even guys like Wade and Bron are. what made him special was his defense, and his effort there isn't as high as it used to be. the last two seasons he's registered career lows in blocks. Jerome James averaged more blocks than him last season in 15minutes a game.

I don't think THIS KG trade will happen, but I wouldn't be surprised at all to see him move somewhere by Thursday, or this summer at the latest.

I'm betting it won't like 90 percent the knicks won't get him though I hoep I'm wrong.

True we should usually stick to a plan but we must be dyamic and retan flexibility when an oppotune chance like this arrises

When you can get KG to howl for you do it regardless even if it means flipping the entire team. This guy has never been injury prone.

You match KG and marbury together again and you have a playoff team for the next 3 years. He is the most versatile big man out there.

I don't care if you give away the three tooks you do this trade in a heart beat. Their value is at an all time high.

He's turing 30 and probably has atleast another 3 years of playing at this level. He's not Cwebb injury prone.

Kg is a true franchise player. You don't do this trade and you will regret a lifetime. Frye will never be half the player KG is.

I'll trade anyone anyone even curry. You take a top5 player in the game and you can still use the expring contracts to garner picks and overpaid stars to build around.

Maybe I;m biased but I like Kg because he is good and I like his attitude. It may mean no championships but I rather ride with him

I can't believe you guys don't want Kevin Garnett and are so dramatic about this possibility. I hope you are being facicious. I'm all for developing young players, but you're scared of getting Kevin Garnett for Frye and Penny Hardaway?

So, 29 years old is just too old? When he and Marbury were together Marbury played the best ball of his career, isn't that an encouraging sign? He helps us in nearly every department that we have weaknesses IMMEDIATELY, while we can still develop the rest of the young guys, but not rely on them.

What do you all expect this team to do? Is just doing nothing automatically better than any deal? Even for KG? Is developing Frye really better than getting Kevin Garnett in his prime? Banking on the potential of Frye can be just as much ALL IN as going for KG.

I think you guys are just so paranoid that no matter what trade the Knicks make, especially if it that term involving the fake curse and star player, that it automatically must be a disaster for the team.

Let's put it this way...I respectfully disagree.

I agree with you. What do you guys want? "we want defensive minded players! 2 years ago we wanted a francise player or was it a superstar. No I remember now, it was an MVP candidate. Right now we need smart unselfish players that play defense and can guy an open jumper."

Dennis rodman is waiting for isiah to call so don't worry. Larry already contacted dolph schayes and bob petit. Rick Barry is pissed the league won't give him a job so we could have a real shooter coming aboard pretty soon.

minny will never do this trade

chicago can offer tt hinrich and nyk's picks for kg which is far more paletable.

I don't even think frye lee and haradaway will ge tthe deal done even if we take back hudson or blount.

the article is a load of baloney and if you think about it the knicks will be lucky to trade for stevie franchise for just ariza, crawford and taylor. I think Isiah would have done a good job if he could pull that deal.

the only reason I can see it happening if kg demands nyk and minny is loyal to kg and grants his wishes which is very very
rare in the business today "loyalty" but you never know since Kg has taken pay cuts for them its plausible

but I thhought it was KG said a few weeks ago that he didnt want to come to NYK but he wouldnt mind if marbury went back to minny.

this rumour is all baloney, just wait till thursday hah

You guys are INSANE!!!!!!! "KG's cooked" "this is a massive gamble" "he's a flawed superstar". What are you guys smokin'?!?!

This deal will not happen, because its too good to be true. Its Vince Carter for Eric Williams x 267,768.

And you guys are saying you dont want to do Frye, Penny for Kevin Garnett?!?! who's not even 30 yet!?!?!

What in heavens name do you want?

I'll tell you this much, if we do somehow get that trade and our lineup is Marbury, Francis, Rose, KG and Curry I could care less about developing youngsters. We develop them so that in the future they could be as good as KG and Francis.

And Ill tell you something else, if it doesnt work out, you know who I WONT blame? Isiah Thomas. If your GM goes out and gets you a 9 time All-Star ex-league MVP, a 3 time all-star for the 2 guard and a 2 time all-star at the point ALL UNDER 30, you damn well win! And if you dont win, the only people to blame are the players and the coach.

