Sorry guys, but Briggs is 100% correct. We are playing stupid. We are playing soft. We are playing like we've never picked up a round ball before. Bynum has some big time raw skills on both ends. He's going to be a big time player years down the road. Yes, he has looked ugly at times this season, but hey, so have Frye, Nate and Lee and Ariza. It's sad that anyone would defend this current Knicks team. Everyone on it is accountable. Isiah, Dolam, Brown, Marbury, the rookies, vets, everyone. The whole team sucks.
basketball is a game of confidence. you can look at what's happening on the court and be pissed, but you have to realize WHY it's happening. call it excuses, fine. you want a scapegoat, fine. it's the american way to ignore why there are problems and demand someone's head.
What are we ignoring? That this is a very mentally weak team? That they aren't as good as Isiah and his band of Kool-Aid drinkers want everyone to believe and no amount of time is going to change that? That this "rebuilding" talk is just talk since this "core" isn't worth building around and we have no lottery pick this year or next or in 2010 and no cap room for even longer?
No one is drinking any freakin' Kool-Aid. Everyone knows the team sucks, but the team sucked before he got here too. If he is fired, bfd, but as long as Little Dolan is in power, it won't make a f cking difference.
Because the team sucked before he got here means it's ok that they suck even more now??? I hate Dolan as much as I hate Isiah but you can't get an owner fired. You can hope for a GM that actually has a rebuilding plan and knows what he's doing unlike Isiah.
Where did I say that? My point is that any GM that Dolan hires will get a "win now" mandate, which is what animates all the sh tty trades and signings.
Dolan merely has to be disowned or disinherited by his dad, or at least reassigned. As long as he is here, the Knicks will suck.
I don't think that's true. They've already toned down the "win now" stuff and talk about rebuilding. Isiah isn't the right person for the job and needs to be replaced immediately especially if they are truly going the rebuild route.
They've toned down the "win now" talk because the facts on the ground changed: Houston became disabled, and then retired.
Remember, when Isiah traded for Marbury, he said it was to pair him and Houston. If Houston had stayed healthy, and he had been able to trade for Rasheed, his plan may have worked. Personally, I would have preferred blowing up the team instead.
He also inherited a $90 million payroll that contained contracts that would have kept them over the cap for three years, iirc.
Has Isiah done a great job? No, but I don't think Dolan would ever permit a rebuild except by necessity, which is what they are faced with now.
But go ahead, fire Isiah. I just don't things are likely to get better.
