maybe he's healthy this year and Portland just wants to rid themselves of his contract in order to make a move at a big time free agent. I'm anxious to see Theo play now

I'll have to see him to see if he's still the player he used to be and he was one heck of a player, before I come to conclusions based on pre-season boxscores. I know I rather have him than Rose. Don't think I would give up Penny's expiring contract for someone who is always injured though. If he came with Miles then its a whole different story. Just the thought of what Larry Brown could do with Miles as our starting SF. The way he's capable of having 5block games! WOW!!

what position does theo ratliff play on the Knicks for 12mm per?

C Curry James Butler
PF Davis frye Taylor Lee

where does he get minutes--who sits? and dont say taylor because you would be way off

this is a new fantasy with knick fans--its like play do money and we have to spend it--lets stay calm here and see what transpires in the season--my bet is something WAY better than the shot theo ratliff who has 0 position here --may introudce itself and if not im happy with what we have.

The other thing I don't get is that there alot of people on this board who are loving what Jackie has done so far this preseason. Granted its preseason but it's good to see him playing well, any trade for another big man will clearly diminish his development.

I'd hold off on all the "what larry can do with this and that player talk" because we don't even know what he's done with Marbury and Crawford. How many guys on one roster can we expect him to "fix"?

he doesn't have to fix Miles. Miles fixed himself last season. Ariza needs a lot of work. primarily with his dribble and shot

Believe me, they knew exactly what they were doing when they gave a 31 year old center on the downslide of his career a 3 year extension. At 32 years old in the NBA, you just don't "get healthy" the grind of the NBA season is/was/will take a toll on Theo, its shown in prior seasons.

Patterson is a good player. doesnt hurt you offensively and is a good defender but he is a huge cancer but than again so was Rasheed right? I'm with you Briggs. I'd trade Rose for him

Seems like I'm disagreeing with everything you say, right now.

If Miles "fixed" himself last year then the Blazers aren't going to want to trade him. I personally think the reason he played well last year becuae it was the first time in his career that there were no expectations for him to play well. If he came to New York, that would change in a second and I really don't think he has the guts to do it. Portland also was a terrible team last year, remember, its ALWAYS easy to post good numbers on bad teams.

Briggs yeah, Patterson is a nice player, but I'll just put it this way. I think whatever he could add to the team by being better than Barnes/Ariza would be outweighed by what the Knicks would lose in locker room presence going from Rose to him. That's like going from a delicate aged French wine to prison wine.

The Knicks have no need for Ratliff or his contract. He would take away time from a guy who will be better than him in a few months and that is FRYE.

I am not sure NY needs Patterson either.

I think the Knicks are set at C and PF. What I would like to see is a shooter who can play either the 2 or 3. A pure shooter. I would have to see who is available to figure out who but Patterson is not a shooter.

Ratliff will be the second coming of Shandon, Eisley, and Weatherspoon combined.

Overpaid, past-his-prime, injury prone.

He's not a player that this re-born Knicks team should touch.

I could see and be happy with Rose for Patterson though. He's a good defender, a tough SG/SF. I think he'd be a good insurance to have in case one of the perimeter guys falls to injury (like Q). This balances the roster better.

Marb/Nate/Penny
Craw/Q/Patterson
Ariza/Barnes
AD/Frye/Taylor/Lee

Miles is a talent, and seems to be maturing. the "WORDS" written and spoken is he is married, calm and ready to be a leader.

If so, why would portland look to dump him? I would not want to give up either Lee or Reezy for him, nor do I think we need him.

forget the ourageous $ for one second, where does he play and who sits for him--someone said starting PF? what? id rather have lee butler Frye unless they gave us unrestricted picks, who in their right minds would take ratliff and pay extra for him?
