I thought that was for restricted free agents though, signing the 1 year offer, or something like that?

If Curry's healthy, Ratliff might fit better with him than Jerome James would actually. It obviously would turn out to be a very poor use of the MLE if all we got from it was Ratliff indirectly, but that's part of the past. You have to decide who's better for the team now that we do have Curry. Ratliff's slowed down but he's still a good rebounder and outstanding shot-blocker (over 2.5 a game in under 30 mpg last year). If James were to get 25 mpg, I wouldn't expect more than his playoff career averages of around 9/5/1.5. In the same time, Ratliff might get 6/7/3.

I think Theo Ratliff was plan B.......if the Knicks didn't get curry Theo Ratliff would have been plan B.....maybe Theo and Miles or Patterson for whoever the Knicks send.

Vescey didn't even look confident about reporting the trade(cuz he is senile).

Ratliff isn't much of a rebounder either. If we were to let's say trade Jerome James (which we wouldn't until at least mid-season) than it would be for a rebounder. Right? To compliment Curry who won't get many rebounds.

Vecey needs to stay off the sauce. He just don't got nothing better to say he needs to quit his job and just come join a forum so we can give him the buisness about all his hypotetical trades.

I think Isiah wanted Ratliff and James as plan A. Penny for Ratliff made no sense to Portland. Paul Allen isn't strapped for cash and they've already trimmed payroll to the point they are hovering right around.
the cap.

the stop underrating David Lee movement 1. FIRE MIKE 2. HIRE MULLIN 3. PAY AVERY 4. FREE NATE!!!

Penny for Ratliff and Miles now that's a good trade proposal

that trade does nothing for Portland which is why they said NO.

Yeah, and I'm pretty sure in our system, james will be getting boards, I think the issue will be whether or not LB has a dog house and if JJ is already firmly planted in it.

please everyone...

shutup.
DLee is the best thing to happen to NY in Isiah's 4 year tenure. And that alone, though a positive on the radar, is sad as hell.

no.

in the new CBA you can trade any player 60 days after signing him. JJ is free to be traded RIGHT NOW. it's in the CBA.

My guess is this is more a Larry Brown issue than an Isiah issue. I'm guessing Larry saw JJ's lack of effort and poor defense and remember Theo Ratliff fondly. I really hope we don't end up with Theo Ratliff and Eric Snow. It'd be a few more wins this season, but a lot fewer wins in a few years. Be strong, Zeke!

Wrong, Young skywalker.

Section 8. Trade Rules.

(d) Except as set forth in Section 8(e) below: (1) no player who signs a Contract as a Free Agent may be traded before the later of (i) three (3) months following the date on which such Contract was signed or (ii) the December 15 of the Salary Cap Year in which such Contract was signed; and (2) no Draft Rookie who signs a Player Contract may be traded before thirty (30) days following the date on which the Contract is signed.

oh, cool. thanks. I was thinking about the rookie part applying to everyone then. Used to be you couldn't trade rookies until 12/15 either.

I still wouldn't be surprised if this trade goes down in January.
