Enyspree, You are failing to realize their need for a rebounder and toughness that smith & gadz and a rookie won't bring. they haave plenty of guard scoring. Its a good trade for both teams

Wait a minute are we now downsizing Bogut's expectations? Number one picks do not need help. They should start right away. Howard started, LBJ started, Ming started, Brown didn't start, Martin started. These are your last 5 #1 picks overrall. Bogut is now in the company of Brown? Is that were we are going? Because that is bad indicator right there I tell you right now. Number 1 picks are in a class by the themselves. They shouldn't take a year or 2 to get right. They should be better than your Gadzuric. If that's the case what the point in drafting him?

$h!t, Frye was the #8 pick, and he should start. Maybe Zeke was right when he said he would have picked Frye over Bogut.

The Bucks have one thing we don't have--a lethal shooter like Redd. Even Simmons has a better mid-range game than anybody on our team.

this isnt any lottery team , imho. tell me how many clubs have their combination of frontcourt and backcourts?

Not so sure the Bucks are in the playoffs. They're certainly in the mix, but right now I'd rank the East

1) Pistons
2) Pacers
3) Miami (I agree they have problems, but still, regular season, they're loaded)
4) Nets
5) Cavs
6) Knicks
7) Bulls
8) Wizards
9) Bucks
10) Sixers
11) Magic
12) Celts
13) Charlotte
14) Atlanta
15) Toronto

The Wizards and Bulls were 4 and 5 last year, and have lost a little, but re-tooled well. The Sixers could easily make the playoffs. The Magic have holes but also maybe the best big man in the conf. I don't think the Bucks are any lock for the playoffs. Not when they're banking on TJ Ford to stay healthy. Don't forget, Magloire only played 21 games last year. And who says Bobby Simmons wasn't a one year fluke? For my money, they lost a lot of depth on the wing trading Mason. They MAY make the playoffs, but they're hardly a lock.

Briggs, this is where it becomes apparent that you are in love with every other team but the Knicks. Bogut was drafted over M. Williams. For the ready reason HE WAS THE MOST READY FOR THE NBA. This is laughable, he doesn't have the type of upside as others but was supposely ready for the NBA. Just check out your own posts about going Bogut over others.

what does bogut going #1 have to do with me? 90%+ of NBA teams wouldve taken Bogut #1 and for good reason. Im sure they figured they could get close to a double double from Bogut in season 1, but that can be from either 4 or 5 and or off the bench.
I think he said that because of how much you loved Bogut, esp. when you claimed that he would win multiple championships. There's a lot of indirect signs that the Bucks are less high on him than you were.

Also, one more tidbit about the Bucks making the playoffs: they're easily the worst team in their own division. Bucks have to play the Pacers, Pistons, Cavs and Bulls four times a piece. They might be better than the Bulls, but no way are they better than the other three.

Contrast that with the Knicks who get 8 games against the Celts and Raps and the Wizards who get 12 games against the Hawks, Magic and Bobs.

I think the East is wide open since Larry left Detroit, Eddy left the Bulls, Reggie left the Pacers (don't underestimate his influence there), and Cleveland self-destructed last year and I'm not sure if they have put themselves back together.

I really disagree with this. There will be a rush for the last two or three playoff spots, but I think the top five teams in the East are better than they've been in a while. The Pacers are fantastically deep, the Cavs added the shooters Lebron has needed for two years, the Bulls will be good - Sweetney fits much better there next to Tyson than he did here. The East is very good. Top to bottom, I'd say it's better than the West.

Simmons has a better mid-game than Q, does Q even had a mid-game?

Bogut is still developing, he will only get better. He already came a long way from where he was 2yrs ago. You can't teach his size, skills & toughness period

actually he was one of the few NCAA guys I actually sat down and watched play during the regular season. I saw what he did to that guy from BYU and it impressed the hell out of me. but nice try anyway

This trade made Bucks better. They traded bench guy for a starting Center. You can't go wrong. Bucks gonna be a good team. They had alittle hole at C/PF but now with Magloire,Gadz,Bogut and Smith they have options.

As someone who has watched Andrew Bogut for all of last year in college and a game 2 years ago, I can firmly say that he is going to be an excellent player in the NBA. Yes, Andrew Bogut was the first pick in the NBA draft but so what, that doesnt mean he has to perform this year. The expectations of #1 picks have been greatly increased with the Duncans, AI's, and Lebron's the past 10 years. Their is nothign written that says the #1 pick of the draft has to be a starter on his team the next year and I don't think it should be that way, let Bogut learn.

Bogut has all the skills to be just as good on offense as Duncan is. He has excellent footwork, SUPERB court-vision, I think one day he'll average 6-7 assists as a Center in the NBA. To go along with his footwork he is an excellent shooter, he uses the backboard, he has easy but dominant low-post moves. Now comes the defense. The one flaw that Bogut has is that hes not very fast, he's not going to beat anyone down the court but that by no means he's not a good defender. As I said before he has excellent footwork which helps him on defense because he is able to keep with the guys he's guarding and he does an excellent job of staying out of foul trouble becuase he is so good with his footwork. The guy is a Tim Duncan clone and while his career isn't going to start the same way I damn near guarentee that he becomes the force in the NBA that Tim Duncan, if not Duncan Elite status he gets VERY close.
