Curry went from something like 6 ppg to 10 to about 14 to 16 in his four years in the business. What common sense tells you is that he's still figuring out a few things about being effective in this league. And when his mind is made up about doing it, he improves. It also says that he CAN learn new things and grow. Dude just needs to work on his defensive techniques and there's no doubt he can excel at that. LB WILL get these guys too hustle. But defense IS more than just hustle. There are a lot more things involved than just showing aggression. Timing, technique and anticipation play a big part on top of that.

Now that he'll be in a position where defense is demanded of him on a constant bases by a dude like LB he'll have no choice but to work at that end as hard as he's been working at the other end. Common sense should tell you he's perceptive. He just needs the right people around him that can help to show him various ways to improve that. LB will accept no less. People also have to remember that, like Steph, Curry has played under a lot of different coaches as well. We know that Skiles preached defense but did Skiles pay attention to detail and stop every other play during practice to point out specific details about both defense and offense like a Larry Brown does? I'm not so sure. Is he a 'teacher' like Larry Brown and his guys are? I'm not so sure. I believe Curry's is the right place to learn some things about 'how to defend'. If you remember LB refered to him as a 'college kid' or something to that effect. He'll learn alot here with these Knicks

monk... I'm with you. All you can ask is that a guy his age shows marked improvement every year and Curry has done that. He also came into camp last year in great shape. Probably too great as the sudden weight loss probably affected his health

There's too much emphasis being placed on how he's looked in limited action in 3 PRESEASON games! Come on already. I think its going to take more than a couple of weeks for him to get it together. I really don't care if he never becomes a defensive terror or not. Shaq hasn't really be one for years now. He NEVER defends a pick and roll.
Give Curry a chance to get in shape and to learn the game on a higher level. He obviously is not a finished product.

Do yourself a favor and never mention Curry in the same breath as Shaq again.
You just violated your own suggestion!

Ive noticed Tom is kinda sensative

this is what would happen to eddie in a jc practice. the swear words with be one-letter.

eddie will you fing run back, eddie did you f hear me are you going to f run today--you know what eddie you are going to make every last one of your teammates run an extra 10 laps if you dont move that arse harder.

eddie what did we tell you, cut the f lane off, how many f times do i have to run it through your head, cut the f lane off. eddie keep your f hands up keep them up or get the fck out of here and take a shower

thats what he missed in college, and thats probably a playfull calhoun, i have seen way worse. he needs discpline in his game, he shouldnt need that after 4 years in the pros right? I mean he has collected 20mm$ he should understand some nuances here

Heh, as I was reading this, Michael Jackson's Smooth Criminal (http://www.azlyrics.com/lyrics/michaeljackson/smoothcriminal.html) was going through my head.

Curry's still just 22 and will now get some big-time coaching from a guy who demands defense and is not afraid to let his players know it. He might not ever become a defensive force, but I think he'll gradually develop into a respectable defensive player, especially as this team develops more of a defensive mentality under LB.

At least I hope so.

playing defense has probably never been rewarding either. He will get it. There's a lot of competition on this team for his minutes.

I'll do that if you agree to go through the forum and can find any threads where you contributed something other than Mo T and Jerome James killed our franchise!

Wishing everyone well. I enjoyed posting here for a while, but as I matured I realized this forum isn't for me. We all evolve. Thanks for the memories everyone.

Marv, have you been sneaking out of 5th grade science class to post on ultimate knicks again?

Besides, you got me all wrong. I don't have any problems with fish.

The problem with Curry has been he has never had a teaching coach when he entered the NBA. In HS he would just physically beat everybody. In the pros a lot of people are as big as him and as gifted physically. Then he got Floyd, Cartwright then Skiles as his coaches. Talk about no help. Skiles is a good NBA coach but he would be a horrible college coach. LB will fix this. IF not, then he will be sitting in the bench till he learns. Peer pressure is a good thing in sports. It makes everybody better. This team is just too deep.

Here's the issue. These guys are pampered in high school. No coach lays down the law with these guys. They are never told to play D and they are so much better than everyone else that they win the games without having to hustle ( It's like you playing against an elementary school kid). So they develop the habit of winning without playing hard. When they get to the NBA they aren't going to magically change and become intense players. They don't know what it means. No matter how much you yell at them if they don't understand what true intensity is, HOW ARE YOU GOING TO GET THEM TO DO IT. The only way is to have them spend 3 or 4 years with the same or similar coach's that are willing to beat them down. At that point they will either get it and become good players or they will rebel and stay in mediocrity.

You will notice that players that come from the Calhoun's and the Kryshshehshdsyssjsjuski's never have to learn this. Two or three years with these guys is enough to beat it out of you. With all the free agency and bloated contracts these guys are rewarded before they do what is required. And if they don't like it they just leave when the contract runs out. It's hard for a guy like Brown to "teach" them about hustle. Sooner or later his only hope is to trade these guys for less talented veterans that do get it.

I just hope that people will like me
