Well back to talking about drafting Rudy Fernandez 6-6 SG from Spain. Ginobili like shenanigans on offensive except a hell of a lot more athletic. Man if I only bookmarked that thread from last year containing that site with all the international highlights. Remember the highlights of Petro, Splitter, Vazquez etc? Rudy Fernandez was unreal!

See, now that we have young bigs in place, a guy like Rudy Fernandez makes PERFECT sense to me. I would be all for it.

Taylor
Woods
Curry
Marbs
Jalen!

You definitely go that rout considering how great has Woods been playing and how inconsistent have both Q-Rich and Craw been. Will it actually make any difference in the wins colum? Not that much...

I can see Rose playing PG with and without Steph on the court.

I hope Woods gets his munites. i think he has earned them with his effort on D and rebounding.

Butler just got some daylight. Ariza and Robinson just found the bench. QRich will be moved now for sure, if there is a taker.

Who cares about he $$ next year. ITS NOT ABOUT THE MONEY!

I think Jalen can be a very adequate starting SG for the next 12 months, by which point he'll probably be traded. That's just the Dolan way!

You better pray that Jalen isn't traded for more payroll unless you are magically getting a superstar out of that deal. Summer 07 is the next major checkpoint - blow this one and we are stuck in mediocrity for another 3 years. Mid 1st round picks rarely get you all-stars - chuck Jalen, trade Marbury at next years deadline, and get in like for free agency in 07.

Uggg...Rudy Fernández is like Jamal Crawford but with a much higher IQ and I'd say he is worse offensively. I don't know, I really like Rudy Fernández, but I'm not sure he is what we need.

You can't seriously think this team will ever be under the cap with Dolan as owner. You can count on about a 25% increase in payroll every year. History repeats itself.

On second thought,I like the sound of a pick. I just hope Denver doesn't make the playoffs and yields the Knicks a good draft position.

it just doesnt make sense to try and get under the cap until 07/08 at best. so adding contracts that dont extend past 07/08 makes sense, especially when getting 1st rounders.

I was offering no opinion on what makes sense; just offering a economics/history lesson on Dolanomics

If Isiah and Dolan collectively grow a brain at some point, then there is hope yet.

Obviously, Toronto's pick would be better. I figured we were getting Denver's #1. That figures to be the 22 pick right now. Maybe we can get Brandon Roy at this point. DO you think 22 is too high to pick him?

Solid trade. We really do need Jalen's help on the perimeter badly, at least in the short term, given JC's big slump, Q's seasonlong ineptness, and Marbury's injury. This will help us win more games this season, which we may as well try to do anyway since we're not going to have our pick.

Long term, we get another youth with the pick. We lose nothing past this season or next by trading AD, and Jalen's contract doesn't meaningfully impact our salary cap situation.

All in all, a pretty solid trade for both the present and the future.

I like the trade.

AD for Rose and a pick gives the Knicks a player who can still play and a pick who might be a player.

Now Kendra Davis is Toronto's problem!

This trade also puts the lie in all this "We're rebuilding" nonsense.

I would be surprised if Rose does not eat up even more of the "experience minutes" that the youngsters should be getting to learn.

Oh well,

oohah

Good luck Mike D'Antoni, 'cause you ain't never seen nothing like this before!

Rose will eat minutes from-

Quinton - not a bad thing

Trevor - while he tests the water with playing guard in practice

Jamal - the practice competition will do him good

competition is a good thing

Tom is right...

If anything this should help us have a chance at winning more games NOW which should be the Knicks' realistic short term goal, so the pick we gave to the Bulls stings less. It also puts Frye in a position to get more minutes, which should be good for his development and those who have wanted to see him get more burn.

It's certainly not a given that our record improves, but Rose is a veteran who can still can play, where as Davis was truly a ghost of himself. Jalen can get minutes at the 1 (not much, be did it in college & on the Nuggets) if needs be and at the 2, but mostly at the 3. At any of those positions, Rose is an instant upgrade, however slight, to our current starter and backup. He has a good assist to turnover ratio and can score.

The pick is something we need as well, no matter where it is. Sounds like if we get Denver's pick with Top 10 protection and get lucky from the Nuggets faltering we could get a late lottery pick.

I'm not jumping for joy from this trade, but I understand the move. We're not going to get under the cap anytime soon, so we might as well rent Rose for a season or so, fill an impending need at the 2-3 positions, especially, and get another draft pick.

Of course, Rose could be a failure and another cancer to add to our already poor team chemistry, while loosing our best locker room presence in Davis and giving his huge ending contract, for a pick may not get us as much if Denver makes the playoffs (if the pick is Denver's). Rose could take minutes away from guys like Woods & Ariza who some want to see play more creating a new glut at the SF position.

I still say we have to get Q1 outta here, if anything now, but it's hard to see how, with his contract. Here's hoping he recovers mentally and physically (but I'm not counting on anything).

I also hope Briggs is right in that if the pick is protected this year that it is unprotected next year.