How some people can see this as a bad move is utterly beyond me. There's only one person in the league I would want before KG, and that's LeBron.

Yeah I hear ya..but what do we have to lose...Have you watched these sorry asses lately....I love Frye but now willing to sacrifice him...I not in love with Larry..Zeke has been sorry, tho I thought he could get the job done....So give KG a try with Marbs and hopefully we can get Franchise as well...Let's see what we happens..If it doesn't work out...Hey...Blow them to bits...Get rid of all of them...We rebuild from scratch..Listen, Larry is 65 and is not willing to teach the rooks...ok fine...he is owed 50 mil and ain't going nowhere..fine...We are NYers, we adjust..we go with the flo..If KG,Marbs and Franchise can't get it done, it's not our money....In 3 to 4 yrs, we can start thinking about the cap again...In the mean time we get exciting basketball...TELL ME WHERE DO I SIGN....

If that deal is real, no matter how much I like Frye, you have to make it. Garnett, Francis and Marbs all expire the same year. You make a run for the next 3 years at winning the title. You use the mid level this year to get a backup PG and a real defensive stopper at the 2-3. Then you cross your fingers that everyone stays healthy.

Are you kidding?
Marbury/Nate
Francis/Q1
Rose/Q2
Garnett/Lee
Curry/Butler/James

The starting 5 is Fast, Strong and Tall. The reserves work their tails off and are young and can score.

If IT pulls this off, he IS THE MESSIAH.

exactly. i think once the rumors fly out that other offers, far better than ours, will be on the table. i CAN see why minny would consider this. frye's stock is very high and many scouts have said he can be an all-star caliber player. age is big also. but the fact remains that half of the nba would trade pretty much all of their team to get kg. he is that good. so his stats are not like they used to be. the one thing i like is his ball control. he makes the right passes at the right time. he sees the floor as well as anyone. most importantly his basketball iq, which we lack in every position except with marbury and maybe rose, is astronomical. if this is true, we need to get it done and be happy about it.

Look, the article says KG wants NY and they will respect his wishes. The deadline is almost here, wake me up when it gets here but, DAMN, this dream is good.

A couple things about Garnett. I'm not sure how cooked he is vs. disinterested. The Wolves have been mediocre for a couple of years now, and have been pretty stagnant throughout his career. He's also playing with much less talent around him the last couple of years vs. the years previous. His percentages look pretty good and just over his last 10 games he's averaging 15 boards per.

And I think if you assembled him around a star cast, potentially with guys like Marbury and Francis, and other skilled guys like Rose and Curry you'd get to see just how good his complimentary skills are.

It's a starphuch, and absolutely against rebuilding, but that is the Knicks MO....unfortunately has been for some time. But if those trades go down, the Knicks will have the most talent they've had in years, and all the principles coming in around 29-30.

And I absolutely agree, the rumored offer is just not realistic. As much as I value Frye and would be reluctant to trade him, it would certainly take a lot more than Frye+Penny. I have no idea what those pieces are, but it certainly is some combination of Lee, Butler, Nate, and our two first rounders....and maybe all of them.

I have a feeling that those are definately just the principles and we will probably get back someone like Hudson and we would have to throw in another player (maybe a Malik or Q or Jerome....)

I'd be glad to get rid of one of those 3.

the one thing i will say about kg is that he never had that go to move at the end of games to just take over and win. i love kg and he's definitely a top 5 nba player but it's the one thing that seperates him from ewing. ewing would demand the ball and take over games. kg is not like that. but with steph, francis, and curry, that's actually a GOOD thing.

We watched Ewing much more then we ever have seen KG.

KG's teams never were complete, nor did he have the muscle around him.

KG at Small Forward? Hows a front line of the rebounding fundamentally strong passing David Lee, the Power of Eddy, and the magnificance of KG! Rotate Lee with a Butler to bang when needed.

Let teams try to match up with that!

Eddy goes to Wes Unseld school of starthing a break and let them run rabbit run!

Rose off the bench. No Francis, give me a real point and set Marbs free!

We need a sharp shooter role player.

I kind of agree. If we really can get Garnett, I'm not so crazy about adding Francis. I guess it would be okay if all we had to give up were Mo T, Ariza, and Crawford though. Francis is better in all phases of the game than Crawford.
KG to NY, another crazy rumor........
