yeah coaches do. from time to time they have GM and coaches polls about the tops at each position.

something interesting from a sportswriter:

http://cbs.sportsline.com/nba/story/8923617

i wouldn't bash Steph if he were the 2. I love watching him score.

what does this article mean if steph is not moved to the 2?

Oh, would that mean that crawford falls out of his list?

this article isn't that telling. It starts out ASSUMING marbs get's moved...I'd believe you were looking into all sources of nba facts if you pulled out an article like:
http://fantasysports.yahoo.com/analysis/news?slug=bf-pgrank-05&prov=yhoo&type=lgns&league=fantasy/nba
Where marbs is 7th.

Or ESPN
http://insider.espn.go.com/fantasy/basketball/fba/story?id=2190508&action=login&appRedirect=http%3a%2f%2finsider.espn.go.com%2ffantasy%2fbasketball%2ffba%2fstory%3fid%3d2190508
Where marbs is ranked as the 12 fantasy player and second PG.
or if you don't like fantasy rankings...I notice you clicked the first link in google to get your link...I'll do some research for you while you chomp on these links. (notice the open in a new window, easier to remember where it was posted)

How about realGM?

Hey, look at that, they put marbs at number 3 ahead of Kidd...interesting.

So, that's 3 links to your one.

it's good to see a poll like this...it reminds me that people that gripe about marbs are really just griping to stir up something...everybody knows marbury is one of the top 5 point guards in the league...to even question his stature on his own team is just being plain silly.

no doubt

obviously everybody doesn't or it would never be up for discussion. Go to othe Nets board or the Suns board for instance, they KNIOW they have a top floor general. Some Knix fans think Steph is great some don't and it has nothing to do with all out blatant hate for Steph as a person. Watching him play point guard is dreadful because HE MAKES DUMB DECISIONS ESPECIALLY IN T HE FOURTH and as a whole HE DOES NOT GET HIS TEAMMATES INVOLVED.

If anybody has the Nets-Knicks series recorded please cue it up. My dislike for Steph as point started about at the 6 minute mark of the 4th quarter of game 3. Watching how he responded with us up approaching the final minutes and how Kidd took control of the game following 2 bonehead plays by him made me start to view Steph in a different light. Game 4's fourth and the Olympics confirmed it.

I'm on the same boat as you regarding Marbury, he is a great scorer, but first I need to see Crawford improve his decision making before I hand him the starting PG job. in the 4th quarter of the dallas game he was the same old crawford, trying to win the game himself when he's not even as good as Marbury. Lastnights game we missed for obvious reasons but it looks like he played well and helped us win. A few more of those and he may very well become the PG with Marbury as our SG. God that would be an awful frontcourt. The trade MArbury posts would then sky rocket!

OH, and one more ESPN ranking...and I think we can all agree, they are pretty much the Sports experts:

ESPN.com recently did rank players based on statistical efficiency last season. Here are its top five point guards:

1 Allen Iverson of Philadelphia

2 Steve Nash of Phoenix

3 Stephon Marbury of New York

4 Gilbert Arenas of Washington

5 Baron Davis of Golden State

Note: Detroit'S Chauncey Billups, A Denver Native, Is No. 8, The Nuggets' Earl Boykins Is No. 17 And Miller Is No. 20.

http://rockymountainnews.com/drmn/nuggets/article/0,1299,DRMN_20_4164005,00.html

I'm still looking for coach's rankings, but I think you are getting my point.

hoss my man you do realize those are stat and fantasy basketball player rankings.

part of the argument by us Steph-haters is that he is a stat whore.

I asked for coaches/GM's people who are paid to do the building and thinking for these pro organizations. I added that sportswriters take b/c he is in a ways just like me and you sitting in front of a computer writing his take on how things will develop.

hey, I see what you are saying, but you may as well ask for proof pigs can fly...I'm scouring the internet and can not find ONE coaches poll, etc.

Maybe you can find one that does NOT place him in the top 5?

If not, then we have to go with your one opinion piece and my 4.

To keep saying Starbury sucks with nothing to back it up but your opinion AND then to see a poll like this that clearly demonstrates that you are in the minority is enough for me to believe Marbury is not only one of the top point guards in this league...but the best on the team.

Any of these other techies able to find a coaches poll? I think the information I have provided is enough to prove Steph is one of the top 5 point guards in the league.

Other than opinion...what have you got?

hoss we're talking about the NBA not Live 2K6 or yahoo fantasy sports.

but if yu want to go tic for tac, here is another sportswriters opinion:

http://msn.foxsports.com/nba/story/3900858

7. Stephon Marbury, Knicks
Ht./Wt. 6-2, 200
Numbers: 21.7 pts., 8.1 ast., 1.49 stls
The self-proclaimed best point guard in the NBA isn't even close. In fact, his self-absorption has him dropping like a rock in the esteem of many insiders. We'll see if Larry Brown moves him to shooting guard as he did with Iverson.

Don't you find it interesting that Iverson is number one and Brown moved him to shooting guard?

So, that's 4 to 2.

btw...I'm not seeing crawford (or nate for that matter) on that foxsports list of sportswriters opionions.

that's my tic for your tac

So, what you are saying is, marbs is the number 5 shooting guard in the league?

OK...I'll take that for now...how do we explain him starting the opening day roster at PG?

also, one of your links says about crawford:
13 Jamal Crawford Knicks Points, assists, steals, 3FG made
Might not start, but will produce playing in the NBA's deepest backcourts.

Wait...may not start at PG? Who will?

You're starting to bore me.

Craw has to prove he can handle the job with consistency.

that is one thing I agree with, Crawford will be our starting point guard in 3 years, hence his salary being commenserate of that by that time...as it stands, he's a sixth man combo guard coming off the bench to spell up to three positions...but this year and next year and possibly the year after, Marbs is the best PG on the team.

I guess you didn't read my post yesterday in the other thread. Didn't he get that chance in Chicago when he was PG and had Elton Brand, Brad Miller, Eddy Curry and Tyson Chandler to pass the ball to? Don't give me anything about how he was young and now he has a second change to do it becuase I can say the same thing about Stephon now playing with Eddy Curry.

Steph is on his 4th chance. He didn't mesh with KG or Amare who are leagues above Curry or KVH either who early in his career was better than 23 wins. Don't tell me: he was young then...

Yeah Keith Van Horn is a great player. Jamal Crawford got 2 sets of forwards to work with on one team! Steph is the starting PG now and has Curry. Watch the dominance.
