WNBA don't "BOTHER" me. Its a different game, one of finesse where fundamentals are more important. Things like passing, shooting, boxing out, etc are more of a premium. No dunks is not big deal.

LIke womens tennis, its a finesse game than power. I do prefer to watch hot young eye candy playing tennis. Im sure if Sharapova decided to play small forward for the Liberty I might tune in more.

The WNBA has never been about watching good looking chicks. There are a few though that are very pretty. Swoopes comes out, so what! Good for her! I hope she is happier.

Let me ask you this: would you let your son play for a basketball coach and his assistants and with some players that you knew were homosexual?
yes... why wouldnt I?

Would you let your daughter play for a male coach?

Just cuz a man is gay, don't mean he"s a pedophile. Not all gay men are into boys, as are all men into little girls!

There are many stories where coaches befriend the young players and stay in their lives until they are officially no longer young--ESPN ran a story early in the year about a male girl's coach who did just that. I'm saying wherever you have a coach who has sexual interest in the gender of his players--you have to be super cautious especially when it involves alot of time spent together in intimate settings like locker rooms, traveling, hotels, and the sort. Humans aren't saints...

There are thousands and thousands of coaches out there for youth sports. THere are always going to be creeps, but as a parent, its highly critical the parents stay involved. Sleepovers with coaches would never happen in my world, not unless that coach was a parent that I knew personally. Those stories have so many signs that people don't see.

All our coaches now have to have criminal backround checks.

Lets get back to the subject, are we talking about sexual gender exposure and being afraid its gonna rub off? or flat out preditory rape?

That's why I don't mind watching the WNBA. If you TRUELY love basketball, then you'll actually enjoy watching it b/c it is really A LOT more fundamentally sound than the WNBA. A lot more crisp passing and teamwork. It can be pretty fun to watch. Only real difference is that the players are shorter, not as bulk and they don't dunk. So what? Dunking is realistically, 1% of the sport.

And on to Solace's comment on gay marriage, where 2/3 think it should be banned. Most of those people say that for religious purposes, but I bet 99% of them had sex before marriage and commited countless other sins. Truth is, if you're going to use the bible as an excuse to display your displeasure towards homosexuality, then you have to by by what the rest of the bible says.

Nalod, I'm talking about all the unwelcome possibilities--from simply a coach having fantasies about a player, to unwelcome touching, to molestation, to statutory rape, to representing certain social views and beliefs that the parent doesn't agree with--sexuality is a huge part of people's lives and for people to think it's not or that people can always control it is wrong.

I'm with you on that one. I think that is bigotry; I was just presenting the statistics. :)

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Constitution says all men are created equal. Thus, in the eyes of the law, gay marriage should be allowed.

The term "Marriage" is what gets misinterpreted. Most see it as a relgious even. In a civil sense, its an econmic union. For the governement purpose, thats all it should be. People who want to live together should not be treated different because of gender.

If two old men or women (forget sexual activity and assume none) want to share a house and form an economic union and to have company, why should they be discriminated against just cuz there is one too many, or one too few penis in the house?

Im sick and tired of folks trying to legislate morality based on personal views!

That "all men are created equal" was a personal view.

I like how people point to the Constitution in the same way as the people who they oppose point to the Bible--as if the Constitution dropped down from heaven and revealed to us the truths about how we ought to live.

Never said it was wrong. But someone could argue that sticking your weiner in someone's butt is a perversion of the way our species is designed to function.

Our species is designed to function? There are exceptions to everything. There are other animals that have been known to display this too. It's not a valid arguement either. If they keep it private and out of my face, I could care less. It's their decision. It's like what Charles Barkley said "If they don't think Biance is hot, that's their problem." and it's the truth.

Aren't we designed to procreate? Doesn't matter if there are exceptions in nature--seems pretty clear we were designed to mate with the opposite sex. It doesn't matter if something happens out of your view--so murder in other distant nations shouldn't matter either? Barkely called it a "problem"...sounds like he thinks it's wrong. Never said I think it's wrong just saying you don't need the Bible to be against homosexuality in some way.

How does this affect the WNBA? I don't get it. You telling me a WNBA fan would get turned off because of a players sexuality?

In regards with female sports, I have a 12 year old daughter and I love watching the games she plays on. Competition is competition. In fact, I also have a 9 year old boy. While my son puts his all in every competition a lot of his teammates or opponents worry more about how they are going to celebrate or how they look. Girls put their heart and soul into every event.

So you guyss really think that one of the star players in the WNBA being a lesbian will turn the fans away? Lets see, it will attract more lesbians to the game, and prolly some men too lol.

Seriously though, if she is gay she is gay, and whether its good for the league or not, her coming out of the closet was about her, not about the league. This is not a totaletarian society where the good of the group of always put ahead of the invdividual good. I say to Swopp's, herself should be and is more important then some arguable good of the league.
A glimmer of hope maybe?!?

I'm still confused, did Sheryl know she was gay before she had her son

Seriously though, I don't know what to think of this. Definitely a PR hit for the WNBA and I don't see how it can help the WNBA more than it will hurt it. In her article, Sheryl says "I mean, there are as many straight women in the league as there are gay." The way Sheryl says that suggests that there is a pretty big number of lesbians in the league. That kind of took me by surprise, I thought people were joking when they said the WNBA was full of gay women.
