SAS said Stevie does NOT want to go to Denver and the deal is as described: Penny, Ariz, Craw for Stevie and Cato OR Battie

I wouldn't trade Franchise for Kmart. Not only is his deal longer, but his knee problems are a red flag. Plus, we need a 2g, we don't necesarily need Kmart. Although we need a shotblocker, paying over 60 million for 6-7 more yrs for shotblocking isn't a good idea. We can get shotblocking by using the LLE (stevne Hunter or someone like that.

I agree. I can live with the deal for Francis as reported here, but please, no Kmart.

that is quite the steal. too bad it's fools good

unless you think the Knicks can get someone like KG for Penny's expiring contract, Craw & Ariza, or that any of those 3 guys are key components to the Knicks' future otherwise, i don't see how you can expect to get any better than Steve Francis.

rebuild and land the next Ewing, Duncan, Lebron, Olajuwon, Shaq, Jordan, KG, Kobe etc. Might make us a contender very quickly.

Now if the plan is to bring in both Francis and Kmart than it's a different story. I too would not trade Francis for Kmart NO WAY!! but if we're going a backcourt of Marbury/Francis we deperately need defense and no one out there right now is as good as Kmart.

If this is true than it would probably be the best trade Isiah Thomas has ever made. NYK would be getting more talented PLUS it helps with the salary cap due to Stevie's shorter deal than Jamal.
If NYK can't win with the veterans why not play the rookies?

per SAS, francis DOES NOT want to go to denver and informed them that.

he talked to LB yesterday, and although he wouldn't talk about any specific deals, but said if he had talent, he could make it work. he also said LB feels like it's time to play the young guys.

I know Kmart had all kinds of problems.

He broke his leg twice. Not breaking anymore. The knee thing is somting that may be blown out of proportion.

Sometimes dudes got thru it and come out stronger and better. KT wasted 3 years before he became a rock.

If Isiah has not messed with the lovely Dr. Callahan too much perhaps we get a good read on his problems and the team does the right thing.

Forget the cap, our payroll is just an embarassement we have to live with. I can if our record was not pathetic.

We are a joke.

Keep DLee! Keep the bigs. Trade Nate.

rebuild with what? we don't have our pick this year... how are we to get the next KG, Ewing, Duncan, etc.? if you wanna say we shoulda never given up the pick in the first place for Curry, that's a different argument... this trade doesn't involve any picks... just an expiring contract we don't need, & a player who's shown he doesn't fit into what we're trying to accomplish here... you're getting back the most talented player in return along w/a veteran PF who can fill a role as well... what's not to like?

maybe Isiah has another trade up his sleeve to get KMart? who knows... i'm fine w/this trade either way.

we need a 2G so we are going to bring in the 6-1 Francis who plays the same exact game as Marbury with a frontline of Curry/Frye/Jalen who can't rebound, defend or block shots? I don't know man if we're bringing in Francis we need a new frontline

Francis is 6'3" and even bigger than Marbury. He's like a more physical Starks (minus the defense, of course!)

Francis is a better scorer than Craw, better passer, better rebounder, & might be a better defender, as sad as that sounds... who cares if he plays a similar game to Marbs? the fact is he's better than the player he's replacing... plus his contract runs for a shorter length also... i don't get the opposition to this one.

dont shoot the messenger

deal:
NYK sends
Crawford
Ariza
Penny

Orl Sends
Francis
Battie

I said this exact trade last night! It was kinda obvious since Cato was being sent but oh well... still cool!

SAS says the deal is for either Cato or Battie depending on the Detroit deal...says it's in Orlando's hands now.

I see what a bunch of you are saying about shipping out Battie out... BUT if I'm not mistaken you can not trade a player that you get in a deal for a certain amount of days after the deal is consumated. UNLESS, it is a 1 for 1 swap, which this is not. Can anyone confirm that?

ur right but still Marbury/Francis/Rose/Frye/Curry who's going to play defense? We need a SF/PF who can shutdown the other teams best player. Can you think of one? I can only think of Kmart and don't have the patience to give Curry another 6yrs to become a shutdown defender

Craw wasn't playing any defense regardless... i agree that we need to address the D, but the Knicks make out better in this trade.
